Bill O’Reilly and Juan Williams discussed his firing from NPR tonight on The Factor.
O’Reilly warned that:

“NPR has now devolved into a totalitarian outfit functioning as an arm of the far left. As a corporation, has a right to do what it wants, but it does not have a right to any of our tax dollars. NPR will rue the day. Congress is going to defund NPR. We are not letting it go.

Juan Williams responded to his firing from NPR.
This was a great segment.

NPR will rue the day indeed.

  1. “‘Rue the day?’ Who talks like that?”
    -Chris Knight, Real Genius

All joking aside, O’Reilly is right. Enough. NPR has no problem abusing Tea Partiers in vile terms, but let one of their commenters DARE to make a comment that doesn’t square with their doctrinaire liberalism and he’s gone in a heartbeat. They stopped even pretending to be unbiased decades ago. Let them see if they can compete in the market, without government help.

  2. The National Propaganda Radio.

    It’s no longer a theory.

  3. Oh, look, it’s Air America II.

  4. I’m trying to remember if such a fuss was made when Jesse jackson said that if he’s walking down a dark street and sees a bunch of kids coming towards him, that he feels relieved if the kids are white and not black.
does anyone else remember him saying that?

  5. Don’t hold your breath. Same for the National Endowment for the “Arts”….yeah, sure. The Democrats love ‘em, so they won’t let them get defunded, and the Republicans are too gutless.

  6. Martha,

Yes I remember that and no, not one liberal (or conservative, for that matter) batted an eyelash…

  7. I just deleted the NPR app from my iPad in protest. Maybe I will give it a poor review on the app store. Who’s with me?

  8. I had a long list of gov’t funded programs in my head that I would scrap if I had the ability.
NPR and PBS were at the top of that list along with the Depts of Education, Energy, Environment.
My all time favorite one though, is get us out of the UN and stop paying for that piece of property on 1st ave. Let all those 3rd world despots go to some country where the women are wearing tablecloths and you ca’nt get a decent drink or a ham sandwich , since they seem to think that way is so much better than how we do things here.

  9. Great Clip!

De-funding NPR is a foregone conclusion, at least Congressional heat.

NPR is a mouthpiece for Liberal causes. They promote the far left view while pretending to be non partisan. Now they are cornered! They played their trump card and have become what they have accused Conservatives as being.

I sure hope they like the taste of a heaping plate of CROW!

  10. I wore the uniform, and though I do not agree with most of what Juan Williams has to say he has a RIGHT to say it. Soros is trying to change the game. make it into a democracy instead of a Representative Republic. Democracies eventually slide into socialist Dictatorships. Kinda like the dictator in training pants wants.
Flush the Dems they are evil and ust be purged from a civil society. Juan can stay around as a token lib. He has learned now what liberalism is all about. censorship. powder is dry, come take it.

  11. Unless there is a serious threat to defund the CPB(Corporation for Public Broadcasting), then all de-funding threats are hollow.

CPB was created by Congress in 1967. Wikipedia reports in 2009 it received $400 million in federal funds. While the CPB provides some limited funding to NPR, NPR is correct that it is almost entirely free of federal funding.

Of course, we all know that NPR only exists (outside of satellite radio) on public stations – almost all of which are dependent on CPB funding to run – even in the states which heavily subsidize public radio.

Thus, to kill/hurt/force NPR to change, the attack has to be against the CPB.

How will people react to an all out attack on their local public stations, which do more than play NPR programs? Don’t think for a moment this is some sort of serendipity … it is intentionally set up to make NPR immune from federal attack by making sure it NPR is independent of federal funds, but that its outlets would fold or be crippled if the pork stops – taking down the classical music, and local programs.

Up to now, they might think it was a pretty neat trick. But if we’re serious, we’ve got to be ready to sacrifice the “good” in order to destroy the bad. For me, I’m ready. This ain’t 1967. Even people of very modest means have access to a wealth of media (classical music, etc.) that they never had in the 60s.

Let’s finally slay this dragon. If for no other reason than to watch the leftists cry. Marketplace wouldn’t last a second in the marketplace – unless it changed its spots. These liberals all love Darwinism. Good – let’s see some survival of the fittest.

  12. Those people that don’t like Juan Williams don’t count. Well coming from Bill O’Reilly I’ll take this as a complement, lol.

  13. I tuned into NPR twice today and heard the Juan Williams clip both times. It can’t be to boost ratings since those things don’t exist in the pretend radio world.

On “All Things Considered” they scoffed at the idea of Republicans pulling their funding as their budget only relies on 1% of taxpayer funds. Guess they won’t miss it much.

They were quick to add that “affiliates were heavily reliant” on government funding. Too bad.

  14. Williams is Black and he like many others, thinks racism is something that occurs to blacks but is not something done by blacks. This is why he was so careless about his remarks and why he is so surprised by their consequences.

If he was white and said he was afraid of Jews or Blacks no one would be making a fuss about his firing. The conservatives are playing this up for political points but it is a non-issue.

I don’t think NPR should get government funding – they are a partisan political organization – but firing Williams is not a good reason for them to lose it.

  15. There is a saying in Poland: “Serve your master faithfully ahd he shall reward you with a FART in your face”.

That idiot and hypocrite Williams has just got the taste of his own medicine.

Will he have smoe reflexion on why has he wading in that smelly pool of Leftoid propaganda brei fro such a long time?

Will he retract his vile rant he spauted on Palin desribing her as a “Centrefold fo Republican men”?

Now, he is shedding his crocodile tears on the network belonging to his ideological enemies; the only one who extended their helping hand when his own alles wer toppling him.

The question is: why FOX is employing him. They should let him sink into oblivion.

  16. P.S: Apology for may typing errors.

  17. So Juan Williams isn’t liberal enough for the Liberals anymore…

  18. defund, Defund, DEFUND DEFUND DEFUND!!!!!

    Ooooh, music to my EARS!

  19. He fed the crocodiles for a long long time.
    Then they fed on him.
No big surprise. I called my Congressman, and told him in no uncertain terms that I expect him to ACT on defunding of NPR when he is again a BIG SHOT in the majority.
    We’ll see.

  20. Strangely I have always liked Juan. I thought his views were left of center but not left field. Occasionally he’d say something stupid, like all lefties do, but I liked him and I feel sorry for him tonight. O’Reilly has it correct, Juan is better off and will do just fine. NPR on the other hand is going down. DEFUND

  21. O/T Harry Reid’s latest:

“But for me, we’d be in a world-wide depression.”

    http://www.breitbart.tv/reid-but-for-me-wed-be-in-world-wide-depression/

  22. NPR is bragging that it only gets 2% public funding, so really defunding it won’t hurt it all that much.

  23. The world has just received notice that the only protected class is Islam. You can’t win a war when you refuse to declare who the enemy is. Juan, just in a simple little statement from his heart, was fired at the request of Cair. The world walks on eggs when it comes to Islam, but Islam kills, denegrates, and other wise abuses the Jewish/Christian world with impunity. Juan I never agreed with you on anything till now. I just hope you realize that the agenda and people that you believed in have shown YOU the door, and for what?

  24. “He fed the crocodiles for a long long time.
    Then they fed on him.”

Cría cuervos y verás cómo te sacan los ojos. [Raise ravens and you'll see how they'll rip your eyes out.]

Well, Juan Williams has been mugged by reality. May he know better now.

As for O’Reilly, he was spitting fire tonight!

  25. So lemme get this straight.
Juan badmouths TEA partiers and conservatives on NPR and FOX for as living, because he speaks for progressives.
When the same progressives kick him in his walnuts, he is defended by TEA partiers and conservatives.
And when liberal network tosses him out , he finds a job at that enemy of humanity right wing machine called FOX , because he is a liberal
    Hmmmm

  26. It seems obvious that the wizards of NPR didn’t think through Juan Williams firing. It’s my guess his comments were just an opportunity to piss on FOX, placate a constituent (CAIR) and show good faith to their benefactor George Soros. It is unlikely as indicated by Vivian Schiller’s arrogant early comments that they contemplated the furious response.

So they only get one or two percent of their funding from the public trough and even with all the heat now it will be politically difficult to cut it off. The answer is not to just go after their public funding, but all their funding. What if the idea spread across the country for people to call all the PBS funding drives and offer their two cents, often, continually, non-stop. Keep those phones ringing and deliver your two cents to PBS at every opportunity. Let’s see if George Soros can make up the difference.

  27. CAIR, the radical left and the typical Muslim response to any discussion of Islam ALWAYS reacts that way. So far nobody has called for Williams’ death — but it’s a typical reaction to any opinion of Islam or Muslims that doesn’t square with the stereotype image that CAIR wants to paint them in.

Discuss the widespread practice of female genital mutilation, the religious sanction of beating women, the bigotry, the violence, the backwardness and they issue an order for your assassination. They couldn’t get away with assassinating Williams on the steps of his home so they tried to destroy his name and his character.

    It didn’t work.

  28. There’s no room in the left-wing for people like Juan. They’re totalitarian at heart and everyday that we tolerate their intolerance we lose our ability to defend our liberties (like free speech).

Soros doesn’t give money but he makes investments. Our universities were taken over the same way with organizations like the Ford foundation. Until he’s a wanted criminal in this country, I have no faith that we have the balls to defend ourselves. I give a damn about election results when our “leaders” and institutions are financed with “Persian gold”. To hell with the tyrants and the ignorant.

  29. This is a PR catastrophy for the dems with an election just 12 days out. Its like the Marsha Choakley Scott Brown campaign of stunning democrat blunders has grown into a nationwide plague . The grace of God is not with them. The democrats count on the black vote. How dumb is it for party elites to reveal that the pecking order of victims has been rearranged at this point in time. Muslims are now at the top of the victim list. Muslim grievances now get top priority even if it means abusing their black socialist chumps. They have also struck torment, fear, and outrage into the entire journalist profession to the point of provoking a massive mutany of mavens democrats need to push their trashy talking points. Have we ever seen such madness ?

  30. NPR-NEA-PBS -all taxpayer funded – non Constitutional bureaucratic- entities-must be eliminated-
does any ‘servant’ in our government have the spine to start such an operation!?
    C-CS

  31. And we are to belive that Jaun Williams did not know anything about Barack Obama? His communist raising? All the creeps Obama hung with? The terrorists and bombers? The Black Lib church? The plans to dismantle the U.S.Constitution? the massive rate increases in power costsand killing coal? When it was on vids? And Juan is in the Press?
And Juan williams stood there and had tears duringthe inauguration running dn his face .
Bull! Absolute Bull. Williams is not Little Lord Fauntleroy in all this…

  32. I guess they will have to change their name:

    National Radio, NR.

Defund and make SURE everybody knows this is not public-sanctioned radio.

  33. The real way to attack this is to go after your own local affiliate, make them feel the heat as well. As posted above, NPR uses the affiliate stations to present its programming. If they are catching heat too, then all the better.

Your local funding drive supports your local station, which plays the classical music and the bluegrass, and also airs the network lib programming.

Besides, they’re all a bunch of libs drinking the same kool-aid.

    Opus #6 #33

    How about National Socialist Radio?

Ha ha. They deserve it, that’s what they’re acting like.

    NSR to Juan Williams:

    “No more radio for YOU!”

  34. It doesn’t really matter that Juan Williams is a hard core Liberal Leftie. He’s pissed. MAYBE he’ll start reexamining everything he believed about his side. In the meantime, as Mark Twain said, “Never pick a fight with a guy who buys ink by the barrel.”

That jaw-dropping insult, “between him and his psychiatrist” may have been more of a game-changer than the actual firing.

  35. Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking how telling that comment is. Anybody who fails to toe the liberal orthodox line needs to see a psychiatrist, as far as they are concerned.

The poor person needs to be re-educated, or removed from view.

This woman is a Nazi totalitarianist. Just like the rest of the enlightened liberals, once they get but a mere smattering of power.

  36. And let that fiend, George Soros, pay to run NPR.

    _____________

Absolutely. And to go after NPR’s tax-free status! They are a 501(c) only because of their status as a public entity. Since they do not serve the public at large but only a tiny, very leftist slice, let them compete in the same market place as every other broadcasting station in the country.

    NPR’s Taxpayer-Funded Intolerance

All Americans, particularly those of Arab or Muslim
descent, should protest the firing of Juan Williams.

    By EMILIO KARIM DABUL

[It was not Muslims in traditional garb who hijacked those planes on
9/11, and it certainly was not Muslim women in veils and wheelchairs.
If anything, an Islamist terrorist wants to blend in, not stand out.

However, it was not a traditional sort of terrorist attack I feared in this case, but perhaps something unexpected: a traditional Muslim woman in a veil, confined to a wheelchair, who was loaded with explosives.

That may make me guilty of an overactive imagination, but perhaps not. Not that many years later, a young Muslim on an international flight into Detroit tried to light explosives in his underwear.

I mention all this for one main reason. I grew up surrounded by Islamic culture, went to Islamic events, and was used to seeing women in traditional Muslim clothing, and yet when that woman appeared at the Berlin airport, I was scared.]

Muslims speak out against NPR’s political correctness

Indeed, the threat is real enough even for Fatah, a liberal Muslim,
who looks at women in burkas with skepticism. “I am scared when
I see women in burkas, how do I know what is behind that?” Fatah
said, noting that many Muslims share his concerns.

“We are victims of these guys. A number of suicide bombers who have attacked have killed people [while] wearing the burka,” Fatah said. “This is the truth, we should be speaking the truth rather than what people expect us to say.”

    [..]

“Mr. Williams spoke to this reality in an understated, candid way. He did not express hatred or incite violence against Muslims. He should not have been dismissed.”]

as was the case with numerous MUSLIMS speaking out against the GZM.. so too are these MUSLIM VOICES being SILENCED via the IslaMarxist media, just as they were during the Saddam years via CNN..
