Breaking: Rahmbo will resign as White House Chief of Staff on Friday.
The AP reported:
Two people close to Rahm Emanuel said Thursday he will resign as White House chief of staff on Friday, and will begin his campaign for Chicago mayor by meeting with voters in the city on Monday.
The two people familiar with his plans, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they did not want to pre-empt Emanuel’s announcement, said he will return to Chicago over the weekend and begin touring neighborhoods on Monday.
“He intends to run for mayor,” one of the people told The Associated Press.
Both people said they did not know when Emanuel would make an official announcement about his mayoral bid but that he would launch a website with a message to Chicago voters in the near future.

He’s no shoe in for mayor. His first hurdle is to prove residence which is not a given. On top of that I think his support is going to be really thin as he flees the rotting corpse administration in Washington.

Egad! Chicagoans are too stupid to breathe if they elect this entity as Mayor
I wish we could put some of these cities in bottles like “Kandor” in the SuperMan Series.
That way we could keep the ‘Stoopids’infection contained
Peggy commented:
This sounds like a fall back plan. having failed in their golden opportunity for a national socialist takeover, Rahm retreats create a successful socialist model on a smaller scale in Chicago. The hope being that once the European style paradise is well established there then the American people will begin to demand it at the federal level.
I also feel sorry for Chicago.

It’s not uncommon for any W.H. administration to see changing of staff half-way thru the first term. There’s pysiological burn out and reality sets in about theory and application. If Obama were a staffer, I bet he’d be jumping ship at this time too. Were he able to run for some other higher office, I suspect he’d try for it, because of the whole group, he and Biden have to stay and sit it out.
As for Chicago and Rahm’s chances? I guess as good as anyone elses, but you’d think he’s got to realize he’s damaged goods… unless he knows something we don’t. Either the people of Chicago are really that stupid or they’re that liberal.
Whether or not he wins, Rahm is going to survive. I suspect he’ll get a book deal out of all of this, and release it right around 2012.

Rahm is going back to help run the
Climate Exchange for Obama et al..
[In 1997, Strong went on to accept from Tongsun Park, who was found guilty of illegally acting as an Iraqi agent, $1 million from Saddam Hussein, which was invested in Cordex Petroleum Inc., a company he owned with his son, Fred.
These are the leaders in the Man-made Global Warming Movement,
who three years later were to be funded by the man who was to become President of the United States of America.
[..]
It may be interesting to note that the Chicago Climate Exchange in spite
of its hype, is a veritable rat’s nest of cronyism. The largest shareholder
in the Exchange is Goldman Sachs. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is its honorary chairman, The Joyce Foundation, which funded the Exchange also funded money for John Ayers’ Chicago School Initiatives. John is the brother of William Ayers.
What a flap when it was discovered that the senator from Chicago had nursed on Saul Alinsky’s milk, had his political career launched at a
coffee party held by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and sat for 20 years, uncomplaining in front of the “God-dam-America pulpit of resentment-challenged Jeremiah Wright.
[..]
The same Chicago Climate Exchange promoting public
rip-off was funded by Obama before he was POTUS.]

He probably made sure he could fix it, so he will win the mayorship in Chicago before resigning. I’m sure the dirt will start flying once and if the Republicans take a majority, so Rahm isn’t a fool – he might even disappear until the dirt settles.

I’d feel sorry for Chicago, except for the fact that they bloody well deserve Rhambo. I used to live in that town. Trust me when I say there hasn’t been an honest election since the Indians were trading furs in the trading post at the mouth of the stinking cabbage river. @13: I don’t think the Israelis would have been that obvious [if they were behind it]; in fact, this tells me it likely was not Israel, and the manner in which this worm has operated in Iran points to it not being the U.S. either.
But it seems a lot of people would sure like to see Israel and/or the U.S. blamed for it though…

Don’t be to hard on the folks in Chicago, given the level of voter fraud that ACORN looks to have perpetrated in the last election, and the spreading incidents now coming to light in Texas, it may be they where denied their rights as well. On the flip side is they have put up with the Chicago Style of Politics for a awful long time. Let rodents go unchallenged to long, they will end up in your bed.

@25: I’m certainly not crying that Iran has had a disruption of their systems and may have to start from scratch with quite a bit of their nuclear program, but I question who did it and what the implications might be.
Who would want to see Iran’s internal systems disrupted so, and now China’s (the worm has targeted Indonesia, India, and Pakistan as well; that may mean something or it may be a red herring)…and who would want to see the U.S. and Israel be the fall guys? Who would have the ability to put together a program like this and posit this in Siemens based systems, and then introduce it in those particular countries, especially this focused attack on Iran?
Motive, method, opportunity/ability…the U.S. and Israel look very obvious, but perhaps too obvious, and on close scrutiny they don’t clear the three requirements all that well. Is there any country that is trying to abjure close scrutiny? If so, why?
