Radical Judge Blocks PA Town From Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration

A radical judge ruled today that a Pennsylvania town does not have the right to enforce national immigration law and crack down on illegal immigrants.
Nuts.
The AP reported:
A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Hazleton, Pa., may not enforce its crackdown on illegal immigrants, dealing another blow to 4-year-old regulations that inspired similar measures around the country.
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia said that Hazleton’s Illegal Immigration Relief Act usurped the federal government’s exclusive power to regulate immigration.
“It is … not our job to sit in judgment of whether state and local frustration about federal immigration policy is warranted. We are, however, required to intervene when states and localities directly undermine the federal objectives embodied in statutes enacted by Congress,” wrote Chief Judge Theodore McKee.
Appeals courts are split on whether states and municipalities have the right to enforce laws dealing with immigration. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments over a 2007 Arizona law that prohibits employers from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.
The progressive judge must be looking for a job in the Obama Administration, huh?

Very sad. I was born there and do not recognize the town now. It is a total drug infested mess. Many illegals there from Mexico, Central American and the Dominican Republic. As in most cases, not all are bad people, but very large numbers are violent, gang related, etc. Maybe Hazleton will appeal, but they are probably running out of money.

Can someone explain how this brain dead judge believes that a local law UNDERMINES the objective of the statute. They are not trying to “regulate immigration” they are just dealing with illegal people. In the words of Lennon…”you say you want a revolution”.

I have a good friend from Hazelton and it has gone from a pleasant suburb town to a disgusting ghetto. I GUARANTEE the judge does not live in the town. I used take a contracting job there every year and now all the business i worked with has left. It is a tragedy and an example of what happens when laws are ignored. Its not the criminals that are negatively affected, in fact, its when they thrive….and Hazelton is exhibit A.
That judge should be removed for his unwillingness to follow the law which has let his citizens be ravaged by violent crime. Despicable.

What the hell is the difference between a criminal wanted for any federal crime then ? How is it legal for a state or local official to arrest anyone wanted for drug dealing, bank robbery, child pornography or any other federal crime?
Are we now going to say we cant arrest them? cant ask them for id ?

The liberal left (economically troubled) Arizona Republic newspaper had a two-tissue box article some months ago of an illegal Hispanic family, having exhausted all their false papers dodges and facing the random uncertainy of SB1070, were packing up and fleeing the state. Heart-wrenching yard sales, sniffing kids saying goodbye to school friends at the end of the school year, paying cash for a new water pump for the car, and how heart-rending is this: they had to leave the CHIHAUHA behind with friends and the wee chihuaha puppies. WAAAH.
They left Arizona in the DEAD of night, fearfully driving past carefully watching the speed limits as highway patrol cars sat like sharks by the side of the roads.

The difference between AZ and Pennsylvania is going to become evident very quickly. AZ has OPEN CARRY. Despite lots of illegals, crime outside that circuit is low. Most of the high crime stats are generated by cartels and gangs and stay within the Hispanic circuit. PA doesn’t have that “an armed society is a polite society” dynamic. And Arizona has a lot fewer illegals now – migrated EAST to SANCTUARY. Not Utah, not California, not Nevada – all MUCH closer. East Coast! Enjoy!

Wilkes Barre, PA about 30 minutes from Hazleton just recently pulled over 4 illegals. The Wilkes Barre Police called the Feds and were TOLD to release them all. Happened about a week ago, it was in the TIMES LEADER one of the local newspapers.
