Obama wants another $50 biliion stimulus to boost the struggling economy.
Never mind the fact that by every objective measure the democrat’s Trillion dollar stimulus bomb was a complete disaster.
Barack Obama is incapable of learning new tricks. He’s a committed Keynesian.
The AP reported:
Vowing to find new ways to stimulate the sputtering economy, President Barack Obama will call for long-term investments in the nation’s roads, railways and airports that would cost at least $50 billion, administration officials said.
The infrastructure investments are one part of a package of targeted proposals the White House is expected to announce in hopes of jump-starting the economy ahead of the November election. Obama will outline the infrastructure proposal Monday at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee.
While the proposal calls for investments over six years, officials said spending would be front-loaded with an initial $50 billion to help create jobs in the near future. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the proposals ahead of the president’s announcement.
The goals of the infrastructure plan include: rebuilding 150,000 miles of roads; constructing and maintaining 4,000 miles of railways, enough to go coast-to-coast; and rehabilitating or reconstructing 150 miles of airport runways, while also installing a new air navigation system designed to reduce travel times and delays.
Just so you know you’re not crazy… The first stimulus was already supposed to fix the roads.

This package WILL NOT BE PASSED till after November election cycle. The Dem’s would be out of their collective minds to do this before and election.
Afterwards they will do it out of spite to distroy the economy and blame the republicans then as the truth will come out as to how damn bad the economy is. This is the games that the left is willing to play with our money and our lives. G D you and your kids and your dreams. This is all about their power and legacies. Hit them where it hurts, turn them out and show the left for what they are. Distroyers of prosperity and lovers of our enemys. powder is dry.

Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010
“On December 16th [2009], the House passed the Jobs for Main Street Act to create or save jobs here at home with targeted investments ($75 billion) for highways and transit, school renovation, hiring teachers, police, and firefighters, small business, job training and affordable housing – key drivers of economic growth that have the most bang for the buck. These investments are fully paid for by redirecting TARP funds from Wall Street to Main Street.”
STABILIZING JOBS THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS
The bill redirects $48.3 billion from Wall Street to help put people to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing public buildings, and cleaning our air and water…

Trust the AP to parrot Democrat talking points.
50 billion in so-called stimulus would have no effect on the economy before November, even if it passed both houses today. The Obama administration is stupid but not that stupid.
But if Democrat labor unions and bosses know that 50 billion is potentially in the pipeline, it will motivate them to work harder for Democrat candidates. If they are convinced that the post-election lameduck session will twist the spigot for one last burst of taxpayer dollars, they will free up tens of millions in kickbacks in advance.
As with the Porkulus, the primary goal of these ‘targeted proposals’ is to launder a massive transfer of tax money to Democrat candidates.

This is union payoff for mid-term help.
The first stimulus required all construction firms be unionized.
I can’t imagine this one being any different.

There wouldn’t be a problem with fixing up infrastructure if (a) we could afford it and (b) we didn’t already know the money would really go to democrat cronies.

My question is don’t we already pay so many cents per gallon of gas for roads? Where does all that money go? I was always under the impression that this was why we paid all those taxes on our gasoline consumption. I have been asking this question for months. Where does all of that revenue go?
squeaky commented:
i thought the gas tax was for the roads but apparently they went to the general fund……

“Roads repair” is just a ploy to deceive the public as funds (debt, borrowed from international bondholders with the repayment obligation assigned to U.S. taxpayers) are attained and redistributed to cronies and liberal constituencies intended to buy votes.
In Omaha Nebraska, not only were Federal “roads repair” stimulus funds insufficient, as well as State and local taxes already assigned to gasoline and sales for the “repair of roads,” but Omaha’s levied a new tax on people outside its jurisdiction that work in Omaha. Lacking any definition of work (one day a year?), and absent any representation by outsiders to vote these crooks out of office, Omaha’s yet another example of government grifters using the ploy of fixing the potholes and bridge rot they’ve enabled through their incompetence as a mechanism to steal more of our money.
It’s time for us to send the message to these elected officials and their unaccountable, fat-cat public sector employees: Public servant, obey!
kato commented:
No stimulus to the economy here, just to a handful of special interests. Paying for this latest stimulus and the bureaucratic boondoggles it will create will do more harm to the economy later than any benefit that will be gotten from it today.
Jivemaster knows there are no “shovel-ready jobs.” His party has made sure that every public project is held up and drained financially by lawyers, environmental activists, and regulators.
There will be a big mosque in lower Manhattan years before that huge gaping hole where the World Trade Center once stood gets filled. The only thing getting filled is lawyers’ pockets.
God bless America!

$50 Billion? Pfff! With union labor that may fix 5 airports or build 50 California schools. It won’t get started until the EPA, OSHA, National Labor Board, state inspectors, local inspectors, disabilities inspectors, building inspector, fire inspecter all approve the plans. Then you have to go through the law suits from the sierra club, pay offs to the politicians spouse and other various delays. This won’t even make an impact until 2020 and by then it will have cost us $250 billion. Does anyone trust any of these people to do their job properly? I wouldn’t trust them, any of them, with more than $10 and then I would want to have an itemized list on how they used the $10.

All you’re saying is that you failed to read what the man had to say.
Valerie commented:
To recap for those who cannot read, and who refuse to click the video link:
“It has failed to create the jobs promised. Rather than “save or create” 3 to 4 million jobs, the economy has shed 2.7 million jobs since the stimulus passed. It has failed to keep the unemployment rate below 8% as promised. Unemployment still hovers near 10 percent.
It has failed to revive the economy, as growth remains sluggish and there are growing fears of a double-dip recession.”
There’s not much argument about these points. In fact, that’s BO’s justification for this latest move.

Will someone do the math on this?Congress just passed a $26billion funding to save 100K teacher jobs for ONE YEAR. In this package equipment and materials would be more expensive than the salaries. It’s bogus and needs to be exposed.

You still have at least $300 billion left from the original February 2009 “porkulus” spending bill. Spend from that, if you think spending is so great. Why are you holding that back if spending is our savior?
No more spending, at least until older spending funds are depleted. And, even then, I believe we’ve spent far more than enough, especially considering it hasn’t helped our economy. Stop.

In my area of the socialst state of Michigan, they are working on the roads all right. They are tearing up and repaving perfectly good roads. The road crews are not from our area, but inner city crews. They have all the lovely signs the ones that have the acorns, and the tigers of the democratic party, announcing the democratic party and Obama are putting people to work. There are roads that despertly need attention, bridges need repair, but here they are wasting tax payer money. No one else is working, but the inner city road crews working in out laying communities. Our local road crews sit idle waiting for local work.
