The democratic-media complex is doing all it can to focus on Christine O’Donnell’s “tainted” past of late payments and abstinence hoping that voters don’t avert their attention at the former(?) Marxist she is running against in Delaware.

Self-professed Marxist Chris Coons hopes he can blend in with the Senate Democrats. It shouldn’t be a problem.

Democratic senatorial candidate Chris Coons is a self-professed Marxist.
The Politico reported, via FOX Nation:

An article Democrat Chris Coons wrote for his college newspaper may not go over so well in corporation-friendly Delaware, where he already faces an uphill battle for Vice President Joe Biden’s old Senate seat.

The title? “Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist.”

In the article, Coons, then 21 years old and about to graduate from Amherst College, chronicled his transformation from a sheltered, conservative-minded college student who had worked for former GOP Delaware Sen. William Roth and had campaigned for Ronald Reagan in 1980 into a cynical young adult who was distrustful of American power and willing to question the American notion of free enterprise.

Coons, the New Castle County executive who is running against GOP Rep. Michael Castle for the state’s open Senate seat, wrote of his political evolution in the May 23, 1985, edition of the Amherst Student.

The source of his conversion, Coons wrote, was a trip to Kenya he took during the spring semester of his junior year—a time away from America, he wrote, that served as a “catalyst” in altering a conservative political outlook that he was growing increasingly uncomfortable with.

“My friends now joke that something about Kenya, maybe the strange diet, or the tropical sun, changed my personality; Africa to them seems a catalytic converter that takes in clean-shaven, clear-thinking Americans and sends back bearded Marxists,” Coons wrote, noting that at one time he had been a “proud founding member of the Amherst College Republicans.”

“[I]t is only too easy to return from Africa glad to be American and smugly thankful for our wealth and freedom,” added Coons. “Instead, Amherst had taught me to question, so in turn I questioned Amherst, and America.”

He sounds like their dream candidate.

  1. Wow–so what’s not to like about this fellow? :-)
If Christine will focus on this alone, I see no reason why she cannot beat him! Her folks need to start spending some of that money we all contributed by making ads to point out his past and present Marxist views!

  2. Well, if you’re looking for “a reed swayed by the wind” — you’ve got him.

  3. He will blend in well with the other unemployeed Marxist come November 2nd. People like this should never hold public office or teach children.

  4. I think the key word here is “joke.”

  5. Plus, he’s Harry Reid’s “Pet!” Creepy!

  6. I wonder how many Americans can relate to her. I think there are a lot of people these days paying late or not paying at all. All thanks to the democrats. She has my vote because she has walked in my shoes.

  7. I think Christine O’Donnell will win because she typifies what we hate about the Good Old Boys Network which exists in both parties and today’s media. You know the types — we know better because we belong to the ruling class. Krauthammer who now trashes American voters for nominating a woman with no experience had no problem extolling the virtues of Obama until he only recently admitted he was wrong. Why doesn’t the Punditry come down on his Head? Oh yeah, he’s belongs to the ruling class.

The smart Republican office holders are supporting O’Donnell’s candidacy even if only verbally — because she is the people’s choice and putting down the voters choice is not a smart move in an election year.

Here’s to the Republicans who get ————-
WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE’RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. I believe that O’Donnell will be the beneficiary of that anger. You Go Girl!

  8. New rumor coming out of Delaware is that had Castle won he would have switched parties and kept the seat only a couple of years — leaving it for Beau Biden in 2012.

  9. “My friends now joke that something about Kenya, maybe the strange diet, or the tropical sun, changed my personality; Africa to them seems a catalytic converter that takes in clean-shaven, clear-thinking Americans and sends back bearded Marxists,”

    hmmm,dreams from my father.

  10. I know some of you are real upset with Karl Rove’s remarks about O’Donnell. All I want to say is, if you want to see Karl Rove in attack mode, this is it.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703743504575493724100982094.html

I hope Ms. O’Donnell deals with her challenges well and wins.

  11. Delaware voters may not be very happy with their self-described “bearded-Marxist” guy who proposed raising Delaware taxes by 25% and expected his constituents, who were struggling financially, to keep the county government workers in paychecks and pensions. Any candidate who sticks to the issues can show Coons for what he is, a proponent of the Obama agenda and a candidate who believes people who earn should give their money to those who don’t. Voters must decide based upon issues, not gossip. I support the candidate who won’t raise taxes during this economic crisis and who doesn’t support the continuation of this administration’s destructive agenda.

  12. Krauthammer, Rove and other sour grapes mainstream Republicans had better get their act together and stop the squabbling. They have to stop bashing of O’Connell and give her their full support. Their mourning over a dead RINO is a distraction. And the libs are just smacking their lips over it. All Repubs and Conservatives have to train their focus on the Marxist Coons and the rest of the destructive Dems.

  13. Well, O’Donnell’s supporters know what information must be brought out about Coons.

  14. To points, everybody knows the country is being spent into oblivion., by Democrats.

Second point — In regards to illegal aliens, every one of 20th century mass deportation was done for the same reason … Illegals, just stealing the jobs Americans used to have.

    Nothing will change either.

  15. From the article: “Coons, the New Castle County executive who is running against GOP Rep. Michael Castle for the state’s open Senate seat…”

Ummm, he isn’t running against Castle. Do people even read their own articles anymore? Do editors exist anymore?

  16. If any reporter asks Coons whether he’s still a Marxist, he will of course say ‘No’. He wants to get elected. But will any reporter have the integrity to ask the obvious follow-up: ‘Why not?’

It’s a question a lot of badly educated Democrats – including Pelosi, Coons and the president – would find difficult to answer.

Could any of them even venture a guess as to why the Soviet Union collapsed? My liberal friends babble incoherently when asked, because according to their ideology, the Soviet Union should have been a robust success.

  17. Sandy–BINGO!!!! Biden and Castle are joined at the hip; when O’Donnell ran against Biden in 2004 she incurred the wrath of the IRS. Remember Beau Biden had Larry Sinclair arrested, too. O’Donnell SOLD her house to raise the money to run against Biden in 2004, the IRS came after her shortly thereafter INCORRECTLY. Every bit of this smear campaign is coming from Biden/Castle partnership. Where does Krauthammer fit in this I am wondering. Anyone ever looked into his past?

  18. Just saw the date of the article: May 5th. My bad.

Guess they shouldn’t have ASSumed Castle would me the nominee, huh…

  19. So Delaware voters where left with two choices, Coons a Obama Socialist loving Democrat, or Castle a Obama Socialist loving Rhino. Wrong they opted to go for the new kid on the block, good for them. A possible win verse’s a guaranteed loss with either Coons or Castle.

  20. Use Coons’ own words, quotes and writings against him.. those he cannot hide from.

    interesting, but not unexpected..

    Obama’s Uncle

["Communism is like food to me" ]

    Obama’s Cousin

[Sharia was signed into law today, a victory for the Obama-backed Odinga putsch. Obama campaigned as far back as 2006 and $upported Islamist Raila Odinga in Kenya, and today, the poisonous fruit of that dangerous liaison became law.

Present at the signing of the new sharia constitution in Kenya was Sudanese President Umar al- Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for genocide, and is responsible for the death of millions in a jihad against the people of Darfur and Sudan.]

    Obama’s dreams from his Father..

[Now, a long-forgotten essay written 43 years ago by Obama’s father has surfaced, and its contents reveal much not only about the senior Obama’s grasp of economic theory but also the iconoclastic politics that, his son would later write, sent him into the spiral of career disappointment that concluded with his death in 1982 in his native Kenya.

Parts of the article, titled “Problems Facing Our Socialism,” have been making the rounds on several small blogs over the past week, but Politico is now reproducing the entire piece in its original form online for the first time…

Published in the esoteric East Africa Journal in 1965, the year after Kenyan President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta took power and the country declared independence from British rule, the paper takes a gently mocking tone to the Kenyatta government’s key, controversial statement of economic policy, titled “African Socialism and its Applicability to Planning in Kenya.”]

  22. Coons–Maybe it wasn’t the sun in Kenya that changed you to a socialist? While there, did you happen to run into a guy named Obama?

  23. Assuming this Coons dude is a marxist, could anyone tell me just why it’s such an impossibility for O’Donnell to beat him? Really, he’s easy fodder. For all of O’Donnell’s supposed faults, I fail to understand the conventional wisdom that she can’t clean Coon’s clock. He appears to have far more faults than O’Donnell. It shouldn’t be difficult at all to defeat Coons if she hammers him like he deserves.

    IslaMarxism

    ie: Oxford Islamic Studies Online

Diverse forms of Marxism agree that social ills result from oppression of the poor by the wealthy (class conflict) but differ on strategies to overcome poverty and establish social harmony. Marxism is also associated with atheism, based on Karl Marx ‘s view that religion is used by rulers to legitimate the status quo, causing many Muslims to reject Marxism. But due to the affinity between Marxist and Islamic ideals of social justice, some Muslims adopted various forms of Marxism from the 1940s, reaching peak popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. Their analyses often ignored materialism and atheism, rejecting the idealist view that religion is independent of historical conditions and holding instead that many of its manifestations are related to the societies in which it operates. Islam in this view ideally meets the needs of society and can both accommodate and guide social change.

  25. Democrat voters will only wonder whether he’s like Groucho, Harpo, or Chico.

  26. I know some people in Delaware. I will send this out in emails. These are businesses, but they need to know.

  27. bg–the fact that Obama traveled to Kenya in 2006 on the taxpayer dime to campaign for Odinga–a butcher of humans–and that Odinga forced his citizens to sign onto Sharia Law is beyond comprehension. This is one fact about Obama that has NEVER recieved the proper scrutiny or attention. Dear God, have we truly lost all sense of human decency?

  28. In the matter of Rove v. Palin power struggle, Christine is caught in the crossfire. Carl Rove is both hard hearted and illogical in not supporting the Delaware republican’s choice. If he would stop playing got’cha and setting Christine up for “I told you so” after the general, and start supporting her, he might then achieve the 10th gain in the Senate he’s salivating and obsessing over. I think he’s unwise and acting like a child by giving aid and comfort to her democtatic opponent,Koons. Ditto for Charles Krauthhammer.

  29. He has a masters degree in ethics from Yale Divinity School. How does that fit with being a democRAT?

That is an oxyMORON; a demoRAT with ethics.

    Right Maxine?, Charlie?

  30. And Dems are claiming they support extending the Bush tax cuts. No, they don’t.. it is just a ploy to try and get reelected and if voters are stupid enough to fall for it they will flip flop and not be for tax cuts.

extremely disturbing to say the least, and despicable at the other end of the Odinga Obama spectrum does not speak to justice.. “we the people” (aka: ants) around the globe are the elites (aka: grasshoppers) “victims”,
and imho, it’s way past time we revolted en mass.. JUST SAY NO!! TO WHATEVER ELSE IS COMING ie: CRAP & TAX!! don’t bother asking where the Reps are, as far as i’m concerned i know where they are not, ergo, they’ve finally been exposed for the collaborators they are..

  32. O’Donnell only needs 2- 3 ads to win this race. One like “free use” supplied above, shave Marx and turn him in the mirror into Coons.
http://www.damaverick.com/zenb87.jpg and how about a “mini-Reid” “MY PET” ad. Those two should be worth 10-15 points in the polls.

  33. O’Donnell goes from minus 16 to minus 11 after primary win
That is a PLUS FIVE improvement in ONE DAY!!

    Coons up big
    Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Republicans more than likely cost themselves a Senate seat last night. Chris Coons begins the general election in Delaware with a 50-34 lead over Christine O’Donnell. Mike Castle would have led Coons by a 45-35 margin.

    http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2010/09/coons-up-big.html

    Election 2010: Delaware Senate
    Delaware Senate: Coons (D) 53%, O’Donnell (R) 42%
    Thursday, September 16, 2010

Coons earns 53% of the vote to O’Donnell’s 42%, with leaners included. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

  34. Dude, he was joking.

  35. Coons has tried to play off the article as a youthful joke, but I don’t think my fellow Delawareans buy this pathetic excuse. Marxism, a joke? Which part is funnier, the miserable living conditions, or the genocide that always seems to follow? We’re not laughing, Mr. Coons.

  36. He and Obama have a lot in common because they are Maxist and went to Kenya. Mr. Croons want to raise more taxes and more spending. Christine is going to win on Nov. 2. She does have a good and positive campaign.

Jim DeMint is backing Christine O’Donnell 110%

["Republicans shouldn't give up on any race this year because there's an awakening taking place all across America as people reaffirm their support for America's founding principles," DeMint added. "They're not as concerned with which party is in power or who gets committee chairmanships. They simply want to elect new leaders who will fight for balanced budgets, constitutional limits, and individual liberty."]

“I’d Rather Lose Fighting for the Right Cause”

[Senator Jim DeMint: Well, according to them we’re okay. But the anonymous staff members that speak make me think that there’s a lot of anger out there. But it doesn’t matter. I’ve been here 12 years. I don’t want to be here 6 more years with the same people I’ve been with if they’re not going to stand up for Constitutionally limited government and continue to run our country in a ditch with all this debt. I mean, we’ve got to change this. There’s too much a stake. Really, there’s too much a stake to trivialize this debate with meaningless political labels like “liberal,” “moderate,” and “conservative.” I mean, we’re really at a crossroads of survival versus bankruptcy. And I think the more people that get this urgency, the more they realize I’ve got to step outside my comfort zone. I can’t just stay with incumbent Senators who keep voting for the Obama/Pelosi agenda rather than standing on principle with the American people where they really are.

Jonathan Karl: So you still stand by what you once famously said that about rather than having 30 true conservatives in the Senate than 60 that don’t really have principles. Do you still stand by that?

Senator Jim DeMint: I do. And I’ve said I’d rather have 40 Marco Rubios than 60 Arlen Specters and the reason for that is if you want 60 republicans, you’ve got to have at least 40 to start with who stand on principle. And if we can show America this election the clear contrast between the Pelosi-Reid-Obama agenda and more of a constitutionally limited government, if our candidates have that clear contrast, I think they’re going to win in every state. We’re going to have an earthquake election if we put the right candidates and I think that’s what we saw in Delaware last night. Christine O’Donnell has been maligned by everyone from the right to the left but people in Delaware love our country and they don’t want it to go bankrupt. They’re going see this contrast because now republicans are offering a contrast with the democrats who are going to continue this radical agenda with the President. I think the people in Delaware are smart and you’re going to see Christine O’Donnell win that election.]

clarifying what he said, because i heard him say it: he’d rather have 30 true conservatives in the Senate than 60 that don’t really have principles..

the better of two evils choice never again, Amen!!

  38. Chris Wallace is going to have O’Donnell on Tomorrow. I think he might just give her a decent interview.

  39. I can’t help it — I love the flying nun. Anyone who attacks her will come off badly. We can use her in the Senate.

  40. Just how do you be, “smugly thankful”? What an idiot of genius.

  41. This is ridiculous. Read beyond the title. It was written with irony. He come home and changed political affiliations.

  42. The lunacy on this forum is staggering. Read the entire article Coons wrote you crazy wingnuts. What is wrong with you people? He isn’t a freakin’ Marxist.

Anyone you don’t like is “socialist”, “communist”, “fascist”, or some other nonsense you make up to slander people.

Seriously, you people make Bill O’Reilly look sane. Do you realize how fringe you are? I think not. Get a clue.
