Christine O’Donnell responded to Karl Rove’s attacks today on Good Morning America.
George’s Bottom Line reported:
The Republican nominee for the Delaware Senate seat fired back at Karl Rove today for what she called “un-factual” accusations about her record.
“Everything that he is saying is un-factual. And it’s a shame because he is the same so-called political guru that predicted I wasn’t going to win. And we won and we won big,” Christine O’Donnell told me this morning. “So I think, again, he is eating some humble pie and he is just trying to restore his reputation.”
Following O’Donnell’s victory over Republican congressman Mike Castle – her third bid for the Senate seat– Rove questioned O’Donnell’s record and the reports of her financial troubles.
“Why did she mislead voters about her college education? How come it took nearly two decades to pay her college bills so she could get her college degree? How did she make a living? Why did she sue a well-known…conservative think tank,” Rove said on Fox News.
Rove also took on her “checkered” background, “a lot of nutty things she has been saying” and predicted she would cost the GOP a Senate seat.
Michelle Malkin defended O’Donnell against Rove’s attacks last night:
I just finished watching Karl Rove trashing GOP Senate primary winner Christine O’Donnell. It was on Sean Hannity’s FNC show. Might as well have been Olbermann on MSNBC. The establishment Beltway strategist couldn’t even bother with an obligatory word of congratulations for O’Donnell. He criticized her “character” and “rectitude” and claimed she hadn’t answered questions about her financial woes. She did so here. Rove mocked her security concerns as “nutty.” Yet, her concerns have been more than justified. See here (second video clip).

Psst: hey Christine, you’re running against Coons, not Rove.
Do the smart thing: ignore the temptation to lash back at the establishment, and focus instead on the guy who’s name will be listed above yours on the ballot in less than two months.
Going after Rove, or the NRSC, or Castle, or anyone not named Coons is not going to be a winning strategy for you.
Come on now; we need you to win this thing!

She put mud in his mouth for sure. I saw her on Fox & Friends, and now I like her. She’s real and unshaken.
That these career politicians are threatened by her, as they were with Sarah Palin, is very telling indeed.
I hope Karl Rove doesn’t sleep for 2 weeks. His 15 minutes are up….time to go the way of Al Gore.

Rove is dead to me now. Here we are fighting like crazy to elect conservatives and he comes along to pee in the pool telling us that we don’t know what we’re doing and that what we need are more dependable Rinos like Castle.
Sorry Karl, today you are the biggest loser.
Peggy commented:
She was good enough for the GOP in 2008 and she’s been working for this seat for a few elections. And Castle thought he was entitled? O’Donnell’s been putting in the work and is a solid conservative. I don’t see enough to indicate she has a real “checkered past.”
Rove was really low last night. Buh-bye!
Dave in dallas commented:
That was just shocking, graceless, and brutally dismissive of a very large part of his favorable audience. Rove revealed an ugly side, and for NO good reason! He could have waited a day before bringing up that crap. Classless, graceless, no congratulations. Rove is no better than begala or olbermann. So sad.
gary gulrud commented:
Karl, the voter’s this primary season have measured your “compassionate conservatism” and found you wanting.
Resign your unelected position as architect of the GOP. Make way for transparent leadership of, by, and for the people.
StandUp4Chuck commented:
What the elitist Republicans don’t understand is Americans as a whole are tired of the same old song and dance inside the beltway. We don’t want entrenched RINO’s representing us even to the point of having a Democrat in that seat. If having control of one house entails a RINO like Castle who votes with the liberals most of the time then why not have a Dem in that seat? Castle is a disease among conservatives. It is time to clean house of these types and clean out the top rungs of the Republican party. We will not stand for their backstabbing. I noticed this a few years ago and is a big reason why I don’t support any national republican party. Local is where we start, clean house there and the chips will fall into place. Are they getting the message? No, it’s going to take more then one RNSC RINO going down. Do I think O’Donnell can win? Yes, I think she has a shot. Does she need RNC/RNSC support? No. I will donate to her campaign. RNC/RNSC consider this a warning shot across your bow. Its time to shape up or ship out. WE WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT YOU AND YOUR RINOS!

Geez. Don’t the establishment GOPers have a better argument than “they’re nutty”? I guess it worked for McCain against Hayworth, but DE voters were wise to the lack of credible criticism against conservatism. The lefty pundits are clapping w/ glee over this. But what about their claim that the Tea Party is an arm of the GOP, hmmm? Their happiness over a “Republican implosion” is misguided. The power of the people is stronger than either party. It’s just too bad the Castle supporters are giving the left campaign ammunition.

I watched the Rove interview on Hannity last night and what struck me was the visceral hate he showed for O’Donnell. It was clear this was personal for him.
The respect I had for him before has now largely evaporated! It is clear to me that over the next three election cycles we must work (as conservatives and republicans) to eliminate any influence that RINOs have on the party.
Carl, you have lost me and likely millions of other conservatives! Please retire with some level of dignity!

The Establishment has taken a beating up and down the country and that has them scared. Rove showed his true colors along with quite a few others. What amazes me about Rove, is, he knows there are questions about Obama’s eligibility, and he remains silent on that. Is he working with Obama? Come on Karl, how about that birth certificate. Maybe if you see him, you can remove it from his face, that he says it’s stuck on, and read it.
Every member of Congress received a certified copy of Obama’s legitimate Kenyan birth certificate. The mailings were completed on August 31, by the man who got in from Kenya. They are lying to the American people. They all know he is not legitimate, and they are silent. I wish we could do what the first President did, and rid ourselves of all of them. You have shown what you are Rove. You, and the rest are complicit in Mr. Obama being where he is. Every parent who has lost a child since he usurped the Presidency, every wife who lost a husband, every child who lost a father, or mother. God will see to it, that you are punished with the rest. You are all part of the charade being imposed on over 300 million people. It’s like Hitler’s Germany around here.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

The action by the RNC concerning Christine O’Donnell is appalling to say the least. The people spoke and nominated her fair and square. They do not want any more milk toast republicans or RINO’s. For the RNC to say they would not support her is an outrage, she won and now they need to support her. This is one of the reasons I remain an independent, the Republican Party cannot be trusted to stay true to its conservative base, and for that reason this morning instead of sending my financial support to the RNC, I have sent my donation to Christine O’Donnell’s campaign. Either be part of the solution or get out of our way.

Karl Rove was simply being honest. I support candidates like Joe Miller who have credibility, but this candidate is very ethically challenged. Are we so desperate that we will accept any conservative candidate even if they lack integrity? In the long run, unethical candidates like O’Donnell will destroy the Tea Party. We cannot just accept candidates who say they are conservative and ignore their character flaws.

The TP may not win all of its endorsements this time but the elite pundits don’t know what the hell is going to happen. It’s wonderful that elections now are based on the will of the people instead of the wishes of the elite.
O’Donnell very well could win Delaware – this is a tsunami and we need to quit listening to these talking head experts! This may have been stated before in this thread, but studies have shown repeatedly that a panel of average citizens in any situation performs better than a panel of experts!
Well – far as I can tell – there’s a helluva lot of average citizens – and darn few experts. That’s the STRENGTH of the U.S.A.

Agree with your comment to Bennett#1, would also add that since this is largely a blue state that does not like Rove or trust the GOP all of this may help O’Donnell more than harm her.
Remember the poll that said the most electable candidate is a new republican and the most unelectable candidate is a republican incumbent.
O’Donnell is new and she just took out an incumbent.

As a result, given the size of this group of persons from whom the politicians have never heard in the past, I would recommend to all prognosticators to hold your thoughts about the consequences of the O’Donnell win until after the election and the “Silent Majority has had it’s say!!!!!
Chip Bennett commented:
@Robert:
Unfortunately, they are attacking her and she must defend herself.
Unless Castle stays in the race as a write-in or third-party candidate (is that even possible in DE?), the GOP establishment can do little more harm to her campaign.
The landscape now is for O’Donnell to win over as many liberal independents and Democrats as necessary to win the election. Given the huge disparity in voter registration in Delaware, it is doubtful that the GOP base solidifying behind her (or not) will have much influence.
And if GOP voters dont solidify behind her, that’s their fault. And shame on them.
Yes, they do. But She has bigger things to worry about right now. As do we – namely, how she can most effectively use her precious time and resources to win the DE-Sen general election.
Seeking (even well-deserved) apologies is a distraction to that end.

OMG, what an such an UNETHICAL POLITICAL horror!!
[O'Donnell attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she completed or nearly completed the work for a B.A. in English and Communications. She attended the commencement ceremony in 1993 but did not receive a degree, due outstanding unpaid expenses and her failure to complete a general elective course until seventeen years later in the summer of 2010. Her debt was satisfied in 2003 or 2005. After O'Donnell completed a final general electives course in the summer of 2010, Fairleigh Dickinson awarded her a bachelor's degree in English literature on September 1, 2010.]

If Castle were just a first or second term Senator I could see the argument of a 50% Republican being better than a 100% Democrat. But he has been in office 30 years and the way the Senate works is senority determines who chairs the committees. Arlen Specter is a good example of how much a chairman can damage his own party’s nominations to the Federal bench.
When the Republicans eventually retake the Senate lets hope we don’t have as many
50%ers in the chairmanships of these committees, as a maverick chair can stop any vote being released to the full Senate.
