In 2007, soon after the Bush Surge was introduced far left Senate Majority Leader told the American public that, “This war is lost.”
Well, the Bush Surge was a magnificent success…
But, Harry Reid’s Trillion dollar stimulus bill was a bust.

The CBO confirmed this week that the failed Pelosi-Obama stimulus bill cost more than the 8 year war in Iraq.
FOX News reported:
As President Obama prepares to tie a bow on U.S. combat operations in Iraq, Congressional Budget Office numbers show that the total cost of the eight-year war was less than the stimulus bill passed by the Democratic-led Congress in 2009.
According to CBO numbers in its Budget and Economic Outlook published this month, the cost of Operation Iraqi Freedom was $709 billion for military and related activities, including training of Iraqi forces and diplomatic operations.
The projected cost of the stimulus, which passed in February 2009, and is expected to have a shelf life of two years, was $862 billion.
The U.S. deficit for fiscal year 2010 is expected to be $1.3 trillion, according to CBO. That compares to a 2007 deficit of $160.7 billion and a 2008 deficit of $458.6 billion, according to data provided by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
The stimulus jobs cost taxpayers $195,000 each.
At least with the Iraq War we ousted an evil dictator, killed thousands of terrorists and established a democracy in the Middle East. The stimulus just left us broke.

Well ain’t this a fine mess you got us in Obama. I sure hope you don’t want us to believe you anymore … One whopper $841 billion dollar and done.
Come to think of it, one more thing you can do Mr President … stop the lies, it’s unbecoming a president.

middle east politics have changed dramatically. theocracy combined with 21st century terrorism makes it the epicenter of evil. if there were more will power and support we could have struck at iran. unfortunately, islamic fascism has proved to be a multiheaded snake. but they are scared, why else would iran be rushing to build a nuke. it’s all about keeping power and self preservation with these fascists.
liberals want to keep burying their heads in the sand, thinking good fences and dialog makes good neighbors.this was dramatically disproven on 9/11. in fact liberals are rushing to get back to pre 911 days. namely, huge payoffs to liberals agendas.
liberal agenda: war at home not abroad.

spend and tax, it’s all the dems know. people should have known when obama was throwing out meaningless slogans of hope and change while talking nothing about actual policies. the democrat agenda always boil down to: spend, spend, spend, with a dash of taxes to get through the next election cycle.

Lovely, so we all ignore that Saddam and Chemical Ali used chemical weapons on kurdish women and children, that Saddam’s clan (especially those two sons of his) raped and murdered their own people on a scale that is just disgusting, that he was a mini Hitler.
Yep, let’s all ignore that.
And last I checked I don’t see Iraq being under the control of Iran.
Iran doesn’t need a puppet state. It has people like you in the west.

Really stunning in contemplation of how disastrous the Democratic Partisan offering really is today.
Totally agree with ‘sliderblaze’.
Even after Two major military commitments in the heart of the ME, with the GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR after 9-11, needed primarily due to the incompetence – negligence of the Clinton offering prior. Even after the Clinton Recession of 2000, the enormous cost of the destruction of the WTC – some estimates of 9-11 run near 600 Billion. Bush and the Republicans had the Deficits shrinking in great shape, well under control, in healthy context to Our GDP, on the decline – heading for a balanced Budget.
Then in 2006, Democrats were given control of the HOUSE and Senate. Letting them have the White House removed the only check to their disaster.
We have been paying again, for letting them have power again. I hope we never forget this folly again.

How about counting the off-budget borrowing which really funded the war. That’s right folks, all those “supplementals” were off the books. To bad we still owe the money for the borrowing we did which never made it to the budget, meaning all these lesser deficits were deliberately underreported. Accounting chicanery in Washington, no way.
But what the hey; you all think Iraq is better off now. Turn on the BBC and learn about the world you think you are so safe in. We’re not.

You know, dufus, you keep parroting that phrase. According to the Washington Post:
The line is not likely to make this week’s eulogies to Ronald Reagan, but when Vice President Cheney allegedly declared, “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter,” he summed up an enduring argument from the former president’s economic legacy.

So everyone believes that since an unnecessary war (not counting the off the books money) cost less than helping Americans – then war is a better option? War is never the better option – ever. Clearly the money spent on the stimulus has better returns then the money blown on war… it’s just that for simple people war is easier to understand.
