Boy, that Trillion dollar stimulus worked wonders, didn’t it?
At least we won’t have to pay for it… Our children and grandchildren will.

A year and a half after the failed Obama-Pelosi stimulus plan, a record number of Americans receive government aid.
USA Today reported:
Government anti-poverty programs that have grown to meet the needs of recession victims now serve a record one in six Americans and are continuing to expand.
More than 50 million Americans are on Medicaid, the federal-state program aimed principally at the poor, a survey of state data by USA TODAY shows. That’s up at least 17% since the recession began in December 2007.
“Virtually every Medicaid director in the country would say that their current enrollment is the highest on record,” says Vernon Smith of Health Management Associates, which surveys states for Kaiser Family Foundation.
The program has grown even before the new health care law adds about 16 million people, beginning in 2014. That has strained doctors. “Private physicians are already indicating that they’re at their limit,” says Dan Hawkins of the National Association of Community Health Centers.
More than 40 million people get food stamps, an increase of nearly 50% during the economic downturn, according to government data through May. The program has grown steadily for three years.
Of course, if you believe know anything about the Cloward-Piven strategy of economic recovery you may think this decline in the economy was all planned.

I would think that it is higher than that if you include benefits like the “earned income” tax credit, subsidized housing, farm subsidies, “cash for clunkers”, “cash for caulking”, ect. ect. it seams like everyone has a handout.

Didn’t he want to encourage person responsibility or something? Why work, the money is free, as long as it lasts. The self esteem angle is also helpful.
Simple solution to the illegal alien problem, just don’t hire them.

For a marxist this means: working as planned.
Soon you’ll be at welfarestate costs of almost 50% of the annual budget, like Germany.
Once again I remind you (even some may already be bored of it, but I don’t care): Germany’s budget for 2010 is 320 billion Euros. Out of those 80 billion are new additional debt (25%) and 150 billion go directly into the German welfarestate (almost 50%.)
In comparison, the costs for the German welfare state in 2001 were 30% of the budget.

All these government handouts, yet the approval numbers for the Jivemaster and the Pelosi-Reid Congress continue to decline.
Except among blacks. Enough said.

With a real unemployment rate at nearly 20% and no job growth in sight, we cannot blame our fellow Americans for trying to feed their families. Until you’ve experienced the shame many of them feel by having to go ask for that help, perhaps you’ve no room to talk.
Rather than play the blame game, our energies might be better put to use trying to do something real to put America back to work!

Republican George W. Bush had his steady hand on America’s tiller during 2007 and 2008 and into 2009.
Nice try, though.

Granny,
We CAN blame many of our fellow Americans for cheating the system at everyone else’s expense.
For example :
USDA Choice Certified
Excerpt:
“the 2008 farm bill earmarked $1.25 billion to compensate a predicted total of 86,000 African American farmers for discriminatory practices against them. But according to the Census Bureau, there are were 39,697 African American farmers in the nation in 2007, and even fewer in previous years”

That’s the number of people that think Obamboozle is doing a good job.
If you don’t fire the dems this November, they’ll add another 20 or 30 million (bring in all the relatives) invaders with amnesty voting rights.
Then, the game is over.

Buddy G – the Pigford Scam is an entirely different thing than out of work Americans – people who are out of work almost entirely because of the policies of the Obama regime – having to go down and apply for food stamps to feed their children.

The Folly of Subsidizing Unemployment
My calculations suggest the jobless rate could be as low as 6.8%, instead of 9.5%, if jobless benefits hadn’t been extended to 99 weeks.

That there is a safety net that catches people who lose their jobs is a good thing. I fully support that.
But the problem is, if the welfare state gets blown up like in Germany, the UK or Austria, then the government will create a “class” of people who will simply milk it. And that doesn’t work, as Europe proves. The sad thing is, Obama is trying to copy exactly that.
And his disastrous economic policies seem to be aimed at supporting this plan.
Royce commented:
To be only 1 out of 6, this must include only those individuals receiving a direct monthly check from the feds. I think CSMonitor did a study a few years ago which included dependents plus other income such as subsidized housing, pensions, various grants etc, and the figure came up to about 50%. I believe the high using this criteria was at 55% during the Carter years until Reagan reduced it somewhat. I wouldn’t be surprised if the number was actually higher now under Carter II.
