Two Cardinal greats will join Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin this weekend.

American patriots and baseball icons Albert Pujols and Cardinal’s Manager Tony La Russa will attend Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally this weekend in Washington DC. This was a bold step for these American patriots.
The Post-Dispatch reported:
Cardinals first baseman and three-time NL Most Valuable Player Albert Pujols will be among several honorees at a highly publicized and potentially politically charged Saturday morning rally expected to draw more than 20,000 to The Mall.
Organized by Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck and featuring former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the “Restoring Honor” rally is scheduled to take place at the base of the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Beck, who met Pujols at Busch Stadium before a June appearance at Chaifetz Arena, is promoting the event as an apolitical celebration of the First Amendment and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, scheduled to introduce Pujols, insisted Thursday that he and Pujols are attending only after receiving assurances that the event is not a thinly disguised political rally.
Meanwhile unstable MSNBC host Ed Schultz will join race-baiter Al Sharpton at the counter rally.

To Tony and Albert: Yes, yes, yes!!!
To Al Sharpton: YOU are the racist. And a question for you and your readers: Why is a sitting Secretary in our government attending Sharpton’s partisan rally?

I wouldn’t be singing the praises of Albert Pujols just yet, considering he was in an article talking about baseball players boycotting Arizona:
=====
“I’m opposed to it. How are you going to tell me that, me being Hispanic, if you stop me and I don’t have my ID, you’re going to arrest me? That can’t be,” St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols told USA Today.
=====
Albert Pujols an “American patriot”? I don’t think so. If he is against the Arizona law, he is scum. Period.
HorendoRevolver commented:
by the looks of their pictures above , they sure look like “Old , White, Jesus Freak, Rich ,Gun Totin’ ,Tea Partying Racists” to me……hehehe….they’ll fit right in !!! Gooooo, Al & Tony !!!!!!!
gus commented:
Dear Albert. If you are reading this, please do yourself a favor. Read the Arizona bill. You have plenty of time. This isn’t about YOU, and it isn’t about HISPANICS. It’s about ILLEGAL BORDER JUMPERS. You are not going to be stopped nor asked unless there is a legal reason to stop you. If you are stopped and asked. You have nothing to worry about.
No more nor less than me.
Please try to learn something Mr Pujols. Children look up to you. Try not to be disappoint them. Educate yourself sir.
Gail F commented:
I don’t care of Pujols doesn’t like the Arizona law. He is a baseball player and is entitled to his personal opinion, and anyway this rally doesn’t have anything to do with it. But why is the Secretary of Education appearing at the Al Sharpton rally? That is disgraceful. After he is done holding that office, he can attend all the rallies he wants to. But while he is Secretary he needs to represent all the people and stay away from any political demonstrations. He should be dismissed.
down with dems commented:
I’m proud of them, if true. Tony would just be written off as an old white kook by the left, but it’s good to see him attending and was good to hear his support for the Arizona law. Albert being there will make it hard for some to cry racist… they don’t get more classy than Albert Pujols. I only hope he and his good name stay safe at and after the rally.
Gail F commented:
And did anyone else notice that the Post-Dispatch said the rally was expected to draw “more than 20,000″??? At least ten times that, from what I can tell. The coverage of this rally has been terrible so far and will, I predict, only get worse.
down with dems commented:
Oh, and: Al Sharpton is the biggest race-baiting race-card-playing racist on the face of the planet. Sharpton and his ilk are what hold back the advancement of blacks, if only they’d realize it.

Here is more from the ESPN.com article:
=====
“Pujols has been very vocal against SB1070 and other civil rights issues,” said Roberto Lovato, co-founder of Presente.org, among the organizations seeking a boycott of next season’s All-Star Game in Phoenix, to the New York Daily News. “We sure hope he continues to do the right thing this weekend.”
=====
Interesting. Who knew that asking for one’s identification was a “civil rights issue”.
I guess when people are asked for their IDs for buying alcohol, buying cigarettes, when pulled over for speeding, when voting (oops, no one asks for ID when voting, since it’s raaaaacist!), when at the bank, when applying for a credit card, etc… those are all instances of having one’s “civil rights” violated? Pathetic.

Michael in MI,
Like most urban areas, St. Louis has a large community of liberal jerkoffs (of course that’s redundant).

Ed Schultz knows nothing. Nooooooooooooooooooothing.
And again I insulted John Banner. I apologize.
Though, I wonder what the Austrian Jew John Banner, who fled to the US after Hitler occupied Austria, would say about this mosque and the people who support it or about the people who will prosted against “Restoring Honor.”

The other interesting thing is that I understand that Pujols and LaRussa have not been getting along since last year. It’s interesting that they’re willing to share the stage at Beck’s event.
