Sarah Palin tweeted last night – This may be Alaska’s “Miracle on Ice.”

Candidate Joe Miller is leading RINO Lisa Murkowski in the Alaskan GOP Senate Primary. The results may not be known for a week.
The New York Daily News reported:

Moderate Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski is trailing in Alaska’s Senate primary — though the final results likely won’t be known for over a week.

Murkowski, who was thought to be a shoo-in against Sarah Palin-backed challenger Joe Miller, is behind by approximately 2,500 votes with 84% of precincts reporting.

If Murkowski falls, she’d be the third incumbent Senator to lose so far this year — following Republican Bob Bennet and Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter.

Miller told the Anchorage Daily News that Palin’s support was crucial.

“I’m absolutely certain that was pivotal,” he said.

The race is being viewed as a litmus test for the Tea Party, who has backed Miller, and a continuation of the battle between Palin and the Murkowski family.

More…. Dan Quayle’s son Ben Quayle won his primary in Arizona after his gutsy anti-Obama ad.
Congrats Ben!

  1. Fingers crossed!

  2. According to Karl Rove there are 7-10 thousand absentee ballots outstanding. Murkowski will have to win 56-58% of the absentee ballots to win.

Of course, some of those ballots are military. This will be interesting to watch. Especially since certain news organizations were crowing in advance that Miller was going to lose big!

  3. Alexandra Gutierrez lashed out with a scathing column yesterday slamming Palin and predicting a resounding defeat of Miller. Her raw hatred of Palin was poorly concealed. And today her BOYFRIEND, Dave Weigel (slimy former WAPO journolister) is still beating that drum. Leftist lying greasy pig dogs.

  4. That 7-10 thousand number represents the number of ballots that hadn’t been returned, as of yesterday. Just because someone requested a ballot, it doesn’t mean they sent it in. The ballots must have yesterday’s postmark to be counted. There’s probably not more than 5000 ballots still in the pipeline. LM would need to get almost 70% of those to beat him.

  5. It is in times like these that Lisa Murkowski may wish she had ACORN on her side… ;-)

  6. Let us “decode” Palin’s secret message in this tweet:

    What she wrote:

“g’night! May Alaska’s opportunity to export our pioneering, independent spirit come to fruitation w/a miracle on ice!”

    g’night is codeword for ‘destiny’

Alaska, as we all know is almost all white gun-toting rightwing radicals.

‘pioneering, independent spirit’ is code for ‘invade & conquer’

fruitation is the signal that our time has come and

miracle on ice obviously means disposing of the bodies.

So, Palin’s real message here is:

“Fellow Alaskan rightwing radicals – Our destiny is here! Go out and kill all political enemies – destroy or confiscate their property. Once they are all eliminated, we’ll move to invade continental United States.”

  7. From American Thinker:

Alaska Upset: Miller leads Murkowski in the stretch
    Greg Halvorson
You want a shocker? A political thunderclap from the voting booths of America? How ‘bout Joe Miller, who in the final poll trailed by 12 points, and who was outspent 20-to-1, leading at sunrise over Lisa Murkowski?

Miller, a Mark Levin dark-horse and Palinite Tea Partier, holds a 51.5% to 48.6% advantage with 85% of precincts reporting. If it stays – and it is looking good – move over Scott Brown…. Turnout, turnout, turnout, Patriots-come November, we can shock the world!

    =====================

Sort of puts it into perspective, doesn’t it?

Bite your tongue. You never know what people are capable of when on the ropes.

  9. “continuation of the battle between Palin and the Murkowski family”

I don’t think it’s a personal battle with a family, but a battle with a corrupt, elitist Alaskan GOP!
    .

  10. And in MO we still ended up with Blunt. I think I’ll smoke one.

  11. Disappointed that Ben Quayle won last night. He is another RINO’S just like Sen. John McCain. The Democratic will beat him in November. Ben maybe have something to with this ‘dirty’ website in Arizona what I have been reading about for the last few days. He need to come clean and tell the truth about it. I heard him interviewed with Neil Cavuto on Fox News Network and Fox and Friends. I hope Fox News doesn’t invited him to their anymore because he is not conservative. The Republican Party need to have a clean house and get rid of these RINO’s. These RINO’s are just like the Liberal Democratic. I am glad to hear Joe Miller beat Lisa Murkowski, a RINO last night. Glad that Sarah Palin did a good job on this one.

  12. Three cheers for Quayle.

Nice to see Murkowski be challenged.

However, I have a different take. I am not a Murkowski fan, but I feel with all the HYPE about Mrs. Palin, she should be far more influential. I think in her home State, she should be able to – expected to empower a winner. The Hype is so overt, it suggests one should see a bigger victory.

In fact, her record of endorsement around the Country is actually below average. Her endorsing McCain and others is far from the ‘superhero conservative’ image as well. Especially picking a number of poor Candidates in the name of fashion.

Also, if this candidate she and Todd backed in Alaska, turns out to be as poor as say Rand Paul?

    Even worse…

Today’s help of a virtual unknown, could backfire yet again.

I really don’t like the vindictive state of the Palin Family in regards to the Murkowski’s either. I sense a real lack of maturity involved in this effort, and it reminds me of the Maverick voting against the Bush Tax Cuts due to spite. Something ugly about it all.

The most concerning aspect, is the continued push of some to simply focus on all the positive about Mrs. Palin, in a very vapid Celebrity cheer, which ignores the real basis. It often reminds one of the Democrats, who ignore reality, and it always ends up hurting all. We Conservatives use fact, basis, record, reason, etc., and don’t play hide and seek about the cons.

Fanfare tends to be overt, and we all lose. The Fred Head fiasco which helped John McCain is a primary example.

So now, the HYPE will be promoted again, chiming the one positive, ignoring the other loses.

Yeah, again, color me very unimpressed, and still seriously questioning the overt Fashion amongst our own.

Mrs. Palin has great potential, but she needs to grow, to be able to answer a simple question on Fox News, without looking down at a sheet of facts about the amounts of the Bush Tax Cuts.

2012 is essential, and we simply cannot have another disastrous McCain – Palin flop.

  13. JOE-MENTUM

It looks like Santa Claus might be bringing us an early Christmas present from the North Pole precincts of Alaska.

Joe Miller is ahead of Lisa Murkowski, but it is close and could be weeks before all the absentee ballots are counted. The Murkowski people are desperate and I’m sure know a few rogue elves who can deliver up some “lost” ballot boxes.

But so far, so good for Joe — who even were he to lose pulled closer than any polling suggested.

Last night on CNN I suggested that Palin’s endorsements only matter in some cases like Nikki Haley’s, but over all were no more impactful than other endorsements. Glad to say I was wrong. She’s five for five last night it seems with Miller bringing her up to six for six. And there are a number of state legislative races in Alaska where her support was critical.

Well done, Governor! Now let’s get Joe to Washington.
