The state-run media was excited to report yesterday that Barack Obama went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

Too bad he didn’t.
Alligator point is inland off the Gulf.

Alligator Point, Panama City, Florida
Could you imagine if the Bush White House would have tried to get away with this?

obama is the worst president in american history. obama couldn’t carry President George W. Bush’s jock strap.
Valerie commented:
I don’t know if he’s the worst president in American history, but our press has certainly been the most corrupt in the run-up to the election that saddled us with him.
The information was available but the New York Times and the Washington Post buried the unfavorable stuff, fawned over Obama shamefully, and outright lied about his capabilities and his campaign. Shame on them.
Reaganite Republican commented:
I’m starting a petition to strip Alligator Point of it’s name… where was one of those suckers when you need one
ProLifer commented:
Teepee full of shite.
Saint commented:
That’s…a very minor point. Its still really close to the gulf, and its still connected to it. If Bush had called it the Gulf, the press would have acted as if it were hilarious and stupid, but conservatives would have most certainly pointed out that the location is close enough, and presumably more secure, which is important for the President (bad or not).
In fact, the whole thing would seem unnecessarily partisan and would cheapen the press’s efforts as a whole…like this piece is.
I mean, its not even a necessary or useful point, since Michelle’s Fabulous Spain Adventure is much, much worse and proves the same point.
Gravis commented:
I thought the same thing, Saint. I mean I understand calling the media out on this crap, but it’s fairly moot to point out and ridicule. They’ll simply let it fly right over their head and scoff at such a ‘republican smear tactic’.

Ah crap! I have been busted again!
Yes, I lied about going swimming the golf. So what? Actually, I was in Panama City Beach, Florida and far a way from oil spill. The MSM will cover for me.
I can say there is a massive cleanup effort to remove all of my make-up, hair dye and oil from my hair from the beach. Sure, the bronzer will eventually wash-up on the beach and muck-up the birds.
And sure, the cost of the Secret Service removing all the people and alligators was about $3.9 million dollars, but that is a small price to for the tax payers to pay for my photo Op.
My limousine is running and I have a meeting with the Photoshop specialist at the AP to ensure my flotation device, big ears and all of my warts are digitally removed… plus whiten my cigarette stained teeth. After sucking Barney’s big hairy apricots there is a lot of stain. Good day.
ogee commented:
I was right…well partly. I said it was the pic was from their recent coastal Maine trip. I still believe that’s what it is.
OneSTDV commented:
So the media lied?!!?
Gringo commented:
It wasn’t the GulfGulf, or GufGuf.
archer52 commented:
Jim,
Easy on the hair splitting. I’m from the Gulf area. A half mile inside a set of barrier islands is still close enough to be called “the Gulf.” I spent most of my life fishing and boating in a sound just inside a set of island just like those where BO puttered around. You could see the Gulf, get to the Gulf in about ten minutes and the water from the Gulf flowed through the area daily. The point of BO’s swim was to show the Gulf was fine.
The real issue here is that the whole BP spill was overblown from the get go. How can you ban fishing because of the spill and FIVE days after it is capped open the fishing back up? Five days isn’t long enough to clear out toxins, if they were so dangerous in the first place.
Left hand, right hand. Where’s the pea under the shell.
Militant Conservative commented:
Terds float not swim. Could care less where you found the terd. powder is dry.
antilbr commented:
Good one militant….i kind of thought on the same line…the picture made me think of the movie caddyshack when Bill Murray threw the baby ruth in the pool.
DomesticGoddess commented:
David Axelrod magic again.
Kitty Crouch commented:
Obama’s damage to the Gulf region far exceeds that of the oil. Having him there to exploit the photo ops is like having the Son of Sam tout public safety in New York.
Auntie Em commented:
I am just amazed that he can swim….
Corporal Vere commented:
Lying sacs of excrement . . .
big L commented:
Well, there goes anothe weekend whence Axelrod co-opted the news cycle. No discussion of Finray,HealthNoCare, horrid tax rates that stiflle/kill jobs…and on n on…
they win. Don’t fall for it. Don’t let the Obams control the news cycle.
down with dems commented:
Anywhere Obama swims, he leaves behind a film of oil — SNAKE OIL. It’s a good thing he didn’t make it to the actual Gulf.
tomaig commented:
Hold on yourself there archer52…I grew up in Panama City and was for a few years a deckhand on party / charter / shrimp boats that passed Alligator Point twice daily. “”The Pass” – the rock-lined channel that provides an outlet from the huge estuaries of Bay County (North Bay, East Bay, West Bay, and St. Andrews Bay) was (and I imagine still is) the clear dividing line between the bays and the gulf.
Alligator point is NOT in the gulf of mexico. Couldn’t you see how brown and bayou-like the water appeared in the photo of Obama and daughter swimming? That’s not gulf water…that’s bay water.
Kelly commented:
I live near the Gulf in Central Florida. Anyone that has EVER spent any time near the water KNOWS that there is a HUGE difference between the GULF and INTERCOSTAL!!!!!!
Chuck commented:
I have read that Obama does not know how to “swim” And to Kelly’s comment: it’s intercoastal” Anyway, we all know this president will lie about anything. He will look you straight in the eye and “lie” He’s good at that and he should have been a farmer, since he’s good at handling all the “BS” I’m just sayin
mindnumbrobot commented:
Love and respect Hoft’s work, but this is splitting hairs. Alligator Point is, for all practical purposes, the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve been there several times, and it has the same beautiful beaches as Panama City without the crowds. It’s actually a good spot for the President to do his photo-op as it inconvenienced a lot fewer people than if he rolled through Panama City or Pensacola.
Dow commented:
He didn’t swim in the gulf because there were double red flags flying. This means the waves and rip tide were too strong to swim in. He was in the bay just around the corner where it was safe.
Atlanta Media Guy commented:
it is splitting hairs, however the media did not take the photo, it was provided by the WH propaganda machine. Why not say there were red flags flying? O would have gotten the benefit of the doubt. This only expands the issue into something they really don’t need right now. I know a man drowned down the beach about 7 miles due to the rip tides.
Why say something that is not completely honest, but why not explain why? This WH is really starting to implode. This moment is already forgotten since the Prompter messed up and told O to say something he should not have said at the If-tar Dinner.
WR commented:
There were double red flags (beach closed) flying over the weekend in Panama City Beach. He couldn’t legally swim in the Gulf.
Truth commented:
“Actually, the picture that you see with Obama and his daughter swimming was not taken anywhere near the Gulf of Mexico. It was taken near Marbella, Spain, where the Obama’s spent a week’s holiday. This was reported thoroughly in local press and radio, which I know since my mother was there at the time as well. They were staying at the Kempinski Hotel in Estepona, amongst other places. Only Michelle Obama was officially there…”
“An independent examination of the waters of the Gulf of Mexico by the University of Georgia, shows that more than 80% of the oil remains in the water, despite news to the contrary by BP and the US government.
Local fisherman also claim that they are finding large plumes of oil just under the water in areas that have been reopened for fishing by the government. They also said that often bubbles will come to the surface and pop like an explosion, indicating methane escaping from the waters.
The images of President Obama and his daughter swimming in the Gulf were a deception. At no time did you see a film of him entering the water. Nor did you see any background land masses or buildings to show for sure where he was. No witnesses or media were allowed.
Basically, the US government is tricking people into believing that the Gulf is safe to swim in and to eat the fish. That amounts to attempted murder. BP and the government officials who have deceived innocent people into being physically harmed should be prosecuted and imprisoned.”
The president is nothing but a face. He has no power. The real power is behind the scenes.
