In July we found out that hundreds of leftist media members on Journolist were conspiring to alter the results of the 2008 elections in favor of far left radical Barack Obama. Now comes explosive video that Katie Couric was mocking Sarah Palin on the day she was announced as John McCain’s running mate.
Conservatives for Palin reported:
As you can see, the video shows Katie Couric preparing to go on the air on the day John McCain announced Governor Palin as his running mate. It shows some tantalizing hints of Couric’s attitude toward the Governor–when talking about first Trig, then Track, Couric says “where the hell do they get these [names]?…” At that point the producer running the sound board shut off the sound because he or she didn’t want to have Couric’s disdainful and contemptuous view of Governor Palin’s children captured on even an internal CBS tape that they never expected would see the light of day. You can tell this by the “OMG!” reaction of the CBS news employees who were in the control room as Couric said that about the Governor’s kids.

bill-tb commented:
Couric is a journOlista? WOW big surprise. Maybe that’s why no one watches her show. And a show is all it is.
Carbon Monoxide commented:
She is jealous because Palin is a journalism major who actually accomplished something with her life.
Granny commented:
I see Katie can barely read her teleprompter. She she should be fired for conspiracy to defraud the American public and denial of our right to a fair voting process.
Militant Conservative commented:
Lol, yet another case of the left’s mask

Oooops!!!
Just watching her “clarifying” or “justifying” that situation should make Must-See TV…
I’m popping some popcorn!
Ronnie commented:
*yawn*
It seems to be common knowledge that we’ve been feed a porridge of propaganda, with just a few tidbits of truth thrown in, for years now. Why should anyone be shocked at this video?
More importantly, what can anyone do about this dishonesty and lack of integrity – vote Republican? I’m sure that will change everything. (/sarc)
Chisum commented:
I’ve been listening to the BO apologists trying to rationalize his abysmal poll numbers.
They keep pointing to Reagan’s poll numbers in his first term.
First, BO is NO Reagan.
Second, Reagan didn’t enjoy the sycophantic press that BO does. Quite the opposite! Reagan was brutally ridiculed. And he was experienced!
Unlike BO.
What would BO’s poll numbers be if he enjoyed the same treatment by the press as Reagan?
Granny commented:
Ronnie, there are more than a few things that people can do to illustrate their discontent with the status quo in the news & media industries.
One that comes readily to mind is to simply block the channels that feature Journolistas like Couric right at your cable box. You DO know that the media companies track that, don’t you? And advertisers buy ads on shows based on the number of viewing eyes. Every single one of us that blocks a channel like CBS counts in a huge way. No advertisers means no $ -
Don’t buy or rent movies that feature lefty actors. Lady Gaga’s recent performance in Phoenix comes to mind, but of course there are dozens more.
Don’t approve of the way that the NYT or Newsweek or whatever reports the news? Don’t BUY it – and stay off their website too.
Money talks.

Ronnie,
The Republicans may not be always correct, but at least they are not h*ll bent on remaking America into a marxist utopia.
Yes, we still have to hold their feet to the fire, but they are more responsive to the voters over all.

This is the same woman who wore a burka in a news segment from Iran, and bought her kids an alarm clock with the Muslim call to prayer. Hey Katie, I bet that wouldn’t sound so beautiful if you were at ground zero. She was obviously trying to pump up that wonderful, free country that beheads people, and stones people to death.
She’s a communist, what do you expect. An ugly, ugly cougar.
Ashen commented:
Nice glasses Katie. I used to have a pair of those when I was in the navy. They’re called BCG’s (birth control glasses) for a reason.
What an arrogant, self-centered twit she is. Self absorbed and incapable of imagining life beyond her NY ivory tower. I’m not a rabid Palin fan but I respect parents who work hard and raise their kids. I also respect a 20 yr. marriage. The jealousy displayed by Katie is obvious as she knows she could never succeed were she in Palin’s shoes.

Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva Muffin are my favorites.
But we all know it isn’t about names, it’s about the left’s absolute hatred for conservatives. They will mock anything conservative no matter how irrational.
Conservatives are just too independent and that bothers them.

GREAT question- what WOULD the polls be if
a) Obama wasn’t half black and those who are still intimidated by being CALLed a racist, felt comfortable being honest finally.
b) the press didn’t constantly cover up for his shortcomings and minimize the bad economic news for the president.
Hm? Any guesses how low it would/should be?

That Ms. Couric has contempt for Sarah Palin isn’t shocking or surprising. The real news is here is that we actually have a smoking gun.
TalkinKamel commented:
Whatever one thinks of Palin as a politician, the constant hating on her children, especially trig, is becoming downright creepy.
It needs to stop.

Taking it further, what about the early 70s when a certain segment of Americans stopped naming their children Lisa, Jane, Johnny and Leroy and started naming them Tawaya, Ayesha Jamal, and Barack!? And I sadly have to clarify that I am not being racist by asking an honest question.

The day our cable was installed, I never watched the mean-street- media again. I never watched them again-period, no day-time programming, nor night time viewing either.
I recall Katie as a tad too muscular and way too perky. In addition, we see she is a petty, catty woman as well.
Whatever. As long as I’m still free not to listen.
Patti commented:
We have folks who make it their business to watch these media types and they inform us. That means the remainder of Americans don’t need to bother giving them ratings.
Our curiosity needs to be curbed for the sake of protest and sinking the ratings for these deceivers and manipulators is an ideal way of making ourselves heard.

Brooklyn commented:
It is ugly, pathetic, typical Democratic Bigotry.
Katie is a tried and true fool, a big Bill and Hillary supporter.
Yet, just to note, the SOURCE of C4Palin, often uses ugly, pathetic, regretful rhetoric and name calling for many on the good side – including some admirable Republicans deemed competition for Mrs. Palin.
They are not an admirable aspect on the good side these days, having allowed their admirable devotion grow to rather hypocritical levels of fanatical denial.
They too, C4P, could step back, and rethink some of their nasty debasing of others on the GOP – Conservative side in the name of the Hockey Mom Celebrity.
But then again, maybe they are being paid by the Palin Franchise?

What in the world does this have to do with this “story?” Tell me, which parts of the video are “EXPLOSIVE” in your eyes? The part where Couric is suprised by weird names the entirety of America was surprised by? Or the part where she has trouble pronouncing the name of a town nobody had heard of until that day?
You have a right to pretend to be offended by anything you want, I’m just here to let you know it’s transparent.

StrngernFiction commented:
Alright libtard (aka Not Likely), I tried the nice approach with a simple innocent question aimed at deciphering whether or not you are capable of understanding our quite REAL outrage that the federal government, among other offenses, is SPENDING US INTO OBLIVION. A question that was quite relevant given that you had said the following:
“The fake outrage has been old for a LONG TIME guys.”
You see libtard, and I know you’ll have trouble rapping your pea brain around this concept, but we are REALLY PISSED at what is happening to our country. So when we come here, to an obviously political forum like this, we VENT. Now F*** OFF SCUMBAG. Hope that outrage is REAL enough for ya.
Andy commented:
To be fair, those names are pretty goofy. I’m a conservative, but I probably made the same comment the first time I heard them.
StrngernFiction commented:
This just illustrates what happens when you take the high road with a libtard.
Not Likely, I just asked a simple question and this is the response. Of course I’m sure your rage is quite REAL.
F OFF SCUMBAG!!! Hope that’s REAL enough for ya.
StrngernFiction commented:
If there is no problem with what she is saying here, why cut her mic?
I personally could care less what these morons in the MSM say, as long as they are up front about their bias. But they aren’t, and thus this is a story.
TalkinKamel commented:
Name-calling, and trying to bully the opposition with insults are Alinsky tactics, as well as trying to shut down conversations you don’t approve of, “Not Likely.” And that’s exactly what you’re doing.
You don’t approve of the subject of this thread? Well, no problem. Nothing’s forcing you to read it.
Not Likely commented:
It’s OK TalkinKamel, our nation will soon be torn apart by the tyranny of Katie Couric being surprised by weird names off the air and we won’t have to talk about anything ever again.

another doctored video? wonder how long before this blows up on your wingnut faces. one thing about being a wingnut is never to learn from old mistakes. or just sweep old errors under the carpet like it never happened. even when the humiliating mistake is just barely a few days old.
MathMom commented:
I voted for Palin/McCain, and my disgust with Couric is deep-seated and of long duration. She made me sick when she was with Gumbel on that morning show.
But actually, this is much tamer than the headline hypes it to be.
Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig are all unique names. When I first heard Track, I said, “Track??”
I assumed from the headline, that she was lampooning Palin’s intelligence, looks, or education, or calling her a hick from the sticks. It would be explosive if she had said Nicole Whomever was going to get her an interview and Couric was going to rip Palin a new one.
Gotta keep the rheostat turned down, y’all. This is tame.
Eden commented:
Track and Trig are wierd, but the Obamas’ names are mainstream? Hussein anyone?
Loved how his speech was historical, but as the first woman VP Republican, no mention there.
Bogdan from Australia commented:
I’m not sure about the roots of Palin’s children’s names but I’ve read somewhere that they refer to some elements of Inuit culture. It is understandable taking into accuount the fact that Todd Palin is Eskimo by origin.
In that light, the names of Palin’s children don’t seem to be bizare at all and her idiotic defractors (like that cretin Broklyn, for example) should make some research before spitting their poison.
Not Likely commented:
“defractors”
Is that past-present for “refudiate”?
MathMom commented:
Bogdan from Down Under -
Track was named because Sarah’s father was a track coach, and running track was important in their family. Bristol was named after Bristol, Alaska, where the family’s fishing business is located. Willow is named after Willow, Alaska. Piper was named after their Piper Cub airplane (and “because there aren’t enough Pipers in the world”, according to Palin in an interview), and Trig was named after a Norse god.
Still, it’s her choice, eh?
MathMom commented:
Excuse me, Bristol was named after Bristol Bay, AK. Not Bristol, AK.
Bogdan from Australia commented:
Broklyn, you miss the point again. You always miss.
It is true that some of her supporters on c4p site are sometimes over the top in their fervour to defend Plain.
It is however the result of an unprecedented for American politics (I enjoy following the US political life for dozens of yonks) barbaric treatment Palin received not only from the communo-fascist tools of propaganda but also ridiculous sneer and expression of disregard by some of leading political personalities from Republican Party.
Not only no one of the prominent Republicans rushed to her succor when she was fighting for her own survival but they (Romney, Huckabee, Shmitd, Krauthammer, Noonan, Parker) allowed themselves to spout their own bile towards her.
They all proved to be WRONG bout Palin.
Still almost the entire GOP’s NOMENKLATURA is trying to throw the logs under Palin’s legs in order to prevent her from winning the GOP’s nomination in 2012, even when she hasn’t announced that she has any intention of running.
The GOP’s APPARATCHIKS seem to be in almost total agreement with the DEGENERATE Democrats that ist should be ANYONE BUT PALIN.
In the light of such a hipocrisy, it is understandable that her supporters react with anger towards her defractors.
Remenber the treatment Nikki Healy got from South Carolina’s GOP’s morons when she began surging after she had received an endorsment from Palin?

Not a Couric fan here, but to call this “explosive, leftist”, a “smoking gun” or other nonsense is a bit over-the-top, to say the least. Many, many commentators in the media remarked on the Palin’s children’s names both on air and in print. They are unusual. The right wing certainly made it a point to use the Hussein in mocking Obama repeatedly which was also childish because he has no control over what his parents named him. Did any of you decide on your own name?
When you draw attention to minor things like this, it is demeaning to the candidate because you’re not talking about the issues of importance. Nobody came to Palin’s defense? The same can be said of Hillary Clinton and the abuse she put up with and the way she was mocked for her “whining” by many on the left and right, including Palin. Sarah is not doing herself any favors when it comes to the media, especially now that she has changed her tune and said she left her post as Governor because of them. The Couric interview was a disaster but to keep bringing it up repeatedly brings that to light, not helpful in the least. Stop complaining about the little things. If Hillary Clinton can put up with the press for the last two decades, I’m sure Sarah Palin can handle them for two years or she can do what she has been doing, avoiding everyone but FOX.
