Barack Obama skipped the 100th Anniversary Boy Scout Jamboree this year. He went on “The View” instead.
But he did send the scouts at the jamboree a video.

They booed him.

  1. BO did say his presidency was “historic”.

    I call this “historic”.

See, he didn’t lie about everything.

  2. This is a wonderful sight!

  3. That’s awesome.

This should be happening publically every time the Liar opens his mouth in public. He needs to be booed every where he goes by adults as well.

  4. Oh my! The leftist won’t be happy with this, and will try even harder to shove homossexuals into Boy Scouts.

They – leftists – have managed to destroy the Girl Scouts (filling their heads with feminism, lesbianism and other imoral things) but they haven’t been sucessful in destroying he BOY Scouts.

    Thank God!

  5. I’m glad whoever posted this video wrote the comment that the Boy Scouts were booing the president because he didn’t come in person. The Boy Scouts and the BSA are very respectful of the position of POTUS, and our leaders and authorities, regardless of who that person is at the moment.

Going on The View rather than going to the BSA 100th Anniversary National Jamboree is beyond the pale, too petty a political ploy to discuss, frankly. Just waiting for the typical leftists to cry…..wait for it…… “raaaaaaaacists!” or maybe even the ever-popular, “homophobic bigots!”

My son was there; he told me about the booing. I understand their sentiments. The Won should have appeared in person and postponed his “totally awesome!” taping of The View. Nah, not our Narcissist-in-Chief.

  6. Hmmmm. Just noticed on the video linked above that the comment was NOT on the video, although it is on the video linked at michellemalkin.com. Not sure why – but here is the link to the mm vid (commented on by Doug Powers):

    http://michellemalkin.com/2010/08/06/obamas-recorded-message-to-boy-scout-centennial-wasnt-warmly-received/

The “disclaimer” comment is at the bottom-left of the screen. It’s important to have that comment, IMHO – to avoid fueling the obvious attack bigots on the left.

  7. You know your in big trouble when even the boy scouts start booing. It seems that ALL the natives are getting restless with the oh so narcissistic Obama.

  8. Obama seems to be making friends everywhere….not!

  9. What we’re seeing here is the Obama machine training future republicans.

  10. As I said before, why pollute the Jamboree with The One’s presence?

  11. Obama is contrary to all that scouting represenst.

  12. The “disclaimer” comment is at the bottom-left of the screen. It’s important to have that comment, IMHO – to avoid fueling the obvious attack bigots on the left.

    —————————————————-

With all due respect, who bloody cares what the left thinks. This is the kind of sentiment expressed by those who are resigned to losing. Like I’ve said, I think this country is likely screwed beyond our ability to repair it, but I will not back down to the ‘rats. WILL NOT HAPPEN. The ‘Rat King got called out by some Boy Scouts. End of story. No disclaimer necessary.

  13. Hear that Barry? Do you like that?
All they can do is Catcall Barry O for now, just wait until they vote.

  14. @mmm

Do you mean to say that our Dear Leader wouldn’t be a good Boy Scout? Oh wait, Boy Scouts have to WORK to get their Merit Badges, must be the work thing the our Dear Leader is missing.

I’m so PROUD of these young men.

  15. As a former Scout, a long time ago, and more recently a Scout leader when my son was involved, it saddens me that Scouts would ever boo the POTUS.

But, those attendees of the Jamboree aren’t dumb and they will be voters in a few short years. Perhaps they’ve already learned that elections have consequences, a necessary addition to the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge.

  16. Hey libs, pay close attention! Please, I don’t care to hear your spin for the reasons why, but this clip shows the Boy Scouts hardily booing the President of the US. I think I need to repeat this so maybe you can ponder the ramifications. The Boy Scouts hardily booing the President of the US.

This clip should be included in all Republican political ads through election day!

  17. It saddens ME that we’ve had Presidents that SHOULD be booed and mocked everywhere they go. That’s just the sad reality in which we find ourselves. You can’t put the milk back in the bottle. All you can do is NOT play into the hands of the enemy. Which I’m sure is precisely what many of you think I’m endorsing, and that is where we disagree. We’ve retreated and fallen back more than enough in my book. I’m done with that. Boo this POS EVERWHERE HE GOES.

Oh, and Obama’s not showing up at the Jamboree wouldn’t have anything to do with his thin skin and the chance that he might be (gasp) booed? No, heavens no. It couldn’t be that.

  18. “I hope you can hear this!”

Yes, son, we do and so shall they in November.

    .

  19. Our president is such scum.

The Boy Scouts recognize this and have responded.

Every time the scum appears in public (not in front of his hand-picked SEIU/ACORN crowds, oh wait, he doesn’t make such appearances), he needs to be booed as he was in this instance.

    Go Boy Scouts of America!!!

  20. Did any one hear what the young man said at the last of the video? He said, “I hope you are watching this.”

Please someone send the video to the white house. You can do it from a computer at a libary can’t you?

Don’t want the fraud say he didn’t hear it!

  21. I know a NEW Eagle scout that was there as well as his father that is a troop leader and a Nurse coordinator for the O.R. I work in. I will ask him his take and get back to you. Barry is reaping what he has sewn. Hate and discontent.
May he get a gut load of it in November.
powder is dry, Barry is all wet.

  22. I think this is sad. Just like I thought it was sad when liberals used kids to sing songs about Obama (barak hussein obama, hmm, hmm, hmm). We should not be using children for political purpose. They should be allowed to be children.

Also, regardless of what you think of the president, he does deserve some respect. If this was George Bush or Ronald Reagan and a bunch of libs had their kids booo them, you guys would be upset. (and rightfully so).

I don’t see who we win when we become like them.

  23. “What goes around comes around.” “An eye for an eye” How many times does it take turning thy cheek before STANDING UP to a bully?

Your suggesting a controled environment. Due to the training in ethics, leadership and planning the BOY SCOUTS KNOW WHO THE TERD IN THE PUNCH BOWL IS. Sorry you cannot understand that BOYS know more about being an adult that the NOTUS. LOL, piss off you cannot dismiss this as adults telling the kids what to do like Government schools. THESE young adults know what leadership and planning is, they are taught this from day one.
Your what is wrong with America.

  25. It was a boy who called out, “The Emperor has no clothes!”

Yes, the Boy Scouts see through the partisan, vote groveling prez.

  26. I don’t think this is sad. I think it’s wonderful. There were no parents or teachers forcing the Boy Scouts to do anything. They did this of their own volition.

  27. Joe Wilson has indoctrinated the Boy Scouts! Just listen to this, Barack Hussein Obama, Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm.

  28. Oh my…now even (informed) children are booing the Messiah. The One no longer walks on water as he sinks like a lead brick.

  29. Hey, Tcat: There is a big difference between the kids singing Obie’s praises and what happened at the Jamboree. Can you guess what it is? OK, I’ll tell you. Political activists rounded up the kids and forced them to learn the song. The Boy Scouts, not at all. This was a spontaneous outpouring of their disdain for Obie’s political ploy to raise his numbers among the women who watch the view. The kids can’t vote, so they don’t count at all.

  30. THIS Proud LIFE Scout is very proud of these Scouts , I wish i could have been there! Thanks to all of you at the Jamboree…WELL DONE!!

  31. Great job Scouts!!! It’s time we ALL take this example and stand up to this corrupt, destructive government by vote or otherwise.

  32. Ginger, the same Lord who instructed us to turn the other cheek, gave us a total of four cheeks to turn …

… and a brain to know when an alternative response is prudent, before we run out of cheeks.

tcat … we aren’t like them. This was not the product of indoctrination … it was a response to a disrespectful act.

Respect is a two-way street. They respect the office — but the man in the office needs to give respect, if he expects to receive it for his own contribution to the office.

Deference to the schedule of media elites — something he could do almost anytime — while giving many of America’s most diligent and disciplined young men videotaped leftovers, is a snub that speaks volumes about how Re-, er, Progressives view institutions that have, and still, serve us well …

… and why their worldview should not be allowed to shape policy.

  33. PRICELESS

  34. If their parents keep these kids out of libturd-indoctrinating colleges, there may be hope for the future after all.

  35. My husband reached the rank of Eagle scout.

There is not a day that goes by where his training as a scout is not practiced. He is the most accomplished man I know. Backcountry skills, leadership, perseverance, hand skills, intellectual skills, reverence, critical thinking, respect for others, killer work ethic. The oath is more than empty talk. It is a way of life, for all time.

I am proud of these boys and this organization. They will not stand by idly and allow this great country to be vaporized by an empty suit. They know a poseur when they see one.

They know respect is earned, not demanded.

  36. In before Obama bashing

    Oh wait, too late.

  37. Boy Scouts Boo Obama
    As seen on YouTube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAWsy7VV8oE&feature=player_embedded

Scouts booing the president is a shocking and inexcusable breach of courtesy. The National Council owes the President an immediate and public apology. Each scout who booed, and their adult leaders, should write a note of apology.

Scouts and adult leaders alike pledge “On my honor, I will do my best … to obey the Scout Law…” The fifth point of the Scout Law is “A scout is Courteous.” Booing does not come under any definition of “courteous” that I know of. The scouts invited President Obama to their event, they decided to proceed with his video avatar, common courtesy required a respectful hearing of an invited speaker.

That said, I will indulge myself in the sort of “root cause” analysis that some on the left use to exonerate rapists, rioters, and other bad actors.

The scouts themselves are mid teens, ages 13-18. Kids do dumb things and it was no doubt something of a “wave” phenomenon. The president chose not to attend, as has been customary, the scouts booed the video. Having been an adult scout leader for some 10 years I can assure you that boys that age are not interested in the kind of policy analysis that might lead an adult to be critical of the president.

Which brings us to the adult leadership. Had I been one of them, I would have squashed any booing by the scouts under my supervision. I have no doubt that is what many of the adult leaders did. So the question is why did some adults allow it? My experience with adult scouters has been that they are by and large a pretty fine group of (mostly) men, whose political persuasions run the full gamut of far right to far left.

My hypothesis is that we saw a manifestation of the growing anger over a government that seems increasingly out-of-touch and uninterested in the views and customs of a large number of the governed, as described in the last week by Peggy Noonan in her August 7 Wall Street Journal column America Is at Risk of Boiling Over (http://online.wsj.com/article/declarations.html), and Pat Caddell in an August 6 (?) Fox News Interview (http://www.examiner.com/x-35976-Conservative-Examiner~y2010m8d7-Video-Democrat-pollster-warns-American-anger-has-become-prerevolutionary)

Some of the adult leaders may have been disenchanted with the president’s policies, others may have been disgusted. Still others may have joined in the booing. For whatever reason they were not as energetic in quelling the booing as they might otherwise, and should have, been.

When the Democrats booed a Boy Scout color guard flag ceremony at (I think I recall it was) their 2000 convention, it was dog bites man. Why would anybody be surprised when the party of abortion, sodomy, and surrender boo young men (who also pledge to do their duty to God and Country) presenting the American flag? When the Boy Scouts booed President Obama at their Jamboree, it was man bites dog. One wonders if the president was listening.

Footnote: For enquiring minds who might wonder my background for writing about the Boy Scouts. Two of my sons are Eagle Scouts, as am I. I helped start a scout troop, was the Troop Committee Chairman for 6 years, and have well over 100 camping days of adult field leadership of a scout troop.

  38. There is no equivalance with the singing schoolchildren. They were far below the age of being able to think for themselves. This was a boy scout event. While they may not be old enough to have perfect judgement they’re not as susceptible as the elementary kids were to influence from authority figures. If anything their leaders were probably disappointed in this response, because Boy scouts aren’t supposed to behave this way in uniform. However, sending a vid in lieu of a visit so he could go on “the view” is extremely insulting. He shouldn’t have bothered to record the video, it would’ve been less insulting.

  39. Nick;

I cannot disagree with you more. As a former troop committee chair, Scoutmaster and current Assistant Scoutmaster, as well as an Eagle Scout, these boys do not owe anyone a letter of apology.

The president of the U.S.A. is the Honorary President of the B.S.A. How can you have a national jamboree and not have the president of the organization not show up? Instead he was out trolling for votes and donations with the national coffee klatsch. And these boys knew it.

It was bad enough to completely snub these boys. Then to send a video? Come on. By virtue of his office, President Obama owed these boys his presence at this event. If he couldn’t be there, then he should just say so and let that be the end of it. But no, he has to rub salt in the wound by sending a video.

Here’s a clue: These young men don’t go camping, they don’t leave their electronics at home, they don’t live in tents for a week at a once in a lifetime event, so they can watch a video.

  40. As the father of two Scouts, I am ashamed of what happened and glad my sons were not present at the Jamboree to see this travesty of Scout values. No wonder BSA is in serious decline, too many scouts think their oath is null and void when part of a mob.

  41. u guys. i was there at the jamboree and i can assure you that most people were not booing him because of what we thought of him. We were booing him because he decided that it was better to go on some stupid tv show rather than help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting. Im pretty sure everyones idea of him was terrible to say the least after the video but before hand im pretty sure most people did not hate or love him.
