Alveda Celeste King, a pro-life activist and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, gave a powerful and moving speech to the 500,000+ patriots gathered in Washington DC today at the Restoring Honor Rally. Today was the 47th anniversary of her uncle’s speech at the Lincoln Memorial. Like her uncle before her, she also had a message.
Alveda King told the crowd, “I too have a dream!”
This was a terrific speech!

Ginger @ #1,
Who is “those people?” The people I saw at the Beck rally – and I saw nearly the entire thing live as I streamed it on my laptop – showed no “hate” in their hearts. Not a single one. In fact, the entire event was about love – love of God, love of country and love for each other.
Jim commented:
What a stirring speech! And what a wonderful way to honor her uncle and all of America.

I love Alveda & Pastor Stephen Brody(sp?). They’re fantastic!!! No victimhood baloney. Just good responsible regular people. Whereas Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and those types are pure race hustlers…..stirring up hatred and animosity sort of like a gang….where they try to lean on others to pay them for protection so they can continue their evil-doing. And Barry and Moochelle are playing the same evil game. Enough already. Everybody’s got excuses & hardships..part of life…..but this fostering of grievances and stirring animosity…….kind of same game the union bosses play…..or the mafia…….mis-use of power and control to they can seize power and control to wreak their evil doing. What more can be said then Saul Alinsky dedicating his book “Rules for Radicals” to Lucifer!! Thank God for Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin! Standing up for rightiousness and good rather then hate and evil.

I’m a local, and I was there, BTW, from 11am to 12, and wound up leaving, not out of any dissappointment per se, but just because I couln’t get anywhere near the speakers or the reflecting pool, and just because crowds kinda freak me out, and that was a MAJOR CROWD, lemme tell you. I was glad to be even a small part of it. (I didn’t know Sista Sarah was gonna be there. I’m an idiot.)
VERY inspiring numbers. Mr. Obama would do well to understand that there are lessons in history that a worth remembering that actaully did take place before 1960.

When that crowd cheered it filled the whole area. Unfortunately, in that clip you can’t hear that roar nor does it look as though the people behind her are even paying attention. Twana B. Sharpton got his shorts handed to him today. While C-SPAN’s giving “objective” coverage to that sad spectacle (as did Wapo), it was likewise sad in its attempt to equate the two events of today.
As happened 47 years ago, yet today another King stood in front of all and spoke of true change. Now if only the rest of us were to actually change, and understand what America was supposed to be.
That’s the one change we have never tried.

Very impressive.
He still bug me, playing the game at times, and I remain a cynic of the fashion.
One hopes this continued effort, this wonderful movement, coupled with the outstanding TEA PARTY Protests, the growing push for Republicans with sound Conservative – Center Right positions, etc., will erode the folly which enables this Disastrous Democratic Partisan offering.
I do grow concerned, and have expressed with many friends, associates, etc., on the right side of history, of the fashion which continues to treat the GOP, Republicans, etc. unfairly. The gross distortion and vivid fashionable disdain, distorting the record and slandering many honest Americans doing their best is tiresome, and weakens Our side.
But I welcome Beck doing his best, and the many who showed up to really make a great display.

Rand Paul said exactly “what?”
He made a very clear distinction that most totally miscomprehended, including you.
Alveda King’s speech celebrated how far we have come as one people since her uncle’s speech. You seem to want to turn the clock back to that day to maintain the negative tension, as do racial profiteers like Sharpton.
That argument has worn extremely thin, and even more tedious. A good troll should have a decent point or two.
Chkn Fryd commented:
jb: you can either talk or trample on the 14th amendment but I can’t hear you clearly when you do both.

By the way—exactly where in the 14th Amendment is private property suddenly and arbitrarily transferred to “public” ownership.
And speak/write like a rational human being. Your trash talk makes me wonder if you got out of the basement yet today and put on something more than your BVD’s.
Act like an adult.
Chkn Fryd commented:
You’re bringing honor back? No, not really. Try decency first, maybe politieness, but honor may be too much to ask right away.
Chkn Fryd commented:
WELL DONE JB. Quite right. The 14th amendment deals with the federal government making sure the state is treating you right. On a separate note, my contention is that if you open your establishment to all, civil rights laws mean you will have a really hard time saying, on an arbitrary basis, “so and so stay out,” even if you do own the place. Rand disagrees.
And if you agree with Rand, then don’t you have to shut up about the Ground Zero Mosque? I mean, they own the land, property rights rule, according to Rand, and the government should stay out of it. Or have I been listening a little too closely to the debate?
bitterclinger commented:
I attended the Restoring Honor Rally with the family today and it was incredible. Until you’ve heard half a million people sing “Amazing Grace” along with the gospel choir accompanying the bagpipers, well, you haven’t expereinced all that life has to offer.
And, Brooklyn, knowing what a Palin fan you are, I wore my C4P polo today but was hardly alone in the sea of “you betcha” shirts! As her intro was gearing up, the excitement was building in the crowd and you could hear people chanting “Sarah!” She was outstanding, but it was Beck who stole the show. (Alveda King really rang the bell when she talked about putting a stop to America’s baby-slaughtering culture.) For such a soft-spoken woman, she packs a heckuva punch!

Democrats created the KKK, fought against the civil rights movement and use it to beat conservatives over the head with to this very day. The Bible and the Constitution (initially, but you’ll fix that when you gut the 14th Amendment) never promised freedom to all God’s children. It took men, laws, and liberals working with solid conservatives (they were called Democrats back then) to make it happen.

Great debate tactic Slider – slight me for not responding to your facts while you don’t respond to mine. I’m not worried about a sherriff, I’m worried about Senators. And if you want to make it about Southerners, then ask all your Republicans to disavow their Southern roots IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, since for the longest time, no real southerner would be a member of the party made famous by the greatest domestic terrorist until OBL – Abraham Lincoln. These aren’t my words, just the sentiments of the good folks what I done growed up with, who are now mostly Republican. And where is the GOP strongest if not in the Confederacy? It’s called Southern heritage and they won’t disavow it, NOR SHOULD THEY. But they just want you to overlook it AND YOU ARE. Beck, who predicted that at least 100,000 people would show up, opened his comments with a joke: “I have just gotten word from the media that there is over 1,000 people here today.”
The area around the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington during a rally organized by conservative commentator Glenn Beck is seen in this aerial picture taken Aug. 28, 2010.
(Credit: AirPhotosLIVE.com) AirPhotosLive.com gave its estimate a margin of error of 9,000, meaning between 78,000 and 96,000 people attended the rally. The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company estimated was the rally’s high point.

Numerous very prominent Democrats issued dire warnings about the grave danger that Saddam posed with his WMD, and said we absolutely must stop him, with force if necessary. They all did an about-face when they decided it was politically expedient to attack Bush for the war they had themselves supported, and even to attack the troops in the field and do all they could to engineer and American loss.

I have been reading the Talking Points of the Huffpo and Talk Left. Let me give you two good points:
1: Most of those people were typical White People who are angry about high taxes. So, they are all racists. That’s no reason vote my cronies and I out of Office!
2: Beck only drew a few hundred-thousand. Al Sharpton got 3,000… of which 2,789 were bussed in – I know Axelrod paid the bill! And, cigs and bus fuel are expensive.
Yes, I know I suck but this crowd is too much. Good day!

You’re bringing honor back? No, not really. Try decency first, maybe politieness, but honor may be too much to ask right away.
——————————–
Politeness, that’s why you always pop up here with name calling, eh?
Leading by example, that’s where the left wing is so strong… wait… no… they ain’t.
The left is all “do as I say, not do as I do.” Well done Chicken. Maybe you should run for Politeness Czar.
And why is every Conservative protest I’ve seen peaceful, and every left wing protest, at one point, turns violent or is full of F bombs and other swear words?
Politeness… Good joke Chicken.

The liberal game is screwing with the language. Words mean things and this is the Liberals intent. Screw the language up so to make themselves “sound” likable and good when they are just liars and deceivers. Chicken choker is truely a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance. Slider you did well letting the ignorant show their stupidity. Good reading material and shows the left for what they are.

Awesome event. . . America is waking up! Time for the leftist dividers to see the power of these UNITED States. . . One nation UNDER GOD!
Thank you all who attended, watched, and supported. . . you are all patriots. And thank you Glen Beck for having the courage to stand up and make a difference!
And thank you to the brave men & women in uniform, Past & Present, who protect & defend our Liberties & Freedom, and for who this event honored! Freedom is NOT FREEE!. . Many have sacrificed much so others can enjoy the blessings in this country we hold so sacred.
Why would any true loyal & patriotic American be against this gathering??? Those that find fault may have another agenda. Be on guard!
The words spoken at this event were powerful and inspirational. So too were the stories shared, especially the three Sarah Palin told of the sacrifices by our troops.
And since words do matter, let us all go out and start speaking up. . . silent no longer! The truth needs to be told. . with Integrity and Love!
Oh, and speaking of words. . .I noticed there were no tele-prompters on the stage. . . these speakers spoke using only notes and what GOD has written on their hearts. . .
GOD Bless America!
PS See you all in November!

About the numbers at Beck’s rally. On Drudge, there is a photo taken from the west window of the Washington Monument that shows some of the rally participants.
Beck should immediately file a freedom of information request to the National Park Service for their overhead imagery. The weather was clear, so their helicopters will have good, time stamped images. Using the 200′ width of the reflecting pool as a scale, count the heads in a 200′ X 200′ square to determine crowd density. My guess is that there are 150,000 people visible in MLK Park and along the reflecting pool. There were probably twice that number under the trees. Add the folks between the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument (Michele Bachmann’s Tea Party), and we are well over a half million.
BTW: Ignore the ignorant, irrational ravings of Chkn Fryd. She is trying pathetically to distract and deflect our discussion.

Dick Morris had an interesting piece on TownHall yesterday. This isn’t Morris’ first midterm and he makes an interesting set of observations.
First, wonks like me have been paying attention all along, but many Americans are just looking at the campaign issues, a fact that is contributing to the rise of conservatives and the decline of liberals.
This is a slow tidal shift which will continue until a week to ten days before the election when it will turn into a tsunami. Democrats, unable to fix the economy they broke, will be slaughtered. There is no such thing as a safe seat.

Thanks to everyone who attended or contributed to this Restoring Honor Rally. I wanted to be there, but could not.
$5M in Washington is budget dust, but in the hands of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, it is a fortune. Just shows how much more effective the private sector is at accomplishing a task than is the government.

I went to the Mall yesterday to help feed my spiritual side. I was NOT disappointed. We (Conservatives) pray for a peaceful solution to the divide, the derision of Faith in this Country which was founded on Christian Judeo principles, taking this Country to a semblance (or further) of European socialism (which is not
where FREE people) want to go. HATE spewed by the LEFT, I will not say DEMS because there are freedom loving DEMS who are being overshadowed by their party, because we oppose going to that Monster of Socialism/Marxism/Communism. This is not good for our Nation. It may take many elections to RID ourselves of the elite who KNOW better than we huddled masses (Ask Joe Sestak and Casey, they tell me ALL the time).
They only things that can be REGULATED are the people, hence, the need for a Restoration in this Country. BACK TO 1787 WHERE MEN HAD PRINCIPLES, VALUES, HONOR, RELIGION, AND BESTOWED FREEDOM ON THEIR CONSTITUENTS!

I’m amazed and deeply pleased to see the Gary D’s of the liberal world display over and over again that they just don’t get it. Beck hopes for 100k in attendance, Gary counts only 96k at best which means…. what does it mean? I guess it means that the entire conservative platform is wrong, as are the rosy prospects for the 11/02 elections? Is that how it works?
By this reasoning, if a Super Bowl game doesn’t draw the viewership expected, the game doesn’t count, right? All NFL fans must then abandon football for soccer.
I want to thank Gary D for demonstrating the vacousness inherent in liberal thought and I hope he and other libs continue to keep playing that violin of irrelevancy all the way up until the last string breaks – on November 2nd.
