Connecticut Shooter Kills 9 – Said He Was Racially Harassed (Video)

A Connecticut man went on a shooting rampage today at a family-owned beer distributor. The killer, Omar S. Thornton, 34, complained that he had been racially harassed at work before killing his co-workers.
Breitbart TV reported:

The LA Times reported:

Nine people are dead in a workplace shooting in Manchester at Hartford Distributors, a family-owned beer and wine wholesaler, according to state police.

Sources said Omar S. Thornton, 34, was a driver for the company and was described by a Teamsters Union official as a recent hire and a “disciplinary problem.”

“The union was bringing him in to meet with the company to remedy the problem,” said John Hollis, a Teamsters official. “He started shooting.”

Thornton shot a number of people and then shot himself with a .223 caliber semiautomatic rifle as police approached and is dead, sources said. Two people were shot outside the building and five were shot inside, police sources said.

Hollis declined to describe the nature of the disciplinary problem, and he said he wasn’t certain if the meeting had taken place when the shooting started.

Joanne Hannah, who lives in the Enfield neighborhood where Thornton lived until about a month ago, said her daughter Kristi had dated Thornton for eight years. Thornton, who is black, had complained about being racially harassed at work. Thornton brought his complaints to his superiors, who did nothing about it, she said her daughter told her.

Steve Hollander, a member of the family that founded and owns the company, is one of the wounded, a police source said. He was shot in the neck, the source said.

My prayers go out to the victims and families.

  • Can’t wait till Nov.

Prayers also to the families. Another example of a Gun Free Zone?

The man was apparantly disturbed. Claiming racism in Conn is just wrong. That could happen in many southern states, but Conn is far more progressive and would stamp out the hint of racism before it escalated to name calling.

    Eat your words Van Jones

“You’ve never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never. They always say, ‘We can’t believe it happened here. We can’t believe it was these suburban white kids.’ It’s only them. Now, a black kid might shoot another black kid. He’s not going to shoot up the whole school. My cousin’s up in here, I ain’t gonna shoot up the whole school. I might hit my cousin. — But these young white men will be in so much pain and so isolated and so alienated they’ll shoot up the entire school”

Greg, please tell me your derisive swipe at southern states and the utopian fairy tale that Connecticut is completely void of all racism is a joke. Your remark itself stereotypes southerners and is inherently racist. Ask a friend to give you an honest opinion of how you are viewed by other people, because you have no sense of self-awareness.

Over the last thirty years, I’ve lived in the N.E., SoCal, France, Japan, the Rockies and the South.

The least racist place I have lived is the South. By far.

Greg, I’ve been around for a good long while – well over a half century. My mother was a Southern Lady who would have taken a peach tree switch to me until I bled if I had ever once allowed the “n-word” to pass my lips. My father was from New England. Growing up I lived in both the North and the South, and I have to tell you, I’ve seen far and away more racism in New England than I ever witnessed in North Carolina, then or since. None of which means that there actually WAS any racism involved here, just that you are in error to dismiss any charges or racism out of hand because this happened in Connecticut.

Don’t disillusion yourself by thinking what you do in secret will not be revealed in the light. You and and the race hustlers now have blood on your hands.

Well…is’nt this what Mileek Shizbutt of the new black panderers was endorsing in his “needs to be more caskets for whitey’ rant??

People like Greg who insist there is no racism in Connecticut (more “progressive”) are excruciatingly frustrating, not to mention ignorant. I’ve lived both in the South and the North, and I’ve seen more racism up North than I ever did down South. I just love these idiots who have never lived in the South–much less never visited there–who have these idiotic, throwaway opinions based on absolutely nothing but a sense of their own superiority. Greg, you’re a fool. Bias, prejudice exists everywhere in the world. And if anyone thinks that’s a good reason or even an explanation to raise a gun, that person needs to be locked up and the key tossed away. Disgusting and horribly sad.

You might have encountered people who used racist terms as water seeks it’s own level.

Strange, I lived in Fairfield County most of my life and don’t know any of the people you speak of.

If the company was racist, why did they hire a black employee? It would only be asking for trouble.
    My crime scene analysis:
He was a mediocre employee at best, required constant prodding to do his job. When told what to do he became loud and combative to his supervisors. He was a “disciplinary problem”, couldn’t get along with anyone, hated white people. He use the race card to get as far as he did. If he voted, he definitely voted for obama. He owns more than one obama t-shirt. More than likely he has a criminal background, and the gun he use was illegally purchased.

Blog out of the Hartford area:

Heroism prevented further tragedy in Manchester this morning. At least one Hartford Distributors employee who saw the shooter with a gun warned others at the Manchester company to run to safety, sacrificing himself. The alleged killer, identified as Omar S. Thornton, pursued that employee and shot him in the head, killing him, according to an eyewitness.

    My comment and mine alone:

I’m too pissed off to hold back.

Regarding that hero employee (which he most certainly happens to be)…….. If he had a firearm, along with maybe one or two of the other employees at the place, maybe he and they might be alive and talking about how he and they helped save EVERYBODY at the shop and dispatched the shooter to straight to hell.

But why should anyone care about something like the basic human right of self-preservation that’s also Constitutional in our nation.

The instant this starts up the anti-gun freaks, I’m going verbally ballistic at them. It’s gonna be personal and it’s not gonna be pretty.

I’m not gonna get into the union aspect of this multiple murder…….. I’m leaving that task to a friend of mine who has a website called Labor Union Report.

I carry a firearm because a police officer is too heavy.
