So will the state-run media ever report this news?
It wasn’t Bush’s War for Oil that bankrupted America. It was democrats.
American Thinker reported:

The Iraq War cost $709 billion. Why Carville, Bilmes, and Nobel-winning economist Stiglitz thought the answer was $3 trillion is anybody’s guess. But what’s a 323% error among friends?

The CBO breaks that cost down over the eight calendar years of 2003-2010. Below is a picture of federal deficits over those years with and without Iraq War spending.

…Do you see alarming deficits or trends from 2003 through 2007 in the above chart? No. In fact, the trend through 2007 is shrinking deficits. What you see is a significant upward tick in 2008, and then an explosion in 2009. Now, what might have happened between 2007 and 2008, and then 2009?

Democrats taking over both houses of Congress, and then the presidency, was what happened. Republicans wrote the budgets for the fiscal years through 2007. Congressional Democrats wrote the budgets for FY 2008 and on. When the Democrats also took over the White House, they immediately passed an $814-billion “stimulus.”

  1. No, they will do everything they can to deny it.

  2. The President and his Demoncrats ask if we want to return to the same failed policies of the Bush years… our answer this November should be ‘oh hell yes’.

  3. Oh, this is an excellent chart with great information to educate a public and defeat the liars.

  4. Do I want to see the same “failed” policies of a Republican Congress? Not only YES but HELL YES! These fascists currently taking over our government have got to go – impeached if necessary.

Have you SEEN the number of appointees that TheWon is simply putting in place while Congress is on vacation because he cannot get them through Congress? One of them is a Cuban spy – now will nearly full access to state secrets because she is the new ambassador to Ecuador.

  5. The truth will always win out…the truth will destroy the libtards….go ahead dems keep opening them big stupid pie holes of yours…i am going to enjoy watching the nov election results….that will truly be must see t.v….

  6. NOTHING TO SEE HERE MOVE ALONG!!!!

  7. Uh…..what oil?

  8. NOvember is going to be the time to vote out these lying, tax cheating, SOBs. The lies and corruption are beyond the pale.
Please research and publish the list of recess appointments so we can get on the case. They must be stopped and removed form office as soon as the congressional term expires.

  9. Wow, the facts are obvious, the emotive nonsense from Democrats is vivid.

It is stunning, to consider Democrats once again, as during the Cold War, decided to undermine the USA for it’s own personal greed, while it was trying to lead the Free World to liberate others living in oppression.

The facts never mattered to these unethical Partisans however, they will continue this lie for years.

Ironically today, the only good thing is the state of Iraq and the success of the Bush Administration efforts there.

    Smart power is a disaster…

  10. Even if you consider the war to be a factor in bankrupting America, Democrats have outspent Republicans on the war. See:

  11. The $3 trillion figure is a “meme” or attempt to set the number in the public mind by repetition. It’s been used by leftist hacks before, and since all three articles quoted are also by leftist hacks, it should come as no surprise they pick up and spread the meme.

It’s akin to advocate Mitch Snyder making up the number of homeless people in the ’80s. He later confessed he had no idea what the correct answer was, and no evidence to support the “3 million” number he gave Congress. He noted that the public likes to have numbers, and to spur action, the numbers needed to be big.

  12. I’m glad to see you’re all so passionate and fired up.
Granny, Obama has used the same amount of recess appointments as President George W. Bush had by this time period. While some of the appointees have views conservatives might find objectionable, many of them are being held up for reasons completely unrelated to their jobs or policy positions. Such is politics.
Furthermore, the ambassador you refer to, Mari Del Carmen Aponte, had a relationship almost 20 years ago with someone ALLEGED to be a spy. Whether or not he, Ms. Aponte’s boyfriend, was a spy for Cuba remains in question but the allegation seems dubious as the FBI has stated that her boyfriend provided valuable intelligence to the FBI ABOUT Cuba. Ms. Aponte has been cleared by the FBI of any and all charges against her. She’s been appointed to be ambassador of El Salvador, not Ecuador. Finally, she was given access to many of the “state secrets” you refer to 10 years ago when she was nominated to be ambassador to Dominican Republic. The sky has yet to fall.

As for the chart provided, I think it’s instructive you fail to quote any legitimate sources (ANY sources) making the claim the primary driver of the deficit was the war in Iraq. GOP policies, primarily tax policies, and a mild recession are typically the reasons cited for the shift from Clinton-era projected surplus to Bush, and now Obama-era, real deficit.
Keep in mind these are only the CBO’s projections of the direct costs of the war. Death payments, veteran care, etc etc do not factor in to those numbers.
Furthermore, hundreds of billions of dollars of deficit expansion in the current fiscal isn’t because of government spending but rather dramatically reduced tax revenue as the economy slowed. We can debate the efficacy of the stimulus, and the necessity of the Iraq war, but to simply cite “Democratic policies” as “bankrupting” America is blatantly partisan and demonstrably dishonest. Deficit spending, and by extension debt expansion, is historically bipartisan.

  13. This article filled with actual facts, libs don’t use facts they have “feelings”. They feel Iraq cost 3 tril and it was a war for oil, doesn’t matter if the facts prove otherwise.

  14. Great chart which exposes the lies of the democrats and liberals who cannot find facts and truth on the alphabet media, but always slam those of us that use the new media to embarras their simple minded approach to life and public policy. Latinos are Conservative.

  15. Here’s a link to some news about Jane Harmon:

    http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2010/08/dont-question-her-patriotism-but-rep.html

that’ll make you want to throw her out along with the rest.

  16. Facts are a terrible thing to waste.

  17. Are you asking the state run media to break their perfect record?

Truth and liberals just don’t see eye to eye.

  18. The graph only starts in 2003 … when the economy was booming. To be fair, it should include at least one full economic cycle. Of course spending increases in recessions. To say that the spike in spending is purely due to a Democratic congress while completely factoring out the biggest recession in 90 years is disingenuous at best.

A far more accurate graph with a more comprehensive breakdown can be found here … http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3036
