THE DEATH OF JOURNALISM–
The criminals in the state-run media planned to destroy Sarah Palin. We all knew they did.
There was even a movie made on how these leftist cranks obliterated the popular Governor of Alaska who enjoyed an 80% approval rating when she was selected by John McCain to be his running mate for Vice President.

Media Malpractice” reported on how the liberal media destroyed Sarah Palin:

Now there is not only speculation but proof that there was indeed a meticulously planned media attack on Sarah Palin.
The Daily Caller released its latest findings from the Journalist archives.

In the hours after Sen. John McCain announced his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate in the last presidential race, members of an online forum called Journolist struggled to make sense of the pick. Many of them were liberal reporters, and in some cases their comments reflected a journalist’s instinct to figure out the meaning of a story.

But in many other exchanges, the Journolisters clearly had another, more partisan goal in mind: to formulate the most effective talking points in order to defeat Palin and McCain and help elect Barack Obama president. The tone was more campaign headquarters than newsroom…

…Daniel Levy of the Century Foundation noted that Obama’s “non-official campaign” would need to work hard to discredit Palin. “This seems to me like an occasion when the non-official campaign has a big role to play in defining Palin, shaping the terms of the conversation and saying things that the official [Obama] campaign shouldn’t say – very hard-hitting stuff, including some of the things that people have been noting here – scare people about having this woefully inexperienced, no foreign policy/national security/right-wing christia wing-nut a heartbeat away …… bang away at McCain’s age making this unusually significant …. I think people should be replicating some of the not-so-pleasant viral email campaigns that were used against [Obama].”

…Politico reporter Ben Adler, now an editor at Newsweek, replied, “but doesn’t leaving sad baby without its mother while she campaigns weaken that family values argument? Or will everyone be too afraid to make that point?”

…Ed Kilgore, managing editor of the Democratic Strategist blog, argued that journalists and others trying to help the Obama campaign should focus on Palin’s beliefs. “The criticism of her really, really needs to be ideological, not just about experience. If we concede she’s a ‘maverick,’ we will have done John McCain an enormous service. And let’s don’t concede the claim that [Hillary Clinton] supporters are likely to be very attracted to her,” Kilgore said.

…Suzanne Nossel, chief of operations for Human Rights Watch, added a novel take: “I think it is and can be spun as a profoundly sexist pick. Women should feel umbrage at the idea that their votes can be attracted just by putting a woman, any woman, on the ticket no matter her qualifications or views.”

Read the whole thing.
Get ready to puke.

  1. Up until now, all the so-called mainstream media outlets could say claims that they are biased are just unsubstantiated opinion. Now we have solid proof – it is now a substantiated fact.

  2. The damage they did to her was incalculable, but I still believe some on the right who were brainwashed by this meme were brainwashed successfully. However, Sarah could make up for their potential votes with independents, ’cause it seems that every time an attack has been opened on her (this time, exposed) she has risen in the polls.

  3. Certainly this has been suspected for some time, but it’s nonetheless chilling that the “mainstream media” was behaving this way. Quite clearly, it is nothing more than a DNC propaganda arm that would make Soviet-era TASS blush. And people wonder why FoxNews outperforms its competitors by factors of more than 3 on any given night.

  4. The Journolist Peer Pressure Propaganda Proliferator’s for all practical purposes are dead inside and don’t know it.

  5. ADVERTISEMENT

  6. I shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Mainly that this is a surprise to anyone. Their “reporting” was evidence enough….

  7. Maybe it’s time for the Tea Party to show up on the lawns of these Journolist bigots and call them out. Just an idea!

  8. Exposed right before the midterms, We may not lose our country after all.

  9. Wonder if the MSM will cover this story? It seems huge…but they are pretty good at ignoring stories which reflect badly on them.

Do they dare not cover this?

I suppose like Charlie Gibson and Bob Schieffer they can claim they never heard of it.

  10. So, it will be interesting to see whether MSM fires any of these would-be journalists (members of Journolist)…
    .

  11. It was the very existence of Journolist that prompted the unbiased media to come up with the very effective counter measure of releasing liberal damaging stories in small doses over weeks, which ironically destroys the Journolist-ers.

    Ha Ha

  12. Is this not criminal? When media collude to smear a candidate (and his running mate) on multiple media platforms (tv, newspapers, periodicals, blogs) is that not a criminal collusion to manipulate an election?

Journalists have their Constitutional “freedom of the press” of course. But there are limits to this, a line that was set long ago but is seldom if ever challenged today. Where does that line get crossed, and when will the biased media (whether news journalists or opinion commentators) be held accountable for intentional, coordinated manipulation of the media message? In my view, this is the criminal quote of their collusion: “…in defining Palin, shaping the terms of the conversation and saying things that the official [Obama] campaign shouldn’t say….”

I know there is the old “absence of malice” defense. But – there is obviously malice intended, based on these email quotes. Media is not be mere propaganda, manipulating an election. Can these guys be held to account?

  13. I highly recommend purchasing Media Malpractice. Illuminating.

  14. Members of Journolist want to be respected as journalists yet need the comfort of using one another as an echo chamber. The take a way for me is that these people are quite insecure, narrow-minded, uninspired, angry people. Are these the best & brightest the media outlets can find? If there is nothing embarrassing about sharing progressive stream-of-thinking with your media buds, why shut down the site??

  15. Don’t forget “Faithful Citizenship” and it’s impact on the process.

  16. To VoteOutIncumbents # 9:

This is the take of the MSM: if we don’t put it on our media (print, tv/video, etc.) then it didn’t happen. Think about it.

They control the message, they control what is recorded in history.

What does anyone ever use to support his/her research? What was printed in the past, often in the newspapers, periodicals of the day, etc. These guys know the power they hold.

They also feel invincible, and impervious to any attack. The press has been hiding behind the “freedom of the press” – a valid right and necessary for a free society. However, it is now used for excusing irresponsible, outright lies and revelation of “news” because “the people have the right to know.” But……not when it doesn’t fit their narrative; they “control the conversation” to meet their ends. The ends justify the means. Alinsky, Bernays, Goebells – they would b so proud!

  17. Is this just a list of liberal journalists plotting how to support socialism and liberalism or has anyone else noticed that they have an anti-Christian theme and thus far, the overwhelming majority of the exposed persons are from the same religious/cultural minority. Is this also a plot against Christians and Christian morality and thought? Or is mentioning this enought to make people quake for fear of being called “anti-semetic”?

  18. I hope all these JournoListas are busily completing and submitting their (very late) FEC campaign contribution reports. Because anyone else who provided that kind of coordinated image-control service would have had to be paid (or if the bill was waived, have to report it as in-kind contribution).

What’s that you say? Those laws only apply to everyone else? Well, that’s a situation that has to be fixed.

  19. I have been saying for years that media political coverage amounts to campaign contributions to the left. But as ordinary guys, who listens to us? What lawyer will sue? There is no money in it for them, so they don’t bother and the nation sinks.

  20. Just remember ; The road to hell is paved with democrats…..

  21. What troubles me is that journalism in a free society has a responsibility to inform the public about the facts and they seemed to have forgotten that that role is the basis of their protection under the First Amendment.

Another modern trend is the media explaining not just what we should know, but what we should think. That was exactly what the journolist clowns were doing.

Like honor among thieves, there are ethics of journalism. The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) has published a Code of Ethics. The full text can be read here: http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp

I have taken the liberty of summarizing them below:

    • Seek Truth and Report It.

Be accurate and allow the subjects to respond. Identify sources and question motives. Avoid conditions for anonymity. Do not distort or mislead with headlines, video or audio. If you stage a story, label it as a reenactment. Collect information openly if possible. Do not stereotype or taint reports with your own biases. Separate analysis and commentary from fact. Special obligation: ensure that the government’s business openly and that their records are made public.

    • Minimize Harm.

Be sensitive to those adversely affected. Respect personal privacy of citizens. Show good taste. Do not identify juvenile suspects or victims of sex crimes. Avoid naming suspects before formally charged. Balance suspect’s right to a fair trial with the public’s need to know.

    • Act Independently.

Avoid conflicts of interest or the perception there of. Refuse quid pro quo. Resist pressure from special interests. Disclose unavoidable conflicts. Hold the powerful accountable. Do not pay for information.

    • Be Accountable.

Explain coverage and invite public discourse about your work. Admit mistakes and correct them promptly. Expose unethical practices. Abide by the standards to which you hold others.

If I were grading the main stream media against their ethical standards, they wouldn’t do well.

  22. In mid-2008 I made the following observation on a local talk radio:
“In the mid-1970′s the MSM discovered that they could remove a President. I make judgement call on what President Nixon did; raither, I note what the media did.
Now, 30 years later, the children from that era are trying to find out if that can do better.
Can they make someone president? Someone that a clear majority of the electorate wouldn’t vote for?
Unfortunately, everything todate says this is where the united MSM is going.”
I have to wonder what other “buzz” out there the media has built on equally false reporting.
Suspection, to observation, to confermation, to reaction. No wonder the established media – “news”papers, “news” magazines, radio, TV, and web sites – are going under.
Now there is a push to unite the liberal governement with the liberal media.

  23. Looking at what the Journolist members did against Palin, violated nearly every tenant of their code of ethics.

If I were grading these covert democrat political operatives against the their Code of Ethics, I would not give them an “F.” I would grade them at “Zero.”

  24. Something else to keep in mind – virtually every newspaper, magazine, broadcasting company, and movie maker in the United States is part and parcel of just one or two media conglomerates. Think AOL-Time-Warner.

  25. This is a disgrace. I see Bloomberg, Time, Newsweek, Washington Post, Human Rights Watch, Century Foundation, Mother Jones, New Yorker, The Nation, Politico, Economist, and a few bloggers. And I see those organizations colluding together to cast opinions as news. What a shame. All of you folks had better push really hard for White House media bailouts and ongoing funding from Obama because your collapse is imminent. You sold your souls and you don’t have enough money to buy them back.
As I have said before, you are doomed if your strategy requires darkness for success. We will never underestimate liberals’ depth of depravity again. Our strategy for the nation is clear and it is open. You should read it sometime. It’s called the US Constitution. And WE the people, promise to defend it.

  26. This is far more important than the possible racism of a low-level functionary. Good of you to post on it.

  27. Can’t these journalists be challenged on some anti-trust grounds? Trade associations of all kinds exist in which they talk about how to deal with this technical or govt regulation issue, but the associations are always reminded not to collude to keep out competition or control output. I think these journalists who were clearly colluding in order to control the election outcome and in order to dominate the media opinions about Palin, could be considered in violation of anti-trust. They colluded in how they’d produce their product to affect the news product that the public would receive in the marketplace. If they independently go there, fine; but this is out and out collusion with anti-competitive and anti-democratic goals in mind–which did come to fruition. That’s an anti-trust violation, I’d say, as an economist.

  28. This is far more important than the possible racism of a low-level functionary. Good of you to post on it.

    +++++++++++++++++++++

Peggy, you should start your own blog.

    Really.

  29. If you want this crap from the media to end, you have to stop clicking on Leftwing media sites and buying their magazines, newspapers, and watching their shows. For instance, the NYT was in its death throes up until today. Thanks to sites like HotAir constantly linking article after article to the NYT and other Big Left sites, the NYT is showing an increase in revenue from ad sales for their online division. Stop supporting Liberal media and the Liberal media will… stop.

  30. Hey, here’s an idea that helps lots of people.

Did you hear via Drudge Report and MYFOXNY.COM – Things are getting so bad in Newark that the mayor has ordered the government to stop buying toilet paper.??

Why don’t we ship all of our leftwing media toilet paper to Newark’s mayor to help them with their budget crisis? How’s that for a bailout?

  31. Liberal journalists colluded to paint tea party protesters as Nazis

    http://theblogprof.blogspot.com/2010/07/liberal-journalists-colluded-to-paint.html

  32. Sarah Palin should sue every one of those motherbleepers for libel and slander. She’s now got the proof: lies and malice aforethought.

  33. I have a blog. On Roman Catholic matters.

  34. Good to know, Peggy.

You should spend more time there. IMO.

Your continued criticism of Jim grows tiresome.

    IMO.

  35. The sad thing is that a year from now these same dishonest hacks will still have their cushy jobs. They will still infest the body politic and lionize each other. The NY Times and the Wa Post will still be the paper of record. Even if the government has to subsidize them. Welcome to the New Order comrade.

  36. Chisum,

I am on a mission here. Jim Hoft is being graciously (I’m sure w/financial considerations of course) hosted by a fairly high-brow magazine of Roman Catholic thought. GP is highly political reporting, not intellectual analysis. GP, while Hoft may be Catholic (?), is not running a blog with a Catholic theme or in consideration of Catholic morality or charity. I like his blog. I agree with his politics. I don’t like his handling of this Sherrod episode. I am not sure that GP is a good fit for First Things. The late Fr. Neuhaus, RIP, who founded FT, would not conduct discourse in this manner. So, I have a Catholic agenda here. And I’m I the same STL Metro area as Hoft. So, I’m interested in what he reports.

  37. The hateful Eric Alter-thing of the Nation teaches at Brooklyn College. I will never donate to their alumni fund now that I know that they have such as “respectable journalist” teaching there.

  38. Peggy,

Am I to understand that your constant carping and criticism of Jim is purely altruistic?

    Riiight! Just a tad sanctimonious.

Why don’t you post a link to your blog and give us the opportunity to critique it?

  39. This story is pure evil. We all knew something was up, but what it was? CNN picked up on this also, with their little lapdogs calling Sarah Palin stupid and unexperienced, and trust me it worked with some of my family!

They never once looked at the inexperience or lack of, with Obama. This worked! I cant even say enough about how totally evil these people are, and what should be done to them. I hope that life as they know it is never the same. I hope it gets so bad they never recover.

And a side note to Peggy:
I dont know why you think you can be the arbitor of whether this blog is a good fit for FT but I would say that is a decision of the owners. If you dont like what Jim posts, there is a little red X in the upper right hand corner, you should hit it.

Today, of all days, with all the news coming out on the complete CON jobs that the left has inflicted on us, you should celebrate the damn truth coming out finally! If not then the phrase of MYOB comes to mind.

They successfully conned the American people into stealing an election through deceit and conceit. You, as a Catholic blogger should see this clearly, even with Shirley, complete evil against a majority of good Americans. Complete evil. Blog that!

  40. Could it be Peggy is Sharon Rose?

  41. Of course Arch, I was thinking just that! They are so underwater with the latest breaking news of the last few days, they know they are in deep trouble!

So they bring in these creeps to comment on right wing sites to try and cover up the messaqe. Its not working and they know it. Oh and how they know it! The desperation is obvious!

Something is about to pop, people are so angry. I know that I am. I am sick and tired of all of this cheating and scamming and evil. God help us all.

  42. Oh and Jim Holt needs to set up his site to grab IP numbers so he can see who is manipulating his site with this garbage. Its time to fight fire with fire!

  43. Arch @ #45,

I don’t think that Peggy and Sharon aka “Stinky” are the same person.

However, I do think that Peggy is just as poisonous as Stinky. Have you noticed that Peggy claims to host a Catholic blog but if you click on her name…no link?

I find that passing strange. Particularly when I asked her for a link to her blog and she has yet to produce one.

  44. The criminals in the state-run media planned to destroy Sarah Palin. We all knew they did.

Yes, we did know, didn’t we? I don’t know about the rest of you, but as disturbing and even puke-inducing as this is, I feel good, vindicated, in a way, as the proof of the propaganda is leaked.

  45. Well lookie here:

Obama Campaign Adviser Participated on JournoList

  46. Good find, Chisum. Hey, no reply to me re: my blogging?

  47. I have a comment Peggy.

If your blog is on Blogspot, and not even on FT, why are you so worried, or “making it your mission” why FT has allowed Jim Holt to publish his blog here?

  48. ++

    the media attacked Palin??

news to me, oh wait.. /s/

    Chisum @ 5:59 pm #52

    my bet is..

so did his bus people, and all those other
radicals he sought throughout his ? life..

    ==

  49. Sure, Peggy, I have a reply.

For a self professed Catholic you sure are sanctimonious.

I wonder how you would feel if we left less than flattering, opinionated comments about you on your blog?

Given your complaints about Jim and GP and the issue of Firstthings hosting GP, I’m surprised that you honor us with your august presence.

Is this your version of mercy blogging?

  50. On the other side, this is a certificate to Sarah Palin’s incredible, almost super human strength of character.

She single-handedly (GOP’s NOMENKLATURA didn’t lift a finger to help her), with the unconditional support of her husband-friend, Todd and a plethora of her dedicated fans not only survived the unprecedented onslaught by Obama’s totalitarian propaganda machine.

She is coming victorious out of that struggle and she is becoming ever stronger with every battle she wins.

There is ABSOLUTELY no doubt (I’ve NEVER had it) that she is best both morally and profesionally quallified to lead the US but also the entire FREE WORLD in that dramatic moment of history.

God bless Sarah Palin! God bless America!

  51. Indeed, it is up to FT that GP is on its site. I am sure FT knew what it was getting. I do find it an odd pairing. I have from the beginning. If FT is okay, then so be it.

I am glad you appreciate my august presence. I am happy to be of service to you. To blog is to be open to critics. I have had plenty of them. I post them. I have taken some serious criticism to heart over the years as well. I don’t post comments with profanity, however, or rank name-calling or insults. Not all name-calling is intolerable, I don’t think.

In any case, I did not attack Hoft. I did not call him names. Are we only to flatter bloggers? I expressed my disagreement with several of his postings on Sherrod. [Not all, however.] He is free to discard or consider whether my comments have merit. [I have suspected over the years that he doesn't monitor comments much. I dunno.]

Surely, we can have free exchange of viewpoints–or not? I have said mine. Finit. I think this chapter of whether AB should have used the clip and whether that clip merited the accusations has become the past in most circles. That’s fine. Cheers to you.

Our experience with Journolist member (and committed Obama operative) Ben Smith during the 2008 general election

[Here in Chicago, we’re friends with a woman who used to give the Obama girls swimming lessons. She, and others who worked in the Obama/Rezko Mansion for various projects and assignments, was a source for a lot of what we know about The Lightbringer personally (his affinity for men, his Parkinson’s disease, his chain-smoking and continued drug use, etc.). Between people who’d worked for the City with Michelle, people who attended Trinity United with the Obamas, and people who lived and worked in Hyde Park near the Obama/Rezko Mansion, we collected many anecdotes that raised a lot of questions about the man the Media was pushing to be our next president…if any journalist wanted to follow any of these leads.

    [..]

We hope the public makes the connection that absent the Journolist members and the support they gave Obama, perhaps he would not have been elected and then maybe many in the public would still have gainful employment in an economy that was not deliberately ruined so our wealth could be redistributed.]

what your opinions amount to are opinions about your own opinions of others, and i’ll admit that’s not an easy thing to pull off, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.. especially when the goal is to subliminally criticize Catholics..

short as possible summary, not in the mood to write a novel,
and i’m certainly not going to play shrink a dink with you..

you address yourself as if you are somehow a superior Catholic.. while at the same time you personally criticize others who, in your opinion, must not be (whether they are or not i might add), not to mention there must
be something wrong with First Things for not living up to someone, who,
in your opinion, is also a superior Catholic’s standards, unfortunately this person cannot speak for themselves seeing as how they are deceased..

but like you said, you’re on a mission..

[I am not sure that GP is a good fit for First Things. The late Fr. Neuhaus, RIP, who founded FT, would not conduct discourse in this manner. So, I have a Catholic agenda here.]

whatever your mission is, it’s more clearly defined by what you haven’t exhibited vs all your underlying condemnations of GP, FT & Catholics via
the claims of inferiority laid at both FT & GP’s feet.. and claims of your
own presumptive superiority via FT’s founder (God bless him)..

iow: FT is collaborating with the devil (GP), and in YOUR opinion FT is not living up to YOUR standards, of which you not only have the gall to speak for, but lay the responsibility for at the feet of it’s very FT’s founder Fr. Neuhaus, ergo, your message is, Catholics have an agenda alright, they are INTOLERANT of those who do not live up to their standards.. Cheers, indeed..
