RINO Lindsey Graham Is Lone Republican to Vote For Kagan

This disgusting technique is never a necessary medical procedure.
But, Barack Obama’s Supreme Court pick Elena Kagan not only promoted it and lied about it with one medical group, she tried to push the American Medical Association to approve of the gruesome procedure.

The pressure on Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan has jumped this week thanks to a memo she wrote during the Clinton administration showing her pressuring a medical group to change its position on partial-birth abortion. Now, new files indicated Kagan also pressured a second group.
Kagan urged Clinton to oppose any meaningful restrictions on partial-birth abortion and went as far as manipulating the option of one medical group, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which said such abortions are never medically necessary.
Senators asked Kagan about that memo today during Judiciary Committee hearings and she explained her actions away by saying she wanted to help ACOG form a more accurate opinion.
Now, according to a report Americans United for Life furnished to LifeNews.com, Kagan’s lobbying for changes to medical associations’ positions while in the White House is further evidenced by an email found in her White House documents.
The email has Kagan clearly trying to change the position of another medical group, the American Medical Association.
Today Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) became the lone Republican to vote in favor of the nomination of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina on Tuesday voted in favor of the nomination of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, making him the only GOP member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to back Obama’s pick for the high court.
The panel, made up of 12 Democrats and seven Republicans, approved Kagan’s nomination by a vote of 13-6. Every Democrat on the panel supported her, while every Republican other than Graham opposed her. The nomination will go to a full Senate vote within the next few weeks.
“I’m going to vote for her because I believe the last election had consequences,” Graham said in announcing his support for Kagan. “This president chose someone who is qualified, who has the experience and knowledge to serve on this court … and understands the difference between being a liberal judge and a politican.”
Please, South Carolina… Find someone to run against this horrible RINO and get him out of the Senate.

Kagan at least replaces an outgoing liberal justice, so it’s still 4-4-1, meaning a 2nd amendment case will likely still end up 5-4. I’d like to see a future Congress impeach Kagan AND Sotomayor, specifically because Sotomayor LIED about protecting the second amendment.

I called Graham’s office last week to urge that he oppose Kagen’s nomination. I was told that the Senator believes that elections have consequences, and that he believes that the President has the right to nominate whoever he chooses. I knew then that Graham was going to vote for Kagen. Last Sunday the Post & Courier (Charleston) ran an editorial saying the same thing (elections have consequences), and praising Graham for his position.
While I agree that the President has plenary power to nominate anyone of his choosing, I believe that the Senate has complete authority do withhold “Consent”. Graham knows that there are many sound reasons to object to Kagen’s appointment to the Supreme Court, and he is avoiding them by deferring to the President, as though he is powerless to do otherwise.
He has broken faith with the citizens of South Carolina and the country. Senator Graham will find out when he stands for reelection that elections do, indeed, have consequences.
I, for one, will not forget this. And I will do all that I can to see that Graham is not returned to office in 2013.

I love the delusional folks who call Graham a “RINO.” Now, don’t get me wrong – I have no truck with Graham because of the same few issues most conservatives find fault with him over.. But he has a lifetime ACU rating of 89. There are no more than two or three sitting Senators with a better one – is everyone else a RINO?
Heck, even the evil Stalin was smart enough to take total control before he started the purges . . .
But if you geniuses think it’s such a snap to oust Graham in 2014, you have a four-year head start. Find a candidate who will beat him in the primary, raise the $2 million it will take to do it, and then call the office, mmmkay?
Some have suggested Nikki Haley, who will be our next Governor. But if Haley has a good turn at it, she’ll be a shoo-in for reelection, why would she risk it all to unseat Graham? Heck, she’d have to live in DC part of the year, some incentive . . .
Henry McMaster would be a better Senator, but I don’t see him making the race, and certainly not raising enough money to make it close.

Leaving aside the troubling homicidal threat one commenter just left (love the Christian attitude, guys!), there is one fundamental problem with all this anti-Graham ire: Kagan’s views on abortion, and the Senators’ opinions of those views, are completely irrelevant.
As Graham has pointed out repeatedly in the past, his job as Senator in this instance is only to advise on whether or not Kagan is competent to fulfill the position. Since she is, then he is obliged to vote yes. If she had been Harriet Miers, then most likely he would have voted no, regardless of her opinions.
A true Senator’s job in this matter is advise and consent, not voting no for cheap political points. Graham is just trying to be a grown-up, which makes him an increasing rarity in a party that seems to have been taken over by whiners, religious extremists, and paranoiacs.

As to whether I had a problem with Senators going after those right-leaning judges, sometimes yes.
Democratic senators who voted against Roberts and Alito weren’t doing their job anymore than the current crop of Republicans voting against Kagan were — I believed all three to be perfectly qualified for the job (particularly Roberts).
Bork and Thomas were a different matter. The first being so extremist he was borderline unhinged and the second being almost as unqualified for the job as Harriet Miers.
