Radical far left activist Shirley Sherrod told CNN today that Andrew Breitbart would “like to get us stuck in the time of slavery.”
Horrible. She certainly doesn’t know Andrew.
Video via HotAirPundit:
Radical activist Shirley Sherrod gave one of the most insulting and racist speeches in memory back in March to the NAACP. This week segments of the speech were revealed along with the outrageous response by the members in attendance. In the speech Sherrod admitted that she did not help a white farmer because she did not appreciate his attitude. Later she said the incident happened years ago. Of course, this racist act is cool with the left.
Now the state-run media is making her out to be some poor victim – a saint.
Today she lashed out in her typical racist style at Andrew Breitbart:
Would like to get us stuck in the time of slavery, vicious, never tried to get past race, not interested in seeing anyone get past black vs. white, vicious against a black President, hasn’t seen him do anything but try to divide us
What a vicious and offensive remark.
Shirley Sherrod owes Breitbart, the tea party, and conservatives an apology for her awful hate speech.
She is no saint.

Open mouth insert foot. Mrs. Sherrod needs to step back from the spotlight long enough to notice that her 15 minutes of fame are finished.
Slavery ended 150 years ago. Neither she nor Mr. Breitbart was around during that time and for Mrs. Sharrod to see every white person as a slave master is her problem and hers alone.
Blue Collar Todd commented:
I find her words just after the main part being quoted the most offensive. She says that Breitbart wants black people to end up there again, namely, as slaves. So Breitbart wants to enslave Blacks again is the conclusion we must draw from her interview here.

In addition to agreeing with you in principle, I could not help but be struck by one other little detail — if one believes Sherrod in regards to what she says Obama told her, somebody other than Barack Obama is in charge at the White House. Don’t we as Americans have the right to know who?

Breitbart stated that the person who sent him the tap wanted to remain anonymous, but I’m really getting curious who that person might be.

I voted for Obama despite being certain that he would be a reliable supporter of the left-wing of the Democratic party. I voted for him because I felt that he was the leader the nation needs to close ranks around its commonalities and succeed in bringing us together as a people by advancing more rapidly past the racial paranoias that increasingly grip us and separate us, black and white alike. I thought Obama would be the better leader to accomplish that. I was wrong.
Meanwhile,
“somebody other than Barack Obama is in charge at the White House. Don’t we as Americans have the right to know who?”
Sure there’s power behind the scenes. Otherwise a person with so little political experience could not have been given the nomination in the first place. (think of the other two very young presidents – Kennedy, Teddy Roosevelt – both had significant experience despite their youth).
I think the deal was “we’ll nominate you and we’ll get you elected but you have to exactly as we say” And everyone in on the deal is keeping their part of the bargain.
Do we have the right to know who made the offer to Obama? Well, sure. Just like we have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But – - “rights” are purely theoretical in the absence of a means to guarantee them. Guaranteeing rights requires force. We’re no longer a nation that is comfortable applying force. That will eventually cost us much more than comfort.

When you supp with the Devil, use a long spoon. Shirley made her now famous speech shortly after Holder and Vilsick announced the settlement in the Pigford II case. The corporation that she and her husband formed, New Communities, Inc., stands to get $13 Million in that settlement. That’s a lot of discriminatin’. I’d like to hear about what exactly happened to justify that kind of settlement. How was New Communities, Inc. discriminated against. I’d really like to know.

The democrat smear machine has done it again.
First, they fired Sherrod before Beck’s show aired.
Second, Beck read the transcript and said that her story was about redemption and not racism.
Third, Brietbart didn’t criticize Sherrod; he attacked the NAACP joyous reaction at her suggestion that she had, as a public official, discriminated against a white farmer.
Finally, Sherrod, who had once before sued the USDA as a victim and won, is not someone to dismiss from her position without due process and documentation.
Obama and his Ship of Fools are again proving their incompetence on the public stage.

Agreed. Had to be.
And once again, Andrew Breitbart posted, from the very beginning, the entire portion of her “white farmer” story.
As a person who went to school her entire childhood with MANY minority groups, I see beyond color and ethnicity. It does not register with me. What I do see is a culture that will not move beyond the hood mentality. The “white” people, nor the government, nor any other “group” of people are going to fix that. Not for any amount of money or effort. They must do it themselves. And, with “leaders” like Sharpton and Jackson, it will never happen.

Mrs. X commented:

@Mrs X. Agree 100%. Might I add “racialist grifter” A less visible Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton sort and a wee bit more intelligent.
Robert commented:
Let’s not forget her little aside remark “It’s not so much about white – it IS about white and black”
And “I took him to one of his own”
Both comments reveal a preoccupation with race, as stated on March 27 of this year.
Now, we have an assumption being promulgated that opposition to Obama is because of race, from a member of a race that supports Obama by some 95%.
I think that Sherrod is “not interested in seeing anyone get past black vs. white”.
seven commented:
Breitbart is classy and correct.
He asked for the NAACP to show racist acts by the tea Part. They didn’t and can’t.
He shows a racist speech at the NAACP. They are the racist ones. Sherrod lies thru her teeth and says Breitbart is not over slavery. How can she get by without showing Breitbart said that? T
The NAACP and sherrod as one of its minnions is still making false accusations of racism to cover their own racist agenda and speech.
mark commented:
The MSM is going to continue to spin up Breitbart and seek to destroy him. Remember radicals need to personalize their attacks. They need a person to target. I now believe the attacks from NAACP at tea party were “discovery attacks.” They need to discover WHO is defending tea party against race attacks and then they can select their personal targets. Breitbart appeared along this time so he’s going to be it. Sorry libs, game is over.
Hedgehog commented:
Hey Squeaky! The settlement in the Pigford II case is $1,250,000.000. When you write out the check for that amount it looks like this:
One Billion, Two Hundred Fifty Million Dollars. That’s one hell of a check. I want to know what happened to justify that. The way things used to work, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff. According to the Congressional Research Service, the plaintiffs had to show the following in order to be included in the class action suit:
• claimant owned or leased, or attempted to own or lease, farm land;
• claimant applied for a specific credit transaction at a USDA county office during
the applicable period;
• the loan was denied, provided late, approved for a lesser amount than requested,
encumbered by restrictive conditions, or USDA failed to provide appropriate loan
service, and such treatment was less favorable than that accorded specifically
identified, similarly situated white farmers; and
• the USDA’s treatment of the loan application led to economic damage to the class
member.
O.K. Fair enough. Make your case and get justice under the law. By going for a settlement the government is admitting that there was systemic discrimination against black farmers. That is pretty serious stuff. I want to know what happened. I don’t want that to be swept under the carpet. And at the same time, I don’t want to have to pay into a settlement for unproven claims. That is not justice.

Carl Eric Scott commented:
This conservative glee at calling others racist is unseemly. When you indulge in that sort of payback, you wind up accepting the idea that the merciless hypersensitive criteria for who will be counted a racist (so that the target gets linked with David Duke or Louis Farrakhan) makes sense. IT DOESN’T. And it came from the left. A poor Southern white who grumbles about the behavior of blacks in his neighborhood and who thrills when he sees the Stars and Bars is RACIST by this standard, but he may be one of the most generally decent persons you’ve ever met, and actually not hold the particular political and psuedo-scientific beliefs that properly qualify one as racist.
Similarly, this S. Sherrod strikes me as
a woman who for years has lapped up a black-power-shaped view and rhetoric touted by probably a majority of blacks, and has connected it to her family’s own very tangible suffering/oppression under very real racism. She lives in the liberal/black info cocoon and is clueless about conservative arguments. And by following the lead of redistribution-happy liberals and black-power ideas, her whole life gets invested in (easily-corruptible) reparational politics out of an initially laudable desire to protect black farmers.
Due to Breitbart’s own boneheaded mistakes and the rude incompetence of Obama, she gets painted her into a corner and made into a national icon. Are we so surprised that she lashes back in this way? Which of course, coldly analyzed, is foolish, paranoid, and logically supportive of a racialist politics(which she would never herself support–see her above wish to “get beyond black and white”). She should never have been hired for her position, that is clear, because she simply isn’t educated enough. As for the systematic mis-education that is much of contemporary liberalism, well it’s a pretty fundamental problem–see the ravings of the journo-list sophisticates, but note that those folks are sophisticated enough to never publicly make the comments Sherrod has. But the G.O.P. isn’t above dumb political appointments either, and it says very little if some yokel appointee some day gets made the center of a dust-up and cannot say anything intelligently non-offensive.
FAH on all of this, I say. Move on. And give that bloody R word a freakin’ rest. And conservatives, let this conservative academic warn you–you’re getting stupider than you once were on race, because you’re letting the idiocy and injustice of the “criticize Obama and you’re racist” line block out all other information. Many of you need to read a history of the CR movement. Go to sites like Booker Rising to see what intelligent black moderates and conservatives think. Stop vindicating yourself with the idiocy of so many of your opponents.
