Obama Pressures Israel to Apologize to Turkey For Defending Itself From Terrorist Flotilla

Barack Obama is pressuring Israel to apologize to Turkey for defending itself from a flotilla of Islamic terrorists who attacked Israeli soldiers in May.

Only 19% of American voters blame Israel for the flotilla ambush.
The Washington Post reported, via HotAir:
Tensions between Turkey and Israel escalated Monday as Turkey’s foreign minister said his country would sever diplomatic relations with Israel unless it either apologizes for its deadly raid on a Turkish aid ship or accepts an international inquiry into the incident.
The threat came as Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu prepares to meet Tuesday in Washington with President Obama. A Western diplomat, who spoke on the condition of anonymity before the foreign minister made his comments, said Obama plans to press the Israeli leader to apologize to defuse tensions.
“The president is very concerned about the breakdown in Turkish-Israeli relations,” the diplomat said. Asked if he thought Obama could persuade Netanyahu to apologize, the diplomat added: “I’m sure he’ll give it the college try.”

It was a totally lawful boarding party, NOT a “deadly raid.” The flotilla ship was acting in a hostile manner by refusing to heave to, broadcasting for weeks before it was going to run a standard maritime arms blockade, refusal to use or acknowledge that a very organized and efficient NEUTRAL United Nations office of operations handles ALL donations, aid, gifts to GAZA, deliberately passing off massive disinformation that they were “peaceful” and laying an intentionally lethal lynching ambush for the Israelis.
The “failure” is that the ambushed and underarmed Israelis got control of the mayhem despite all that deceit.
Turkey can’t go to a maritime court and file suit – the Israelis acted 100% legal and according to maritime rules of engagement for UNCOOPERATIVE vessels running blockades.
A ship behaving as that flotilla ship had could have been torpedoed. There are plenty of other countries that would have done just that.
