Media Shocked to See "Unexpected" Rise in Jobless Rate

The disaster continues…
And, the Obama-media continues to be shocked with the rise in the jobless rate.
Initial claims for unemployment benefits rose last week for the second time in three weeks, a sign that layoffs are rising.
The Labor Department says new claims for jobless benefits jumped by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 472,000. Analysts expected a small drop, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters.
Greater layoffs by construction firms contributed to the increase, a Labor Department analyst said. Home sales slumped last month after the expiration of a popular homebuyer tax credit. Summer layoffs in many school districts also added to the total.
The number of people continuing to claim benefits rose by 43,000 to 4.6 million, the department said. But the number of people collecting extended benefits fell by 376,000, as lawmakers have refused to continue the extra aid.

I’m in Michigan and wrote to one of my Senators about Cap and Trade. I got an email back about how we have to save the earth, and the green jobs will revitalize the economy, and we’ll all be living in castles in the clouds, riding unicorns to work.

AP in the KC Star reported this morning that EPA is denying permits to refineries in Texas. More jobs lost. Off shore drilling ban shutting down rigs. Jobs lost. Bush tax cuts will expire, less money to spend, more jobs lost. As Obama Care debacle kicks in, more jobs lost. Stock market crashing. More jobs lost.
Nonetheless, these job losses are “unexpected”. In other “unexpected” events, the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Shazam and Golly.

Meanwhile, in Ohio, the Dems tried to make the sheriffs of every county provide them with a LIST of concealed carry permit holders, in direct violation of state law. Luckily, the sheriffs refused, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where things are going now …

The news on housing sales has been negative, not just falling prices but also low turnover, for months, barely scraping up to level in only three areas of the country, over the last two months. With news like this, there was no reason for housing construction jobs to even hold steady.

Unemployment — Obama don’t care bout no stinkin Unemployment. Besides, as he says it could be worse at 12-13 or 15% so why should he worry.
Once we get all those Illegals here he can make sure they work for 1/2 of what Americans are paid and that they get preferential treatment when it comes to hiring.

Exactly – and by him publicly touting that it could be as bad as 12-13 or 15%, he is in effect priming us for those numbers. Kind of like during the campaigns (pre-election not post) he stated that next McCain would be calling him a socialist because he doesn’t share his toys…
If it’s out of context and yet has a ring of truth to it – but for other reasons and it’s coming from HIM (Obama) then he’s priming us, desensetizing us essentially to the truth that’s right around the corner. So when it happens or is discovered it has a softer, more acceptable blow to us.
His tactics are predictable and his methods are always underhanded. You can’t make 2+2 = 7 without some serious brainwashing and that’s what it will take to sell socialism to all of America. Don’t buy it!

No one is shocked at all. They know unemployment will rise and they are the cause. We are entering a time where our government is the biggest enemy to freedom and may very well try something far more sinister than forcing us all into their idea of Health Care, Finance Over-Haul and more. 74% Of American Voters Say Obama, Pelosi and Reid Have Done Terribly or Not So Good With Economy as of a few days ago. http://www.usofearth.com/polls/?p=186 This means that Obama and the Democrats are going to get the shock of their lives come November.
