In January 2009, before he signed his failed $787 billion stimulus bill into law, Barack Obama lectured America saying,
“Everyone must sacrifice for the greater good… Everyone must have some skin in the game.”

Everyone but the Obamas.

The White House announced this week that the Obama Family has three vacations planned for August. Michelle and daughter Sasha will travel to the coast of Spain next week with close family friends. Later in the month the First Family will vacation in Florida before their 10 day vacation in the upscale northeastern resort island of Martha’s Vineyard.

The vacations were announced after the president told the media this past weekend:
“We’re not that far removed from what most Americans are going through.”
Yeah right.

  1. Well, to be fair, destroying a great nation is pretty tiring. Why, I’m sure there are some weeks when he can only get to the golf course for six days. It’s enough to make Senator Ma’am rethink about how difficult her job is.

  2. Isn’t this what “royalty” does?

He’s rarely at the White House anyway.

  3. I’m absolutely convinced this is being done on purpose. And they do not care.
    But why?
Why else would they flaunt nice vacations, expensive clothes; talk about their retirement funds and their children’s college savings accounts…while awful things are happening to the people they are supposed to represent? It is shameful, reckless, and deceitful.

He knows that in about 2 years time they’ll be sitting in Chicago! Might as well take advantage while you can.

  4. Didn’t they just have a vacation…?

  6. Why else would they flaunt nice vacations, expensive clothes; talk about their retirement funds and their children’s college savings accounts…while awful things are happening to the people they are supposed to represent?

    —————————

Because they can. No one in the lamestream media is going to seriously challenge them on this. This is not the Reagans or the Bushes.

  7. Approximately a year into her husband’s first term, Nancy Reagan explored the idea of ordering new state china service for the White House.[85] A full china service had not been purchased since the Truman administration in the 1940s, as only a partial service was ordered in the Johnson administration.[85] She was quoted as saying, “The White House really badly, badly needs china.”[85] Working with Lenox, the primary porcelain manufacturer in America, the first lady chose a design scheme of a red with etched gold band, bordering the scarlet and cream colored ivory plates with a raised presidential seal etched in gold in the center.[85] The full service comprised 4,370 pieces, with 19 pieces per individual set.[85] The service totaled $209,508.[86] Although it was paid for by private donations, some from the private Knapp Foundation, the purchase generated quite a controversy, for it was ordered at a time when the nation was undergoing an economic recession.

The new china, White House renovations, expensive clothing, and her attendance at the wedding of Charles and Diana, Prince and Princess of Wales,[88] gave her an aura of being “out of touch” with the American people during an economic recession.[8] This and her taste for splendor inspired the derogatory nickname “Queen Nancy”.[8] While Jacqueline Kennedy had also faced some press criticism for her spending habits, Reagan’s treatment was much more consistent and negative.

  8. Please Mr. Presicent, go away….stay away…..give us a break. Be glad. A few days without him would be swell now, don’t you think>

  9. Well nothing is too good for the Boy-King & Michelle Antoinette!! We are mere peasants and we should be grateful that the royal family allows us to be their subjects. We are to eat our gruel and be thankful.

Would someone please start sharpening the guillotine.

  10. Wish he would stay on vacation. Powder is dry.

  11. We needn’t worry, while Wookie and Big Ears are out on their six-vacation spree (like most Americans this summer), Joe Biden is in command. Yep, he’s got it all under control.

If Obambi dares to tell us to eat cake . . . Just wait, you know it’s coming.

Thanks Obama voters. You can stick your heads back up your backsides until they call on you again.

  12. The lady is borderline royalty, descended from from kings back in the home(y) land. Why begrudge her and her daughter a few days away from her duties as first lady of the land with enough handmaidens and minions to make her life richer. What’s a few days of fun and frolic and getting away from it all away from it all?
Perks, people, if not used are gone forever.

  13. “Everyone must sacrifice for the greater good… Everyone must have some skin in the game.” Sounds like taken from Marx, Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Che, Pol Pot, etc.

What the heck is this “greater good” anyway? Who defines it? Some lying politician who has never actually worked in his entire life? A lying lawyer?

For my family? Yes. For my friends? Yes. For people I love? Yes. But for the “greater good”? No. Sod off. So that people who refuse to work get government money? No. Piss off.

How many vacation days does Obama have anyway?

If I would pull something like that I’d get fired.

  14. Hey Dude! Party on! We will catch you later, like in 2012!

  15. Do as I say, not as I do. e.g. smoking cigarettes, eating wings and other high cholesterol foods, etc.
J”F-ing” Kerry: Taxes for thee but not for me.
American royalty folks. You’re looking at it!

  16. I read that she has booked thirty – yes 30! – rooms at the Ritz-Carlton for the Spain trip. This is a 5-star hotel. Nothing but the best for “her majesty”.

Seriously, I can only hope this is a toe testing the water for ways to get out of running for a 2nd term. First Lady to Spain while husband has $30,000 minimum cover birthday bash in Chi-town. Is there trouble in paradise? Probably not — but it sure would make a great excuse for not running again. Presidency too much of a strain on marriage — have to resign, not run again, for the sake of the family?

    Just thoughts . . .

  17. Let’s just apply Saul Alinsky’s Rule #4:
“Make opponents live up to their own book of rules.”
    Mmmm…Mmmm…Mmmm…

  18. And yet when Bush or Reagan would go home to their ranches for a few days the liberal media was up in arms. The Liberal elite have a sense that they are entitled to live in opulence while taxing us into the poor house. Just compare Jenna Bush’s wedding to that of Chelsea Clinton’s multi-million dollar gala. If Jenna would have held hers at the White House, the left would have screamed that Bush was spend tax dollars on the event, yet i’m willing to bet that the Taxpayers will end up paying for most if not all of the cost of Chelsea’s wedding, either directly or indirectly.

it was said that the Bush and Reagan homes were set up to continue work – as in working vacations. same for camp david. and while the left politican works himself/herself into a lather while campaigning against the “rich” opponent
only to emerge after his political stint [or during it] as the same rich creater he was supposedly opposed to. much like the clintons/gores……and john edwards 2 americas

  20. Where does it say that We the People have to pay for her family and friends to go to Spain on our HARD EARNED MONEY?????????????????

    Pay backs are h*ll
    What goes around comes around.

  21. Just as Gordon Brown was a diminished Prime Minister, the O is a diminished President, getting littler every day.

  22. I’m torn here. If Obama stays and continues “working” his agenda, he spends hundreds of billions of dollars per day of our money. If he vacations (including his wife, her friends, his friends, their dog) they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per day of our money.

  23. So, why are the taxpayers paying for 30 of Mee-chelle’s friends?

I worry about Malia being left behind with Obummer. He’s weird around his oldest daughter…
    .

  24. The same mentality as the Section VIII parasite who gets food stamps, but who still doesn’t feed her kids because she’s trading that welfare in for some bling.

This is how grifters spend other people’s money.

  25. We’re turning into a cheesy, third-rate dictatorship.

  26. Another point of comparison with Obama vs. Bush and their vacation spots is the security. I would think that going to the same ranch every year for August (which was the same as the congressional vacation, which was rarely mentioned) meant that the place was set up for security, briefings, etc in the most efficient manner. I bet the accomodations for the Secret Service and aides was adequate and reasonable, but not in luxury hotels.

How much time is wasted scouting out the vacation sites and setting up the sites to accomodate the President? How much money?

  27. Oh yeah, Obama is living his life like me, my house has depreciated over $200,000, my kids and grandkids are living with us, we are living on our retirement. Vacation, what’s that! I certainly cannot afford to send any of my kids to Spain with friends. My friends are in the same boat as I am and we are sinking fast.

What a joke this President is! He is like a Carnival Master, an illusionist, selling oceanfront property in Arizona. Unfortunately, there are people who actually believe everything he says.

  28. The “media” isn’t going to mention it in fear of being called racist.

Isn’t that the standard…criticize the Black President and you’re a racist?

  29. They cannot be clueless.

Into our faces, every single day, they throw their elitist feces at us. Every single day.

This administration had better hope and PRAY the elections are fair and untampered with. They had better hope and PRAY that a manufactured crisis promotes any ideas that try to keep us from voting. We are tolerant and civil but every animal, including humans, have their limits and Americans are no exception.

  30. Re-reading “Rules for Radicals” and listening to the sound of blades being sharpened while I knit.

Will someone please change the locks on the WH while the royalty is away. It would be better for us all if the coup were a bloodless one…

  31. “We’re not that far removed from what most Americans are going through.”

True. Just last week Paul McCartney played a concert in my living room.

  32. This comment has made me angrier than anything before. And I am not sure why…I think it is simply that last straw! My husband and I work so much. We are squeezing our family of five into a little condo that keeps depreciating and we can’t sell. We can barely afford food and this guy tells me he understands because he faces the same stuff! Bullsh**!!!! I am so angry!

If I weren’t poor, if I weren’t working all the time perhaps I could do more. Would love to protest–any suggestions?!!

  33. MadasHell, #32, here’s a suggestion — for all of us. Pray, pray, pray hard to God. Under Obummer’s leadership, it is perfectly clear that we are under God’s judgment!
    .

  34. I have a sacrifice for this criminal. A Mayan sacrifice, you know, the kind that Mel made a movie about!

  35. “skin in the game” == “put on beachwear”

  36. Sen. Fuller Bull D’s “subtle” message re: Nancy Reagan’s purchase of china is met with a “gotcha” moment. The china, expensive and maybe not needed, it is still in the White House and can be used by future Presidents with pride. Please tell me where Americans can benefit from all the parties, galas, vacation trips the Obama’s have taken? Other than his not being in Washington, D.C. to legislate more of our monies and freedoms away, I see no benefits to me and my family. Let’s see….shall I boil macaroni and cheese for lunch or maybe cheese and macaroni….decisions, decisions.

  37. Jules,
Cheese? Isn’t that a bit extravagant?

  38. The Silence will be Golden!

However, the count is wrong. 4 Vacations. You forgot that they will be disrupting Chelsea’s wedding this weekend to the tune of a few million dollars!

Who will take care of the kids when they are finally indicted and prosecuted for Treason and Fraud? Maybe Sherrod is available as a nanny!

  39. What we’re seeing is a sense of entitlement based on racial grievance (against people who are less well off and never did anything to hurt them), in combination with a pathological arrogance and callousness that are distinct to the personalities of BO and MO.

It’s hard to know whether they’re so psychologically messed-up that they just can’t understand how offensive their behavior is, or if they are deliberately sticking it to the rest of us. If the latter, that’s obviously sick, too.

  40. Most people get one vacation per year – it is obvious Obama has no clue what the ‘little’ people are going through. He has some nerve comparing his high on the hog, life, with the average America.

  41. , ‘with the average American.

  42. Jules Hamil

I did not post about Nancy Reagan as a “gotcha” against her, or of people criticizing the Obamas. I posted the information about Nancy Reagan because of the double-standard being applied to her treatment of the purchase of china through PRIVATE donations. We are going through tough times and here we have Mr. and Mrs. Arugula having us believe that they are feeling the pinch like the rest of us. Add to that, we have a group of people who would have us believe that they are journalists writing about Mrs. Arugula’s wardrobe and vacation choices every day.

“Everyone Must Sacrifice For the Greater Good”

[But communists could not be wrong. After all, their knowledge was scientific, based on historical materialism, an understanding of the dialectical process in nature and human society, and a materialist (and thus realistic) view of nature. Marx has shown empirically where society has been and why, and he and his interpreters proved that it was destined for a communist end. No one could prevent this, but only stand in the way and delay it at the cost of more human misery. Those who disagreed with this world view and even with some of the proper interpretations of Marx and Lenin were, without a scintilla of doubt, wrong. After all, did not Marx or Lenin or Stalin or Mao say that. . . . In other words, communism was like a fanatical religion. It had its revealed text and chief interpreters. It had its priests and their ritualistic prose with all the answers. It had a heaven, and the proper behavior to reach it. It had its appeal to faith. And it had its crusade against nonbelievers.

    [..]

Communism has been the greatest social engineering experiment we have ever seen. It failed utterly and in doing so it killed over 100,000,000 men, women, and children, not to mention the near 30,000,000 of its subjects that died in its often aggressive wars and the rebellions it provoked. But there is a larger lesson to be learned from this horrendous sacrifice to one ideology. That is that no one can be trusted with power. The more power the center has to impose the beliefs of an ideological or religious elite or impose the whims of a dictator, the more likely human lives are to be sacrificed. This is but one reason, but perhaps the most important one, for fostering liberal democracy.]

“I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth.”

‘We are God’s partners in matters of life and death’

‘my individual salvation is not gonna come about
without a collective salvation for the country’ …

UCC member Sen. Barack Obama discusses faith and politics

["I believe that democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal values," Obama said. "Social justice and national security are both universal values, values that may originate for some in their religious beliefs, but are shared by us all."]

”I am certain nothing has done so much to destroy the juridical safeguards of individual freedom as the striving after the mirage
    of social justice.”

“I have come to feel strongly that the greatest service I can still render to my fellow men would be that I could make the speakers and writers among them thoroughly ashamed ever again to employ the term ’social justice’.”

    “For the Greater Good”

[In 1933 the German establishment thought it could use Hitler to restore a modicum of order to the confused and confusing Weimar Republic. In fact, Hitler did strengthen the German establishment, but not exactly in the way the bankers and businessmen had wanted; and now, fifty years later, it is clear who was using whom. Nevertheless, the Western World did not complain in 1933 because Hitler, though a fascist and a totalitarian, was seen, like countless American puppet dictators today, as someone who leaves the established order in place.]

    Young Obama Wrote Article Blaming
America For ‘Growing Threat of War’

[If Obama still has this sensibility, he could be poised to take American foreign policy sharply to the left, notwithstanding the centrist foreign policy team he has assembled. Moreover, since Obama didn’t recognize the Soviet menace during the Cold War and blamed the possibility of war entirely on the United States, there’s good reason to think that today he could lack the moral clarity needed to fight radical Islam.]

lack moral clarity, good reason, hah..

    that joke is on US..

  45. Hypocrisy?
    King James Bible
    Jesus said,
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their finger

  46. There’s a parallel here that I just can’t seem to shake from my mind. An elite has taken power and is saddling a conquered people with debt so that the rulers can live lavishly and dole out financial favors to their friends. One of the elite’s motivations is to do this to punish those who oppose them politically, including their daring to try to lower taxes. The punishment/reward system is also meant to cement in place a permanent controlling majority and remake the nation with an all-powerful central government. One aspect of the process includes villifying and stereotyping the conquered as having nothing but evil motives.

Naaah, maybe it’s just my overactive imagination that has me comparing this looting elite to the carpetbaggers of Reconstruction. Sure resonates for me, though, rightly or wrongly.
