Democrats for the first time are admitting that the GOP could take control of the Senate this November. The emergence of competitive Republican candidates in Wisconsin, Washington and California could give Republicans the 51 seats they need to take control of the deliberative body.
FOX News reported:
Democrats for the first time are acknowledging that Republicans could retake the Senate this November if everything falls into place for the GOP, less than two years after Democrats held a daunting 60-seat majority.
Leaders of both parties have believed for months that Republicans could win the House, where every lawmaker faces re-election. But a change of party control in the Senate, where only a third of the members are running and Republicans must capture 10 seats, seemed out of the question.
That’s no longer the case. The emergence of competitive Republican candidates in Wisconsin, Washington and California—Democratic-leaning states where polls now show tight races—bring the number of seats that Republicans could seize from the Democrats to 11.
Democrats now control the Senate 59-41—after the death of Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who was replaced by Republican Sen. Scott Brown—including two independents who usually vote with them. That means Republicans need 10 seats to take a 51-49 advantage.
Republicans would have to win virtually every competitive race to retake the Senate, without losing any seats of their own—clearly an uphill climb. The trouble for Democrats is that many trends are against them. Surveys show that Republicans are more motivated than Democrats to go to the polls, and that voters are looking for new leadership in Congress.

Conservatives must win in November — Beware of the RINOs!

I pray every day that when the voter goes into that voting booth they make the right vote. They must vote COUNTRY and NOT party. Get the word out people. I am an x democrat and I changed parties when Clinton was in office. I heard the rumbelings that something was happening to our country. It confirmed my beliefs when all we heard was Pelosi, Dodd, Barney Frand, Reid, Burtha, Kennedy, on and on of the democrats constantly going before the news media bashing President Bush.

By gaining even a few seats it will give the RIN0′s, who aren’t up for re-election, those like Scott Brown, Lindsey Graham… more wiggle-room to vote the way they would really like to–with the democrats.
I don’t foresee any major victory, even with all the motivation out there. We have waaaay too many RIN0′s. I don’t vote for anyone JUST because they have a (R) behind their name!

I am not on board with predicting a big GOP win. People have to keep in mind that Obama is sitting on a slush fund of several hundred BILLION dollars. And the media are going full bore to save his sorry rear end this November. They will stop at NOTHING to win. If I’m wrong and the Republicans sweep, you’re all welcome to say ‘I told you so!’. I’ll be fine with that. But until then, I’d keep my guard up.

Okay, will someone please explain to me, why in the hell in all these reports is JOE LIEBERMAN BEING IGNORED!
Folks, there is AN INDEPENDENT IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE FROM THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT.
Yet, you won’t hear that mentioned anywheres.
Republicans DO NOT! need to win 8 seats as all the major media is saying, rather only 7 seats cause of Lieberman.
Lieberman has already indicated over and over again that he’d vote for a GOPer for Senate Leader. 10 months ago, he officially broke any ties he had with the Democrat Party becoming a full Independent.
Eric Dondero commented:
ADDENDUM:
On the House side, a conservative Democrat Congressman-elect from West Virginia has already stated on the record that he “would not” vote for Speaker Pelosi.
That means that the number of seats Republicans have to win, to win a House majority is 38 NOT!! 39 or even 40, as some major media outlets are reporting.
Don’t buy into the lies. The magic number for a House majority for the GOP is 38.
It could be as low as 37, since Idaho’s Dem. Rep. Walt Minnick has also hinted that he’d vote for someone other than Pelosi.
Ladue Pundit commented:
Less talk, more work to make this happen.
The reason Lieberman is in the D column is his voting record: he’s for cap and trade, financial ‘reform,’ immigration reform, etc. His best friend Juan McCain is a RINO. The only thing he’s willing to vote for is war funding, usually with pork attached.
IF and WHEN the conservatives take the senate, people like Brown and Lieberman need to be denied key committees, just like their liberal friends, because we can’t trust them to vote in the interests of free people.

I’m beginning to wonder if the best scenario might be for Republicans (the goods ones, that is) to gain enough seats in both houses to block legislation, but leaving Democrats in nominal control. I do not want any political cover whatsoever for our Dear Leader. Remember that after the huge landslide of 1994, Clinton still won reelection–and BO is now making Clinton look like Churchill.

You trust them not to opt for the nuclear option? I sure don’t.
Seeing what we’ve seen over the last year and a half, it’s just too risky to leave them in control.
I’ll take my chances that history doesn’t quite repeat itself. Obama is no Clintonesque triangulator.
Take back congress, send repeal bills to his desk, make him veto them, have presidential candidates run on a repeal/will of the people agenda.

All the nay sayers and gloom and doom. This is going to be BIGGER than the 94 midterm elections. History on both sides of the isle. Democrats running for cover because of the historic Affirmative Action president is a total embarassment. Republicans going to pick up so many seat as to make your head explode. I am working at the precinct level in my state to help this all to come about.

There are a lot of unhappy House Dems and if the Republicans take The House we might see many of them switch to the Republican Party, especially those in Southern States. It happened in 94.
Pelosi was livid at Gibbs for saying the Dems would lose The House so now Obama and Biden are saying the Dems will win The House and Senate. I guess they think their great new election strategy of calling all white people (70% of this country) racist is going to turn the tide.

Since Christmas, I have been predicting that both houses would change hands. It’s starting. The situation is really beginning to unravel for the Congressional democrats. Pelosi, Reid and Obama told them that the people were really for all this spending and voters would reward them for supporting it. These clowns just realized they let go of the wrong end of the slingshot.
Obama is campaign trail poison. The republicans are out fund raising the democrats. In St Louis, he had to mark down the price of his fund raiser for Carnahan. He’s so over exposed. No one listens to the drivel he spouts. On every major issue he supports, the public is opposed by 2:1.
The democrat polls are over representing democrats by 5 points and counting adults or registered voters rather than likely voters. Even PPP is predicting that democrats can’t hold the house. The democrats and their media friends have been in denial about the Tea Party movement. My dogs can smell their panic.
Their base – blacks and young people – are disillusioned by the economic mess. The unemployment rate for young blacks is 4 times the national average. Those college kid Obama zombies can’t find a job.
People on Medicare are furious about Obama gutting the program. They will show up at the polls and vote against anyone who voted for Obamacare. Conservatives will be out in full force. Tea Party movement, too.
All the money in the world will not stop the momentum Obama has energized in his opposition. Ask Corzine.
All we need is the House. That stops the money and derails Obama’s agenda.

You think this MIGHT have something to do with the attacks on the Tea Party as racist or something?
Smears are the only way they HOPE they can cling (wrongfully) to power.. and if they were to win, they would then use that power to TAX, which is why they have not brought out a budget yet.. that is for after the election. If they win, they will sock it to the idiots who voted them back in and totally ruin the economy.

Changing Stance, Administration Now Defends Insurance Mandate as a Tax
By ROBERT PEAR
Published: July 16, 2010
WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”
