Dem Leader Rangel Charged With Multiple Ethics Violations

Democratic leader Charlie Rangel (D-NY) was charged with mutliple ethics violations by an investigative committee today.
The AP reported:
A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.
The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, who has served in the House for some 40 years and is fourth in House seniority. The announcement by a four-member panel of the House ethics committee sends the case to a House trial, where a separate eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.
The timing of the announcement ensures that it will stretch into the fall campaign, and Republicans are certain to make it an issue as they try to capture majority control of the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi had once promised to “drain the swamp” of ethical misdeeds by lawmakers in arguing that Democrats should be in charge.

Since Rangel has been one of the most unethical members of Congress for as long as he has been there, things must be really, REALLY bad for them to have actually brought him up on ethics violations. Must be something they figure they cannot sweep under the rug.

After what has happened over the last few years to America, I think she is the only person so far, that will represent the will of most Americans, without being controlled by special interests.
I believe that the conservative blogospherer is going to have to watch out for a HUGE LIE coming from Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I believe that Hillary and Bill Clinton are lying to the American people when they say that she will not run for President in 2012.
Progressives have such a huge lust for power, that I believe they will DO ANYTHING, and SAY ANYTHING, to hang on to power in 2012. I also believe that Barack Obama is so corrupt that he would even secretly support Hillary taking him on in 2012, if he thought that Progressives could hold on to power by her winning.
The Clintons are hoping that the America people are stupid enough to believe that Hillary is different than Barack Obama. They are hoping that there are still millions of Americans that believe in the “old-fashioned-dyed-in-the-wool-democrats-are-for-the-workin-man” view of the democrats.
The question remains: Is America still that stupid?
The good news is that I believe Sarah Palin will defeat Hillary Clinton by a good margin in 2012. Most Americans dont believe a word that comes out of the mouth of a Progressive anymore.
I think we are heading into a time of going back to true conservatism. I believe the November elections will prove out this trend.
So Sarah, don’t ever give up! You are our best hope for restoring honor to America.

An investigation, at taxpayer expense, is needed to gather all the dirt on Rangel before they lose the House and a real investigation is started. After they get all the dirt, they will dump it all neatly into the ocean (or maybe the Gulf) where nobody will find it again. Soon we’ll be hearing “see, there was nothing there…just racists trying to play politics. Trust us on this, even DOJ looked over everything and found nothing wrong.” I can hear it already.

This is a sad story about the decay in American morality. Charlie Rangel was a war hero who fought and was wounded in Korea. He went to college, Law School and entered politics. In 1971, he defeated corrupt Adam Clayton Powell in the democrat primary. Since that election, it seems Rangel slowly morphed into Powell. Personally, I like Charlie Rangel and I’m not happy about these problems.
Character should matter, but in some communities, it apparently doesn’t. Many of the constituents in Harlem, like many in the ninth ward in New Orleans, consider Congressional graft an asset rather than a liability. Dollar Bill Jefferson and Charlie Rangel are sticking it to the man. Until their voters cease viewing this reprehensible behavior as admirable, their elected officials will continue to be criminals.
