Those leftist media is once again talking about cracking down on free speech.
Via Breitbart TV:

Anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts discussed the “mixed blessing of the internet,” and agreed that there should be a crackdown on anonymous bloggers who disparage others on the internet.

  1. There should be a crackdown on news organizations that failed to tell the truth about Saddam Hussein because they were afraid he would throw their correspondents out of Iraq.

    CNN is a joke.

  2. Great point Kato, not too many people remember that.

  3. Thanks to Journolist, this is the state run media at its best. Silence opposing views.

  4. Disparaging remarks should remain in control of the major media and bank robbers should yield to the IRS.

  5. He ask, maybe a gate keeper might provide some honesty to the blogs. Really? The internet has put his and his leftest ilk jobs at risk because of the perception of the dishonesty that impregnates the Lame Stream Media. Now he wish’s to manage their content.. The media had one of the most important jobs in the defense of America, and failed miserably. The sooner these leftist hacks are gone the sooner America can get back on course as a Nation of the people. Rather than another failed attempt of utopia as promised by Socialist in their ivory, or Ivy League castles.

  6. Freedom of speech covers disparaging remarks.

  7. Never thought I would live to see the day that people would openly argue AGAINST FREEDOM.

This makes my head spin, they say in countries where there is oppression, it’s necessary to blog anonymously lest ye be thrown in jail. But here the solution is to perhaps crackdown and start throwing people in jail for blogging anonymously. No oppression here, right?

  8. CNN is advocating what the Iranian regime did, a ‘crackdown’ on bloggers who they think threaten the Zero regime.. will there next be women in the tea party movement shot down in the streets by the basiji thugs of SEIU, NBPP, ACORN as well?

  9. The pamphlet “Common Sense” was perhaps the most powerful weapon used against King George and the British government in the colonies: it convinced many Americans into supporting the cause of Independence and the creation of a government in which the people were the boss, not the king.

Oh, BTW, CNN: it was published anonymously.

  10. I could almost see their point if they had “gunned down” Dan Rather on the steps of the Capitol.

  11. Hey John Roberts,

Imagine where we would be today if a bunch of “journalists” hadn’t gotten together and conspired to get the most unqualified man in our history elected to the presidency of the US.

    Imagine that.

  12. Just like Chavez, and Castro. Aren’t they ugly little leftists? Karl Marx would be so proud. We’re going to crack down on your fraud, President. He is a Kenyan Despot. He won’t prove otherwise. Come on CNN, show us we’re disparaging him. Show us, it’s a lie. Come on..I dare you. Globe magazine came out with the story. How come Obama isn’t suing them, if it’s a lie? I know, because it isn’t. I hope if there is an attack, you are at ground zero. It only seems fitting that you become victims of the little communist monster, you created.

  13. Hey don’t lame me, blame Algore, he invented it.

  14. That’s right CNN, deny us a voice.
So the soap box is not an option.
The ballot box is increasingly rigged.
That leaves us only one more box. Gosh I wonder which box that could be.

Think hard, is that what you really want?

  15. I am a Journalist on the internet and have the same rights and priveleges as a Laim Stream Media hacks. We speak the truth and back it up with sound facts and links to prove so. The LSM is whining because your best days are behind you and you’ll probably become extinct in the next decade or so. We survive through contributions not cornering the market or clearing the field of competion (like Obama).
powder is dry, the LSM will wither on the vine.

  16. Maybe its time to shut down CNN! Seems they use “anonymous” sources all the time! No one watches them anyway except the sissy left, but thats one news channel that could easily go.

Thats what it will come to, CNN. Thats exactly what it will come to, we will just speed up your demise. Its not far off anyway.

  17. How about CNN concern itself with a crack down on socialist aparatchick flacks who pose as objective journalists while secretly conspiring to manipulate news coverage to the favor of their neo facsit party leaders they vow obediance ?

  18. Because nobody watch old MSM anymore.. They will create a re-education camp where everyone has to be forced to watch CNN 24/7.

  19. Browkaw stated in the recent past that the internet is an open sewer.

I don’t think the msm minds the sewer part of it, just the open part.

The leftists love their race card et al.

  20. Ah, more evidence of the utterly clownish nature of the SRM.

Roberts from the above video (bear with me folks):

“Imagine what would have happened if we hadn’t taken a look at what happened with Shirley Sherrod and plumbed the depths further and found out that what had been posted on the internet was not in fact reflective of what she said. Would she still be without a job, would her reputation still be ruined? That to some degree is the effect of what many people might consider to be a Wild West of the internet where anybody can post anything they want about anyone.”

If you ACTUALLY examine what he says here (perish the thought) it makes absolutely NO sense. I think this would better reflect what he meant to convey:

“….Would she be without a job, would her reputation be ruined….”

    or

“….Would she have been offered another job, would her reputation have been repaired….”

Fixed it for you John, carry on with the task of destroying this country.

  21. I found this at SondraK.com (thank you SISU):

    SHIRLEY SHERROD, FORMER USDA OFFICIAL:

They want you to pull over to the side of the road and do it because you’re going to be on Glenn Beck tonight.

The regeime/administration scared of a dork with a four blackboards; now that’s the function of journalism.
    [as opposed to JournoLism]

  22. Ah yes, the “wild west” of free speech. What country does CNN think it is living in?

  23. This is proof of how dumbed-down this nation is.
These two very ignorant CNN news readers can’t even imagine what could eventually happen to them if such a precedence was sought.

This past week has illustrated such stupidity in the press I am agog-these folks can’t follow a time-line, they are unable to make use of simple logic, they lack insight and make themselves appear incompetent.

What the heck has happened to this country ?

  24. I sure hope it’s just these two who think our Shirl is Miss Innocent. Play a little more of that tape, and you get some pretty rough stuff.

Or was it her opinion of Breitbart on none other than CNN? Both, probably, and it was ugly.

They’re on to their next grab: control of our speech. Nice set-up, Lefties. You’ve got to hand it to them, though — especially if they get away with this too.

Do these two idiots know how they’re being used? Do they really believe the words on the script they’ve been given?

Some people will do anything for a buck.

  25. Let’s have a crackdown on all media outlets that wantonly slander people as “racist” just because it’s easier than dealing with the substance of their arguments, or defending the sick joke of a government that we have now.

  26. They would love to get rid of us bloggers. Then maybe CNN would get their viewership back.

  27. How noble that these two can heroically ride to the aid of Shirley Sherrod. Funny it didn’t seem like such a crime in the Fall of 08 when CNN and others in the MSM were echoing the libel of blogs about Sarah Palin

  28. It is important to note that the discussion above concerns anonymous bloggers. Many bloggers attach their names/photos on their blogs. The case with the video of Shirley Sherrod was published on a known blogger’s website. Although the video was edited to malign her character and life I blame the networks who followed this blogger and published the lies. It should not have made the news. I agree with the discussion to some extent with this case bloggers should have limits but certainly not to restrain freedom of speech. Bloggers have been a responsibility and I hope those who blog will show some maturity and blog responsibly.

  29. Bloggers have a responsibility and I hope those who blog will show some maturity and blog responsibly.

  30. Presidents too have a responsibility and I hope ours will show some maturity and preside responsibly. ;)

  31. I don’t remember the MSM crying these crocodile tears when Sarah Palin was accused of covering up her daughters birth. It was covered by CNN by saying “it has been reported….” There was NO sainthood for Sarah but only for this Sherrod? No bias here.
