the US economy lost 125,000 jobs in June. Obama’s response?
“We’re heading in the right direction.”

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. shed 2.3 million jobs since February 2009, Obama’s first full month in office. Since Obama’s election in 2008, the US economy has shed 4.4 million jobs. That’s worse than Herbert Hoover.

My fear is that the economy is going to recover by 2012 and the release of pent up demand will make it boom in 2012. Thus Bambi gets re-elected.
For instance, currently there is 600K total housing units under construction in the U.S.. Long term demand via population growth dictates 1.4 -1.5 million new housing units a year.
2.9 jobs are created for each unit constructed. In 2005/06 2.3M housing units were built (over supply) which resulted in 6.670M jobs vs now under 600K units equals 1.740 M jobs. 4.930M jobs of the 8.0M jobs lost were as a result of housing.
Under normal employment conditions all of the oversupply built in the early 2000′s would have been absorbed, but due to high unemployment especially for young Americans there has been considerable household consolidation. Ie kids moving back home with mom or dad.
My point is this. The U.S. still has positive demographics, unlike Germany, Japan, U.K., Spain, et al, thus by the election of 2012 there will be atleast 4M jobs created and 3M in housing.
The republican party must get out in front (meaning Paul Ryan) and talk about how to job creation from housing, so bambi can’t take credit for childern born 18 years ago. (unless of course kids live with their parents until 40 like in Italy)
My figures include apartments, condos and single family detached housing units.
The longer the economy stays bad now, the more pent-up demand to be released in 2012 and the trolls will think it is because of Obama.
