It was all hot air and hoax.

A top official with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change admitted yesterday that there never was agreement on global warming and that only a few dozen scientists actually believed it.
The National Post reported:
The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.
“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”
Hulme, Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia – the university of Climategate fame — is the founding Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and one of the UK’s most prominent climate scientists. Among his many roles in the climate change establishment, Hulme was the IPCC’s co-ordinating Lead Author for its chapter on ‘Climate scenario development’ for its Third Assessment Report and a contributing author of several other chapters.
Hulme’s depiction of IPCC’s exaggeration of the number of scientists who backed its claim about man-made climate change can be found on pages 10 and 11 of his paper, found here.
And to think, it was just two years ago junk scientist Al Gore promised that the arctic ice cap would be melted entirely in 5 years.
And, they gave him a Peace Prize for that.
Related… Those Pacific Islands aren’t sinking either.

And let’s remember that only 20% of the IPCC members have a connection with weather and climate. 80% come from areas that are absolutely not connected.
Plus, the few dozen “experts” who believe in it forged a lot of data. Take the hockey stick. Total fraud. And then the data of the hockey stick suddenly disappears. And I wonder: for such an important thing, why was there no backup? How can one lose the most important data that “supports” the global warming hype?
Those “experts” have learned from their masters quite well. Their masters are the bloody politicians who want to bleed us dry with taxes and who want to take away all our rights, because they know what’s good for us.
Time to bring out the tar and feathers.

I just got this email….so you know the bum is planning more crap in his address tomorrow:
I am copying the email as it was sent to me just now.
“The BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast is the worst environmental disaster of its kind in our nation’s history. I am returning to the region today to review our efforts and meet with families and business owners affected by the catastrophe.
We are working to hold BP accountable for the damage to the lands and the livelihoods of the Gulf Coast, and we are taking strong precautions to make certain a spill like this never happens again.
But our work will not end with this crisis. That’s one of the reasons why last week I invited lawmakers from both parties to join me at the White House to discuss what it will take to move forward on legislation to promote a new economy powered by green jobs, combat climate change, and end our dependence on foreign oil.
Today, we consume more than 20 percent of the world’s oil, but have less than two percent of the world’s oil reserves. Beyond the risks inherent in drilling four miles beneath the surface of the Earth, our dependence on oil means that we will continue to send billions of dollars of our hard-earned wealth to other countries every month — including many in dangerous and unstable regions.
In other words, our continued dependence on fossil fuels will jeopardize our national security. It will smother our planet. And it will continue to put our economy and our environment at risk. We cannot delay any longer, and that is why I am asking for your help.
Please stand with me today in backing clean energy. Adding your name will help Organizing for America create a powerful, public display of support for making this change happen.
The time has come, once and for all, for this nation to fully embrace a new future. That means continuing our unprecedented effort to make everything — from our homes and businesses to our cars and trucks — more energy-efficient. It means rolling back billions of dollars of tax breaks to oil companies so we can prioritize investments in clean energy research and development.
Many businesses support this agenda because shifting to clean energy creates opportunities for entrepreneurship. This is how we will reinvent our economy — and create new companies and new jobs all across the country.
There will be transition costs and a time of adjustment. But if we refuse to heed the warnings from the disaster in the Gulf — we will have missed our best chance to seize the clean-energy future we know America needs to thrive in the years and decades to come.
The House of Representatives has already passed a comprehensive energy and climate bill, and there is currently a plan in the Senate — a plan that was developed with ideas from Democrats and Republicans — that would achieve the same goal. But this is an issue that Washington has long ignored in favor of protecting the status quo.
So I’m asking for your help today to show that the American people are ready for a clean-energy future.
Please add your name to mine:

We still have raving moonbats all across the blogs and newspaper blogs ranting how the science ‘proves’ AGW beyond a doubt.
I have read too many papers on this subject that minimally throw doubt upon it in heaps. The measurements don’t support it. The physics doesn’t support it. The history doesn’t support it. The imputed amount is smaller than the error bars. Etc., etc,. etc.
And yet… on and on it goes. You can fix ignorance. Just get more info. Apparently stupid goes all the way to the bone, though.

It is not about global warming or climate change, just like environmentalism was never about DDT or any other chemical. It doesn’t matter if AGW is true or false, it only has to fool many of the people some of the time. It is about the destruction of capitalism, and it’s replacement with chrony-capitalism – till that is replaced byt something more radical, until we have our own Gulag for those who just won’t damnwell obey. If it wasn’t for CW, it would have been something else. After the fall of communism, the left had to go somewhere, and this is where many of them landed.

man…you guys are in denial. i too WISH global warming were nothing to worry about. the fact is we can’t get to figuring out what to do and/or how bad it will be because people DON’T WANT to give up their fancy oil-dependent lifestyle.
about this supposed “fraud” mike hulme has “exposed”…. have you read what he said? – not just the little blurb cherry-picked above? context is important. the part around now-famous “skeptic” meme “Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists…” reads:
Without a careful explanation about what it means, this drive for consensus can leave the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism. Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous. That particular consensus judgement, as are many others in the IPCC reports, is reached by only a few dozen experts in the specific field of detection and attribution studies; other IPCC authors are experts in other fields.”
see that? nothing conspiratorial. nothing to hide. he was trying to make a nuanced point (i know that’s difficult…) which was seized upon by those who just WISH climate change would go away…
i offer this analogy: if they were reporting on the health of a patient, it’s like the heart experts arrived at a consensus about the heart, the liver experts arrived at a consensus about the liver, the brain experts reached a consensus about the brain etc… now, in this scenario, it would be disingenuous to say ALL the doctors reached a consensus about the patient’s heart, right?
that’s the same thing. mike hulme IS NOT saying there’s no consensus, he’s just explaining how each consensus judgment in IPCC reports are made by a few dozen scientists who are experts in that particular field.
thanks. now that i’ve clarified that for you, be sure to tell all your friends about what mike hulme was really saying, not what his words were cherry-picked to appear to say.
sadly, there is still a consensus that humans are causing global warming… sorry.

“I did not say the ‘IPCC misleads’ anyone – it is claims that are made by other commentators, such as the caricatured claim I offer in the paper, that have the potential to mislead.”

I just got back from Wyoming. The temps were in the 40s all weekend. (June 10-14) There was six inches of snow on South Pass, at noon monday. The high country of the Wind River Range got FIVE FEET of snow in total over the weekend. Moderate to severe flooding along most of the rivers originating in the Wind Rivers. Snow level about 6000 ft. Freezing temps at night. Forecast is for one or two days in the 60s, then back to the forties for another few days.
Trust me when I say that none of the ranchers I know are worried about global warming. If you hate global warming, man are you going to hate global cooling. LOL
walter commented:
stuart,
boy! brrrrrrrr…. that sounds cold. but surely you’re smart enough to know that just because it’s cold where YOU happen to be doesn’t mean it’s cold EVERYWHERE, right?
even with that wyoming snow you experienced, 2010, GLOBALLY, is shaping up to be the warmest year on record:
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/
Stuart commented:
Why do I have my doubts about any data representations (graphs, temp maps, etc.) with the name Dr. James Hansen attached to them?
I admit my observations about Wyoming are anecdotal, but these kinds of anecdotes keep popping up more and more frequently in increasing numbers. There was serious snow in Houston and Dallas last winter, a prolonged freeze in Florida, Europe experienced a seriously cold winter, as did Mongolia, where the intense cold nearly wiped out the domestic animal population.
Also consider, The PDO is in a cold phase.
Sunspot activity is undergoing a prolonged minimum, and volcanic activity is ramping up in Iceland and elsewhere.
The smart money isn’t riding on global warming any longer.
walter commented:
stuart,
those aren’t james hansen’s numbers, they’re just numbers….sheesh
will you trust “climaterealists” take on it?

you said,
“Also consider, The PDO is in a cold phase.
Sunspot activity is undergoing a prolonged minimum, and volcanic activity is ramping up in Iceland and elsewhere.”
right….that supports MY point. those are all indicators that should point to LOWER temps, but here we are in the midst of a record warm year. also, the 2000-2009 decade was the warmest on record.
