Thug Rep. Phil Hare Threatens Veteran With DMV Check For Questioning His Record

Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL) doesn’t care much about the US Constitution but he’s a big fan of the DMV.
After an embarrassing confrontation at a public meeting last week Rep. Phil Hare threatened to follow a constituent and Vietnam veteran to his car and get his license plate number so he could find out who he was.
Bob McCarty at Big Government reported:
On Monday, May 31, 2001, Mr. Hare and I were engaged in a conversation concerning the statements he is making around the district about being a veteran. After I pointed out that according to the law he is not a veteran, he became very upset and demanded to know my name. I refused to tell him my name, saying that this was about his claim of being a veteran and not about me.
Mr. Hare then told one of his aids who was with him, to follow me to my car and get my license plate number so he could find out who I was. I have since been told that Mr. Hare’s daughter works for the DMV.
I then asked Mr. Hare if he was going to stop telling people that he was a veteran. Mr. Hare again demanded to know my name, and again told his aide to get my name or to follow me to get my license plate number so he could find out who I was, so he could tell all the former reservist what I said.
I asked Mr. Hare if he as a public official was going to use his official office to run name checks on private citizens, in order to intimidate them into not asking questions he did not want to answer.
As Mr. Hare was turning to walk away form me he paused, and turning back to my direction, he glared at me intently, and while leaning forward pointed his finger at me, and in a threatening and intimidating manner said, “I’ll find out who you are!” Given the nature of Illinois politics and Mr. Hare’s reputation as a mean politician, I felt intimidated by the power of Mr. Hare’s office and what he might do.

Using DMV records in this mannor is a felony. Cops can no longer do this. Yet again another restricted carry state. Do you see a pattern. Where the politician restricts YOUR rights it enboldens them to get very thuggish. This is why states have revised the carry laws to include “feeling threatened”. From his web site:
‘He also served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.’
Is serving in the U.S. Army Reserves considered different from the regular military?
Does that mean he cannot say he is a ‘veteran’?
If so, Hare should just recognize the distinction and let it go. This is threatening behavior.

Mr. Hare never answered the question I posed to him. I reminded Mr. Hare that even his former commanding officer in the reserves, (Bill Albracht) told him that he was not a veteran according to law. Mr. Hare said, “Bill Albracht, now there’s a real brain.”
As I was walking away I spotted Mr. Albracht and walked over to him. It should be noted that Mr. Albracht is a former Green Beret Captain who served as the commander of an A-Team in Vietnam, and is one of the most decorated soldiers in Illinois. Mr. Albracht is also a retired Secret Service Agent with twenty-five years of service.
When Mr. Hare saw us talking to each other he rushed over and demanded that Mr. Albracht explain to me, that he, (MR. Hare) was a veteran. Mr. Albracht told Mr. Hare that he was not a veteran according to the law, but that yes, he had served in the reserves. However, according to governmental regulations he was not qualified to be counted as a veteran.
At hearing the bad news from Mr. Albracht, Mr. Hare became enraged and went into a tirade about how the law was bad and it should be changed. Mr. Hare wanted to know if Mr. Albracht would support such a change in the law. Mr. Albracht said “no.” Mr. Hare, now even more enraged said, “I don’t care what the law is, I still consider myself a veteran.” After this, with the wave of his hand, Mr. Hare dismissed us both as if we were mere servants and not worth his time.
“I don’t care what the law is, I still consider myself a veteran.”
This is the same guy who doesn’t care what the Constitution says, he has threatened to use his position and political/personal contacts for intimidation of a constituent, and he is an out-of-control Congressional Representative.
This man needs to be removed from office.

I find the congressman disgusting and a thug. but the federal government is not the moral authority on what a veteran is it is just the legalistic authority on what a vet is. I served for many years on active duty in the army (not in war) then when my enlistment was up I spent many years in the reserves and I would have felt ashamed to tell the men around me in the reserves that they were not vets. I think it is actually kind of repulsive. that said it is a completely different animal to represent yourself as a veteran of war when your not, which somescumbags have done.
A ‘Veteran’ — whether active duty, honorably discharged, retired, or reserve — is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America,’ for an amount of ‘up to, and including his life.’
A VETERAN is some one who had the courage to Serve in that countries militay during peace time or war in any form reserve, guard, active. This does not matter nor does the branch.
in todays military signing on the line even for reserve or guard could put you in a combat zone and cost you life or limb.
here is the governments rules:
Definition of a “veteran”
Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 32, §1, and c. 4, §7, cl.43, you qualify as a veteran if you meet ONE of the following three requirements:
1) You have at least 180 days of regular active duty service and you were honorably discharged or released.
2) You have at least 90 days of active duty service, at least one day of which was during wartime per the chart below, and you were honorably discharged or released.
so, if a reservist gets called up on active duty for at least 180 days he is by definition a vet.

FEDERAL DEFINITION: under Federal Law a VETERAN is any person, who served honorably on active duty in the armed forces of the United States. (Discharges marked GENERAL AND UNDER HONORABLE CONDITIONS also qualify.)

Unless he served Active duty time during his time in the reserves then He is not considered a veteran according to Federal Law. Of course he has indicated more than once that Federal LAW do not mean much to him.
I am a soldier currently in Iraq and work with many reservist. They are serving Active duty Time Just like me and derserve to be called VETERANS.
Some one who never deployed, And never served on Active duty time other than Basic Training does NOT Deserve to be counted in the Same category as these soldiers.
How many career Polititions have served in the reserves and National Gaurd just to get that little boost??

I had always wondered where Sgt. Schultz went when Stalag 13 went out of business.
He went back to the company he owned. Schultz is the owner of Germany’s biggest and most successful toy manufacturing company.
Yeah, I saw all episodes like 20 times.
Btw, Schultz was played by an Austrian Jew, John Banner, who, when he was in Switzerland, found he could not return to Austria because he was a Jew.
Werner Klemperer, who played Klink, was also a Jew. Both managed to get out of the 3rd Reich before things got too hot to handle.

Here in Connecticut we have an Attorney General, who is running for U.S. Senate claim he was a Marine Veteran serving in Vietnam. Problem is, he never left State side. I am a political junkie with a deep concern for the 2nd amendment. When the policy wonks start dancing around that one get nervous. Chicago gun case is going to come out this June (Mcdonald vs. Chicago). It looks very good for the citizens to get their rights back and very bad for Chicago thug politicians.
(Heller vs.D.C.) We the People, are citizens with rights that come from GOD. NOT from the Federal or state’s. We gave up some of those rights so the Fed and State can function. Yes, Debbie, your daughter is a veteran if she is/was serving in Iraq. I have 2 nephews, both served in the National Guard since 9/11 and the one is still in. The one still serving did a tour in Iraq and has a deploy date for A-stan. The other’s unit was never called up before he got out. I don’t really agree with the law as both committed to defending this country and had no choice in whether they were called to go or not. It’s no different than being in the military and getting stationed stateside like my father was during WWII, rather than overseas like my uncles. But one has to work to change the law they don’t agree with, not just claim a status that isn’t theirs to legally claim. And yes, I do have some understanding of the military. I never served myself, but spent 20 years as a military wife.

I am really tired of all politicians who state that they are veterans when they have never deployed. I have three combat tours under my belt all with the National Guard. All of the Democrats have already shown contempt to the Constitution when they voted for this Obamacare bill without first knowing what was in the bill.
