This would not be necessary if we were to match Social Security numbers to names and locations. Most invalid matches could be caught very easily, and the employment hire would be denied.
Coupled with penalties to all parties involved in illegal hiring, including employers, much of the problem could easily be resolved.
“Comprehensive immigration reform” is not required to alleviate the problem of illegal immigration.

If they (undocumented workers) have a ‘right to fair wages’ without paying Federal income tax and contribution to Social Security and Medicare……..then I (documented worker) as a American citizens have that same right to not pay Federal income tax, or contribute to Social Security/Medicare.
This Liberal Mindset just spits in the face of citizens that abide by the rule of law.

Heck, what’s a few dollars in the greater scheme of equality of financial outcome, anyway?

The differences between those that honor and respect our borders, laws and culture and those that spit on our sovereignty and way of life are so great that I really can’t see a peaceful resolution. I pray for one but I just don’t see it. Fair wages? How about get the hell out of my country. I’m for this not for the illegals and “fairness” but because if employers had to pay minimum wage, illegal immigration would drop significantly. Cracking down on employers has to be part of any immigration reform, and this might be just what is needed to force employers to stop hiring illegals for less than they can hire an American.

If you make them actually justify their positions they fold like a house of cards, why aren’t we doing that? The hardest question for a politician to answer is “but why / how?”

I’m with Fuzzy. Illegal immigrations don’t have a *right* to work here, period, fair wage or otherwise. But an enforcement of full labor laws, including minimum wage laws and tax reporting laws, would definitely curtail illegal immigration significantly.

Horse Hockey! Illegal aliens do not have a legal right to work at ALL in the United States. You don’t get any wages at all for NOT working. Legal immigrants with valid green cards have a right to the same fair wage as all others legally in the US. Illegals are entitled only to a ride out on the next available transport.

Well, there you go. If you know of a competitor who is not paying illegals a fair wage, you should notify your local, state and federal labor departments for action. They won’t deport the unauthorized workers but the competitor will have cough up the cash and will have been documented as unlawfully employing unauthorized workers. An offense that may be investigated (according to US immigration laws) by anyone with law enforcement authority. Any state can take what ever regulatory action against employers who hire unauthorized persons. Perhaps even taking away their business license depending on a case now before the SCOTUS.

My idea is to have the stores collect 28% on the fee for money orders leaving the country. They get it back when the send in the tax return. But that won’t work as the banks met in Minnesota one summer and arrnged to allow ATM transfers of x amount every day!

Excuse me, but how are illegals even working? I am an employer. I have to inspect a new employee’s documentation and send a record to the GOVERNMENT for them to check to make sure that I was given ID that wasn’t fake. We have sign something that to the best of our knowledge this employee is a legal employee.
