IDLED OIL RIGS ARE MOVING TO BRAZIL Following Obama's Drilling Moratorium

Barack Obama’s oil drilling moratorium will cost tens of thousands of American jobs.
But, not everyone will suffer.
Oil companies are planning on moving their rigs from the Gulf of Mexico to South America off the coast of Brazil where the government is more friendly to energy corporations.
Reuters reported, via Free Republic:
Brazil could benefit from the BP Gulf of Mexico spill as a U.S. moratorium on offshore drilling boosts available rigs for the country’s deep water oil exploration program.
Even as an ecological catastrophe makes the future of U.S. offshore drilling less certain, Brazil is plowing ahead with a $220 billion five-year plan to tap oil fields even deeper than BP’s (BP.L) ill-fated Gulf well, which is still leaking crude.
With an estimated 35 rigs idled in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil is already receiving inquiries from companies looking to move their rigs here, where vast discoveries in recent years may soon turn the country into a major crude exporter.
“What is bad for some may be good for others,” said Fernando Martins, Latin America Vice President for GE Oil and Gas, which provides services to drillers in Brazil.
“Since operators are shutting down at least temporarily in the U.S. Gulf, some companies are planning to move their rigs to Brazil now,” he said, without offering details.
By the way… The Obama Administration fudged their report to push for the oil drilling ban.
Barack Obama urged the Democratic Congress to pass his new tax on oil companies yesterday.
UPDATE: At least Barack Obama’s buddy George Soros will make some money off the deal.

What makes this interesting is the fact that Obama gave/lent Brazil several billion dollars last year to finance offshore oil exploration and drilling for Brazil’s state owned oil company Petrobras. If fruitful, the Tupi oil could make Brazil one of the world’s leading oil producers.

This whole affair was a massive regulatory failure, from MMS approving the single casing well design in deepwater, deep drilling, to the total cluster-you-know-what the MMS caused before the fire-explosion.
And then when the casing failed, all the wrong choices by MMS and BP caused the ensuing disaster.
And now the idled rigs move to Brazil … how quaint.

Forgive me as I am on vacation and don’t have the time to look, but wasn’t there a report months back that George Soros was investing heavily in the Brazilian state run, or quasi state run, oil company? I understand that without a cite this is nothing but idle conjecture. Just seem to recall something like that though.

But this is just another example of the ignorance of commodities by the so called elite. Just like when Chavez threatens to stop selling oil to the US. Boo hoo, once it’s in the tanker or pipeline, it’s on the world market and flows like, well, oil.
I like the proposed oil tax. Obama wants to tap natural gas but cut back on fossil fuels. If only stupidity wasn’t such a dangerous source of energy.

we need to get the GOP controlled congress to remove bans and allow us oil companies to drill closer to shore and in shallower water where an accident is easy to fix.

I wonder if one of the investors was named Barack Obama or maybe Michelle Obama or even Valerie Jarrett? Would this be high crimes and misdemeaners at last? It wouldn’t matter. This congress of anarchists would not impeach him if he killed the 25 million of us he said would have to die in order to implement his goals.
Some people make fun of those of us who want to see this POS’ birth certificate but think about it. If he is ineligible to be president, everything he has done and signed is null and void. I think this is probably the only way to save this country. Others say this is a non issue and we need to fight in other ways. Please tell me how do we fight in other ways?
