McCHRYSTAL FIRED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH–
Obama fired General McChrystal for telling the truth and questioning his leadership in the War in Afghanistan. Barack Obama waited months to send in the requested troops.
VP Joe-Bite-Me stood next to the president during his announcement today.
The military and our country lost a true patriot today.
FOX News reported:
Gen. Stanley McChrystal is no longer the top U.S. commander and strategist for Afghanistan, reportedly being told Wednesday by President Obama that he is out of a job following a scathing article in which McChrystal and his aides were quoted criticizing the commander-in-chief over his leadership in the Afghan war.
McChrystal got his marching orders as he held a face-to-face meeting at the White House, where he met with the president after a meeting with Defense Secretary Robert Gates at the Pentagon.
The Wednesday meeting preceded a regular session of the administration’s strategy team for Afghanistan, held in the White House Situation Room. Normally, McChrystal would have joined via teleconference but he was summoned to Washington as he faced a private flogging over the article that appeared in Rolling Stone.
If not insubordination, the remarks in the Rolling Stone magazine article were at least an indirect challenge to civilian management of the war in Washington by its top military commander.
Military leaders rarely challenge their commander in chief publicly, and when they do, consequences tend to be more severe than a scolding.
Of course, just a few years ago the media promoted military criticism of President Bush. But, now it’s unacceptable.

This is all Obama’s fault. His false-leadership style attempts to communicate through the media instead of directly with people. Remember a short time ago the facts emerged that Obama had only spoken to McChrystal once? That was embarrassing to Obama so he staged a “meeting.” The pattern here holds. He didn’t talk to the BP CEO either. Nor did he talk to the Gov of Arizona over the immigration lawsuit…instead H Clinton talks about it on the news in S. America. Again, the pattern is–I don’t want to talk to people. I’ll communicate through my MSM machine and spin news. This was one incident that came back to bite him and he doesn’t like it. Since Rolling Stone is a leftleaning rag, McChrystal can’t have planned to be critical of Obama. However, as the interview progressed, all the things that have been nagging him for a long time just had to come out – and out they came! There is probably a lot more and hopefully we will hear more very soon.
So, McChrystal who voted for and was selected by Obama, became much wiser and told the world the truth. And again the Afghan war is run by people chosen by Bush: Gates and Petraeus.

McChrystal was not fired for “telling the truth.” McChrystal was – rightly – relieved of command for a blatant and unmistakable act of insubordination that directly violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice (as quoted by Mil-tech Bard):

Were his statements as egregious as those of his staff? Certainly not. But, should he not be held accountable for those statements?

Personally, I believe that McChrystal knew full-well the consequences that would result from his actions; thus, I conclude that he had a reason for taking actions that he knew would result in his relief of command.
As I said before: once McChrystal is out of uniform, I welcome all the statements of truth (and contempt toward the Obama administration) he wishes to express. I’m sure I’ll agree with most/all of them. But as long as he is in uniform, I don’t want to hear them.

While I hate to concur with Obama, I believe he made the right call on this one. McCrystal was out of line. He should never have publically exposed any conflict between himself and his superiors.
McCrystal could and should have made his objections directly to his superiors in private. If he didn’t obtain satisfaction, he could have resigned. No one would have criticized him if he had done so under such circumstances.

Whoa! I never said that McChrystal is a traitor, nor did ayone else here who possesses a brain. (That excludes Joe.) Like it or not, that treasonous b@st@rd who currently squats in the White House is the CIC of the US military. Officers are not to talk smack about their superiors to the media (or, from what I’ve heard the last couple of days, even to other officers or their underlings). Officers are also responsible for keeping their aides in line. Having only the news we’ve all read to go by, McChrystal broke both of these rules with the Rolling Stoners mag interview.

It is the job of the media to criticize any president’s politics or policies. The president doesn’t control the media.

There is no question that the comments by General McChrystal and some members of his staff to a reporter who was bound to make them public was at best poor judgment and at worst disrespectful. They were not, as reported by the lamestream media, acts of insubordination or violations of the chain of command. Just a week or two ago, SecDef Gates stated that the administration had no plan or strategy to deal with a nuclear Iran. Was that insubordination, disrespect or a violation of the chain of command? The comments made by McChrystal and his staff were a symptom of a bigger problem. Obama has assembled a dysfunctional Afghan War strategy team with which McChrystal became so frustrated that he could not contain his criticism any more. Added to that frustration is the clear realization that this war will not be won by Obama’s arbitrary cut and run date of June 2011. Why in the world Gen. Yes, I most certainly did refer to President Obama as McCrystal’s superior. In the military there is a chain of command. President Obama is at the top, as Commander-in-Chief, like it or not. When any military officer contradicts the President in a public forum, that officer is inappropriately speaking out of turn and should be either disciplined or relieved of duty.
Someone else said something to the effect of “the military should activate snipers”. First, Jim, I call upon you to immediately delete posts like this as they are not comments made by civilized people who exhibit respect for the laws of this nation. I can understand that people are angry, however, that kind of dialog has no place in a forum like this. It only serves to diminish this entire forum – and since I consider this to be one of the higher level forums for conservative comments on the net, I’d hate to see it marginalized by people who feel like just because they have a load of anger that they can dump it in anyone’s backyard. One thing i don’t understand. I keep hearing people talk about Obama being a Kenyan Manchurian Candidate hellbent on destroying America. For those who truly believe this, you must also believe that 9/11 was an inside job, and that the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are designed to deplete our resources and destroy our economy. And if you believe that, then you believe that the Republicans had just as much a hand in the destruction of America as any Democrat.
