He may have been a good general. He may have also been a loon.
Via Instapundit:
AND YET, NOW HE’S UNDER THE BUS: McChrystal The Liberal. “The story about him voting for Obama is not contrived. He is a political liberal. He is a social liberal. He banned Fox News from the television sets in his headquarters. Yes, really. This puts to rest another false rumor: that McChrystal deliberately precipitated his firing because he wants to run for President.”
How is it that you could be a great general and a fan of the military-bashing liberal media at the same time? Someone, please explain this to me.

When I heard he voted for Obama I didn’t really care what happened to him..plus who would be dumb enough to let Rolling Stone run around for 3 weeks? A liberal.
gary gulrud commented:
T’would appear the only victory in this for Obama is to put McMullen, et al., officers of his liking, on notice.
‘I can be an SOB, yeah!’
My initial instinct to believe McChrystal a hero seems just a wee bit off target. Yon described him early on with COIN as “in over his head”.
The idea that he’s sidelined a serious 2012 contender is just fantasy. No way the Donks go to the bottom with the cardboard despot.

Obama picked him because he’s liberal. He flopped. Liberals always do.

This is what it means in the Bible, when it says, you reap, what you sow. He became a victim of his own philosophy, didn’t he. The same will happen with the rest eventually. My hope if there is an attack in NYC, or Washington DC. That the old news media, is ground zero. It would only be fitting that they pay the price for the monster they created.

A lot of these JSOC/CIA types are big libs. His hanging out to dry of our good soldiers in the Abu Ghraib and Tillman incidents is telling enough. And to have the lib-rag Rolling Stone hang with him for weeks is iceing on the cake.
Where have all of our good leaders gone? These idiots cut their teeth during the post-Vietnam days when we fought wars the same passive way Obie wants now. These generals only know how to be pussies. Give me a Patton and this whole war would be over in a year.
cargosquid commented:
Now we know why he thought that having Rolling Stone report on him would be “safe”.

Yeah, but liberals change. I did.

1.Pat Tillman coverup-lack of judgement!
2.Voting for an anti-military candidate-definitely a lack of judgement!
3.Publicizing his thoughts on the troop surge-not so much a lack of judgement in my opinion although he knew it was a no-no.
4.PC ROE’s that put the troops at risk-lack of judgement!
5.Allowing Rolling Stone to embed with the command-lack of judgement!
Looks like he suffers from a serious lack of judgement.

Of course he was a mindless Democrat, why else did Obama chose him in the first place?
And it just reveals how bad the Obama Presidency is, when their own dedicated Partisan General reveals how incompetent and image obsessed the disastrous Democrats truly are indeed.
Obama is a Carter – Clinton sequel of malfeasance and incompetence.
We are all suffering for it.
Joanne commented:
Maybe McChrystal wants to run for the Democrat party…..maybe he is a narcissist who sees Obama as his inferior….how about that!
deathstar commented:
McChrystal is a bumbling dolt, in the tradition of liberal idiots like Gen. “we need 600,000 troops in Iraq” Shinseki, and Gen. Wesley “I look hot on the cover of this gay magazine” Clarke. No wonder the it takes the military so long to get to the correct strategy in so many situations, with the lack of intellectual firepower in so many generals.

Because the liberal mindset and unreason are not mutually exclusive. In fact, unreason is prerequisite.

Maybe it’s a good thing that he’s gone.
I’m beginning to think that being a liberal is a mental dysfunction. Too bad, but not surprised because I remember a general when I was in the military that was nuts.
Suzy commented:
Most seem to think McCrystal is/was a ‘great general’ I never saw it. He was making soldiers read miranda rights to the enemy, banned Fox, forced soldiers to pretend to fight with both arms tied, shoelaces tied together, and forbidden to use real bullets. My idea of McCrystal has always been negative. Compared to real generals, McCrystal comes off as a community organizer. I hope he loses his pension.
Toaster802 commented:

The only way they would put a Marine general in command is if the political creatures WANTED TO WIN…until then the will let the Army pukes be in charge.

If McChrystal is a liberal Democratic and if he does run for President, he won’t get my vote. I am Republican conservative. McChrystal seemed to be a nice, fine man. It seemed like to me the whole Obama Administation, The White House, and the Democratic Congress are in such a big mess. All they wanted to do is whiny and complaining. What a waste of time? I have been hearing them complaining and whiny about the Bush Administration for 8 years through the medias. I know it is not Bush’s fault. Bush was doing a good job. Now, the Democartic Party needed to forget Bush. He is not in office anymore. The Democratic Party should have been happy about it. They are still not getting the job done. When November get here, Republican will win both US House and US Senate. We are sending these Democratic Congress back home for good. We need to have our country back.

And he banned Fox News from his headquarters? It is interesting.

Greetings:
My reply to your closing question would reference the Congressional approval process for flag officers. While, obviously, there has to be some nexus between our military and our civilian rulers, the approval process, in essence, turns our military officers into candidates running for office with all the opportunities for personal corruption that entails.

It’s not that surprising he’s a liberal.

Apparently, McChrystal voting for Obama, supporting him politically, banning Fox News from his command center, and even fellating Barak in the Oval Office, in the end, simply wasn’t enough to prove his love and devotion to his Messiah such that he could retain his job.

0311.
Bobbi commented:
Well, how about this theory. Mac was a liberal, and he turned on Obama because “O” turned out to be a bumbling idiot. So, Mac hears that his former Messiah is being challenged as being a Usurper by tons of Army officers. So, then Mac hears that none of these officers can get any Court to take the case because the plaintiffs do not have “standing”, i.e., they have not been damaged.
So, he sets out to be damaged and calls in the raunchiest magazine, and tells them what he “now” thinks of Barry. This is could be a trap, because, if Barry fires him, then every “birther” lawyer in the country can now represent Mac (if he wants) and the Supreme Court will have to take the case.
Bill commented:
But the headline below the headline is not that the General’s a liberal. The headline is that liberals, even those in the military, are deserting President Obama. Bill Sammon wrote that during the 2000 election recount, Team Bush actually preserved the votes of Gore supporters in the military when Team Gore was doing everything to get military ballots thrown out. I wonder how the numbers will shake out how many in the military voted for Gore in 2000 to how many will vote to re-elect Obama in 2012. If I were a betting man, I’d say it’ll be a huge drop.
Joanne commented:

Being I have been out since Panama, things have changed. Back then we used to bust the others services balls in good fun. Except the squids, who we really did want to insult. I see the up tight PC bullsh*t has has infected my beloved Corps. We are all equal on the playground now? Don’t make a funny because you might hurt someone’s delicate feelings? Meh. It was a crack at officers, Army ones especially. Lighten up Devil Dog, if you read the comment it was not aimed at the rifles doing the work, but at the chief REMF (fobbit).

McMac has managed to slyly wiggle himself out of terrible jam – a war he was forbidden to win. I think he took a bullet for the “team” and at some later date a future administration will give him a chance at redemption.
If Petraeus is as smart as he seems the first time the big “O” stiffs him he will bail. Should be before the middle of September if all else remains the same.
AuntieMadder commented:
I believe McChrystal is simply a victim of his own poor judgment and he had no ulterior motive when he said, and allowed his staff to say, stupid things to the Rolling Stoner interviewer. The only exception I’d believe at this point is that McChrystal wanted to get himself canned because he was afraid he’d end up dying in Afghanistan, expected to fight a war with his hands tied behind his back as our soldiers are doing there now.
Everyone needs to remember that the enemy of your enemy is not always your friend. In other words, just because McChrystal and his staff said some unfavorable things about Oilbama and his administration, that does not mean that they’re conservatives, Constitutionalists, or that they’re on the side of what’s right. This little piece of advice is especially for those who posted “McChrystal in 2012″ comments over the last few days. Grow up and get wise.
googiesmama commented:
I know that McChrystal is a far-left liberal only because the “state-run” media has been pretty easy on him…I mean not much in the way of –smearing or gratuitous attacks. A conservative general would had been eviscerated in this instance.

It doesn’t surprise me anymore when I find people of all walks of life, including military, that I would hope to be conservative, turn out to be a liberal/democrat.
I think it comes down to political education, historical perspective, and good leadership.
I believe now, more Americans are waking up from a long slumber of ignorance, about our true history. Look at the bestselling conservative history books over the last year.
Even during our Revolutionary War, a third of the population supposedly did not support the War. Yet today, we still have ignorant people benefiting from the leadership and wisdom of others like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, etc. etc.
It is hard for me to respect the judgment of ANYONE who sides with Democrats, Liberals, and Progressives today.
There are leaders and there are followers. If McCrystal was truly a believer in Obama, and a liberal democrat, he was not a leader in my eyes.
Maybe he had a jaded view of the United States in his mind, and believed he was serving his country, but he might have also just been in it for his career.
I don’t think George Washington would have supported Obama.
We have so many of the wrong people leading us in the United States, that have no business leading others, let alone leading our country.
I believe our best talent for leadership is still hiding amongst our population and businesses, and have yet to surface.
Will be able to keep our Republic without a full blown revolution? I hope and pray so.

Barring Fox News from his HQ is perfectly sensible- the danger of a disinformation campaign is that you can end up believing your own propaganda.
