It Begins… Plans to Evacuate Tampa Bay Are Put Into Place …Update: Pensacola Beach Closed

Large slicks of oil and tarry mats floated in on the Florida shore on Wednesday.
As Barack Obama continues to golf, hit the ballpark, BBQ and party, the BP oil slick is now threatening Tampa Bay. Authorities have set up plans for evacuation.

Gulf Oil Spill 2010: Plans to evacuate Tampa Bay area are in place.
As FEMA and other government agencies prepare for what is now being called the worst oil spill disaster in history, plans to evacuate the Tampa Bay area are in place.
The plans would be announed in the event of a controlled burn of surface oil in the Gulf of Mexico, or if wind or other conditions are expected to take toxic fumes through Tampa Bay.
This practice has been used by the US Forestry service, when fire and smoke threaten the health and well being of people.
The elderly and those with respiratory problems would be more susceptible to health risks, in the event of a controlled burn.
Estimates of the rate of BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill have varied. Independent scientists now suggest that the true spill rate, before the riser pipe was cut off in June, was between 20,000 and 50,000 barrels a day.
Since the April 20th explosion, which resulted in the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig, there have been more than a million gallons of chemicals poured into the Gulf of Mexico in efforts to break up the spill. The chemicals have come under scrutiny because of their own toxic nature.
It is not certain if the massive slick will have to be set on fire near Tampa Bay, but the possibility has not been ruled out.

The residents of Tampa Bay will have to be compensated, of course; and as a result, BP, most likely, will have to consider bankruptcy.
In purposely making the situation worse, Obama sends the US and the British oil industries in a calculated tailspin, which ultimately cripples our economic well-being pushing our country closer to the precipice of destruction.
Obama, however, miscalculates the character, intelligence, and hearts of the Amerian people. Rather than look to him for help, we will reject him and right ourselves.

Obama has turned down 21 offers of help from 17 foreign countries. 17 sand dreggers were stalled 24 hours for sudden need to do life vest and fire extinguisher inspection. An offer from a Maine company to produce tens of thousands of ft per day of boom was turned down because they failed un-named quality standards. Jindal was given no answer on his request to build berms, and no answer, and no answer, until he went ahead anyway, and then was told to stop.
There is a point where it is no longer that they’re just playing golf and doing nothing, but they are actively impeding the cleanup effort.

Unfortunately, even with a Republican tidal wave this fall the numbers still won’t work for an impeachment AND conviction. I can’t remember the numbers exactly, but there definitely won’t be enough votes in the Senate. It will take two election cycles to get enough Democrats out, and hopefully Obama loses his re-election bid and impeachment/conviction/removal won’t be necessary–just prosecution of an already-deposed leader for crimes committed while in office.

Moreover, Bush promoted and sought to expand offshore drilling.
FACT: Bush MMS adopted regulations stating drillers are “in the best position to determine the environmental effects of its proposed activity.” The Washington Post reported on May 25 that the actions taken by MMS “are shaped in part by a 2005 regulation it adopted that assumes oil and gas companies can best evaluate the environmental effects of their operations.” The article stated that “[t]he rule governing which information the MMS should receive and review before signing off on drilling plans states: ‘The lessee or operator is in the best position to determine the environmental effects of its proposed activity based on whether the operation is routine or non-routine.’” Rolling Stone magazine reported that these “new rules pre-qualified deep-sea drillers” to receive an “exemption from environmental review,” even though such exemptions were “originally intended to prevent minor projects, like outhouses on hiking trails, from being tied up in red tape.”
FACT: In April 2008, Bush MMS loosened rules requiring blowout plan. The Associated Press reported on May 5 that a “rule change two years ago by the federal agency that regulates offshore oil rigs allowed BP to avoid filing a plan specifically for handling a major spill from an uncontrolled blowout at its Deepwater Horizon project.” AP further reported: “The MMS rule change, made in April 2008, says that Gulf rig operators are required to file a blowout scenario only if one of five conditions applies. For example, an operator must provide a blowout scenario when it proposes to install a ‘surface facility’ in water deeper than 1,312 feet. While Deepwater Horizon was operating almost 5,000 feet below the surface, [BP spokesman William] Salvin said the project did not meet the definition of a surface facility. The MMS official agreed.”
FACT: Bush MMS 2007 environmental impact assessment for BP lease dismissed risk of massive oil spill. The Post reported on May 5: “While the MMS assessed the environmental impact of drilling in the central and western Gulf of Mexico on three occasions in 2007 — including a specific evaluation of BP’s Lease 206 at Deepwater Horizon — in each case it played down the prospect of a major blowout.” The Post stated that “In one assessment, the agency estimated that ‘a large oil spill’ from a platform would not exceed a total of 1,500 barrels and that a ‘deepwater spill,’ occurring ‘offshore of the inner Continental shelf,’ would not reach the coast. In another assessment, it defined the most likely large spill as totaling 4,600 barrels and forecast that it would largely dissipate within 10 days and would be unlikely to make landfall.” According to the Times-Picayune, these assessments “paved the way for BP to assert that its plans for drilling in Lease Sale 206 posed no real dangers.”
FACT: Bush MMS failed to respond to 2004 warning about vital piece of blowout preventer. The Wall Street Journal reported on May 3 that “[f]ederal regulators learned in a 2004 study that a vital piece of oil-drilling safety equipment may not function in deep-water seas but did nothing to bolster industry requirements. The equipment, called shear rams, is supposed to seal off out-of-control oil and gas wells by pinching the pipe closed and cutting it.” The Journal further reported that “[e]xperts theorize the rams may have failed to work as expected in the Deepwater Horizon disaster.”
FACT: Bush MMS ignored warnings about faulty cementing in wells. AP reported on May 24 that numerous MMS reports identified a “poor cement job” as the cause of many offshore accidents, including incidents that took place in 2005 and 2007, “[y]et federal regulators give drillers a free hand in this crucial safety step.” AP noted that rig owner Transocean and “independent experts” have pointed to “faulty cement work” as a possible cause of the blowout, and that new rules “in the works long before the Deepwater Horizon” took effect June 3, which “take a conservative watch-and-wait approach and demand only routines already carried out around the industry: a management program with monitoring and diagnostic testing.”
FACT: WSJ reported that in 2003, Bush MMS decided not to require last-resort shut-off device. ABC News reported on April 30 that in 2000, MMS “issued a safety alert that called added layers of backup ‘an essential component of a deepwater drilling system’.” However, according to the Journal, “The industry argued against” mandating a remote-control shut-off switch that serves as “last-resort protection against underwater spills,” and “[b]y 2003, U.S. regulators decided remote-controlled safeguards needed more study. A report commissioned by the Minerals Management Service said ‘acoustic systems are not recommended because they tend to be very costly’.” The Journal noted that the Deepwater Horizon rig did not have a remote-control device, which is required “in two major oil-producing countries, Norway and Brazil,” and that “[i]ndustry consultants and petroleum engineers said that an acoustic remote-control may have been able to stop the well, but too much is still unknown about the accident to say that with certainty.”
NPR similarly reported that Michael Saucier, MMS regional director in New Orleans, said at a hearing, “I think it was around 2001, there were some draft rules concerning secondary control systems for BOP stacks, and those rules were then sent up to headquarters to continue through the process.” The NPR report goes on to state, “But what came back from headquarters were not rules, he said, just notices that ‘highly encouraged’ companies to use the backup systems. ‘There is no enforcement on it,’ he said.”
FACT: Bush MMS reportedly suppressed scientists’ concerns about environmental impact of spills in Alaska. A June 6 Denver Post article reported that an MMS office in Alaska rejected a 2006 analysis conducted by a biologist, which stated that a large oil spill could significantly harm fish populations. The analysis, which would have “required MMS to conduct a more detailed environmental impact statement before auctioning leases in the Beaufort Sea,” was rewritten after a supervisor told the biologist that his analysis would cause a “delay in sale 202. That would, as you can imagine, not go over well with HQ and others.” The Denver Post further reported, “[c]oncerns raised by another MMS biologist, James Wilder, that the impact on polar bears was not adequately addressed in Shell’s Alaska exploration plan, also were rebuffed, according to e-mails.”

I live in the Tampa Bay area and this has not been corroborated by any reputable local news source. IIRC, by the time the oil travels the more than 400 miles from Pensacola Bay to the mouth of Tampa Bay, it will be too degraded for burning to have much effect. Also, the local currents will not suck all the oil into the bay; most of it will head south past us.
I really expect more from Gateway Pundit in the way of fact-checking.

We are paying the feds for them to screw us. The locals want to cleanup the oil but are being stopped by the feds who will not do it themselves. Essentially, we are paying the feds our tax money to destroy the economies of the gulf states. How do we REALLY get their attention, stop paying federal taxes. The affected states need to pass emergency legislation authorizing people to withhold directly from their federal taxes an amount equal to what they have paid for the cleanup or for what they have lost. The legislation would forbid any enforcement action by the IRS in garnishing wages or seizing property of people who do so. We should stop paying to have our state economies destroyed because the feds will not allow a cleanup.

Nothing in modern history happens by accident… especially on the magnitude of this oil gushing disaster. Safety stops were intentionally bypassed, and this shows at best, incompetence, and at worst, ulterior motives to seek capital gains. As it is in any terror or ‘alleged accident’, an investigation needs to first follow the money. There were investor sources that had shorted on the futures on oil shortly before the well blew-up and sank, and this is where the investigation should begin – - after the oil well is permanently capped. But there is obviously more interest in capturing or letting the oil flow continue, rather than stopping the gushing leak.
A Navy official had suggested lowering a retired battleship down on the well to permanently seal the leak, but this suggestion has been ignored by the Main Steam Media.
Seafood WAS the only local food staple that wasn’t (yet) genetically modified by one of the Frankenfood suppliers, nor cloned and injected with growth hormones. Our government regulators have also conveniently avoided many of the alternative energy innovations that have existed since the early 1960s… but this is now merely a hindsighted option.
This growing oil spill has already killed the Gulf fishing industry and, will not only destroy the tourist industry in the gulf region but possibly the entire east coast. These shoreline communities cannot survive without the fishing industry and vacationers.
Imagine all of the damaged (condemned) beachfront property that will eventually be bought at tax payers’ expense at a fraction of its current market value. Then the government can sit on these acquired coastal region properties for 30 years and re-sell them for much more than the taxpayer paid for them.
However, this theory is only hypothetical, because neither our government nor BP would ever think to intentionally cause something this destructive to happen, let alone capitalize on a man-made crisis of this magnitude. RIGHT?

Contrary to reports such as the one on “Fox & Friends,” international assistance has been accepted. To date, 25 countries and four international organizations have offered support in the form of skimming vessels, containment and fire boom, technical assistance and response solutions, among others. A chart provided by the State Department shows that as of June 23 five offers had been accepted and 50 were under consideration — including multiple offers from a single country or entity. One offer had been declined: France offered a chemical dispersant that is not approved for use in the United States.

Now back in the day before Cap’n Incompetent set the new standard for dithering and fiddling, 5 out of 50 would be pretty scandalous 70 days into a spill, -especially since it is obviously still illegal (oh what a surprise, he’s doing something without lawful authority again) to accept that aid without the 5 minutes it would take him to type up a waiver to the Jones act he can’t bring himself to sign. Are people really so gullible that they can’t see through your paid talking points? Just curious, because I’m noticing an impossible high correlation between Obama supporters and people who will “believe any s**t that comes out of this tube”.

Back before Cap’n Incompetent set the new low for dithering and fiddling, accepting 5 out of 50 offers 70 days into the crisis would be considered pretty pathetic, especially since not one of those offers is actually legal (-wait, he’d do something without lawful authority?) until he finds the 5 minutes from private concerts, golf or burger outings to actually sign the Jones Act waiver.
I’ve noticed a high correlation between Obama supporters and people who will believe anything a paid troll will regurgitate to them. Does this still work? -because we were all really impressed 18 months ago when we found out that there are 53 million Americans that can listen to some obviously unqualified hack babbling some vapid talk of vague adjectives and then actually expect more than more vapid talk.

Go watch that video again. Watch it carefully. Because this shows the oil drifting directly across the Grand Banks, which would destroy the North Atlantic Fisheries that all of North America and Europe and even Russia depend on for food. Not just the fish we eat mind you – this also provides lots of our fertilizer. This is very serious and will lead to severe food shortages

There’re the people who are sniffing dismissively at the potential spread, but the damage has already started: plankton are surface-floating organisms, plant and animal that much of the sea life eats to survive – they are the life forms that eat the nutrients, the life forms that start the food chain. If the shrimp guys are already out of work, it means the shrimp are dying and they, which also eat plankton, are bigger than the plankton. No plankton, no food. Also, a big percentage of plankton are the equivalent of the larval stage of bigger things, like barnacles, clams, fingerling fish, all sorts of other organisms that will die – and so what if they somehow survive? No mature bivalve is going to survive being pumped thru with oil. Whales eat shrimp, krill, and strain plankton.
The potential ripple effects could be devestating. To see the wailing and snarling and caterwaulering of the envrionmentalists/celebrities/activists against EXXON-Valdez in an area that was actually confined to a bay and the spill limited – one tanker, not a spewing open well and not see ONE of them for this disaster – not ONE – is actually stunning – to comprehend the depths of the deceit they’ve been foisting on us for decades. AWOL.
In a matter of days, Obama threw half the USA AND the US military at HAITI, so much they were literally overwhelmed to the point of gridlock. He’s done squat to throw ANYTHING against this bleeding wound in the Gulf.
Of course, despite the fact that Haiti is one hour from the USA by air, Israel rescue and medics got there first.

The Iranians just told everyone they are experts at oil spills since they get so many around them. Oh, uh huh. “Lots of practice.”
And they are the ones funneling arms into Gaza, which for a “holocaust,” has the world’s highest birthrate population growth rate. Israel sends in tons of food a week to keep Gazans fat and sassy. Not a starving Gazan anywhere. Would love to bring a Sudanese Darfurian to Gaza and ask him where he’d like to live, Gaza or Darfur refugee camp. If you apply for a disability claim from an insurance company or, especially, the government, you have to PROVE you have been injured, REPEATEDLY. The insurance companies and government do not just “take your word for it” and never question you again. Seems to me those “notoriously efficient” Nazis were pretty sloppy, There must have been MILLIONS of “survivors” in 1945, to still have 250,000 alive, in just Israel, today.There are a reported 600,000 WORLDWIDE!
