Governor Haley Barbour spoke with Chris Wallace on FOX News Sunday about Barack Obama’s Gulf oil spill performance. Barbour said:

“The American people will make their own judgements… Like Napoleon said, ‘Never interfere with your enemy when he’s in the process of destroying himself.’”

Ouch!

  1. Good analysis of this administration.

  2. A true Southern gentleman. If you have nothing good to say………..

  3. Well, he just did. Idiot. Don’t say stuff like that, it will be used against you. You have to be perfect!!!!!!

  4. If only the damage was limited to him and his socialist pirates.

  5. He still has a lot of true believers, but as these multiple disasters continue to take their tolls, they will peel away. I predict he will hit Bush-like approval numbers by November (which will be good timing for the right at election time).

  6. I like that old fat redneck.

  7. Off topic…

If you go to http://www.cnn.com/ and scroll down a bit you can vote in their daily poll on whether a mosque should be built near Ground Zero.

  8. One ongoing remark that has not been addressed is this conception that Obama has to show emotion. This is definitely a Democratic notion, the need to emote.

What kind of useless talk is this? Since when did we want politicians to bite their lower lip and proclaim that they feel our pain?

Pass the hankies, it will make us all feel better.

I would be satisfied if they would just do their jobs and be responsible stewards of our national heritage.

We don’ need no steenkin’ cryin’.

  9. Like clyde posted, if it was only himself he’s destroying…

  10. Things seem to be escalating very fast, and not it a good way…it is becoming more and more obvious to even those who normally don’t pay attetion to politics that something is very wrong…
and to those who do normally pay attention to politics all these events are on purpose, no doubt about it…

Just as they informed everybody in 2008 that everybody was planning to vote for Oilbama, the polls must still be tilting in Oilbama’s favor, telling the public that he’s still above Bush numbers in favorability. I say he’s already dipped – no, he plummeted – below Bush’s lowest numbers. Just this morning, in fact, I heard a talking head on tv saying that the Gulf spill situation is to Oilbama what the Iranian hostage situation was to Carter.

  12. I think the actual quote is: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

Just a clarification, in case anyone wants to use it elsewhere.

  13. I sure am seeing a lot of photos of Hussein with his shirt sleeves rolled up.

  14. The Oil slick is just the beginning. IF Iran helps with their Navy to assist the Gaza flotilla of death then there is outright war and Obama WILL NOT aid and assist Israel. Bible and Dead sea scrolls are correct.
    Game on. Powder is dry.

  15. Yeah shirt sleeves rolled up to expose skinny useless arms. Only roll up your sleeves if you intend to do some work. Obama intends to do nothing, and is doing nothing. just flap his jaws reading the telepromptor. If only his efforts were as big as his ears, we would have something.

  16. The only problem is that the “long legged macdaddy” is going to take us all down with him. Just like Hitler took Germany down with him.
Who is going to rebuild us, the Mexican’ts? the can’tnadians? GM?

I think Israel will be his “waterloo”, too many “god-fearing” Americans don’t like how he is treating the Israeli’s. You don’t want to be on the wrongside when the middle east explodes. Right now we are on the wrongside. In history good always defeats evil in the end.

  17. MC– The book is right! Time for all to read the final Chapter to anyone that will listen.

  18. Napoleon also thought Hannibal and Caesar and himself were the world’s best generals, ever ever.

As Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart posed, “If Hannibal and Napoleon are the best, ever, what does that make the generals who defeated them?”

    Who’s taking Obama head on?

    Palin and Brewer.
Nothing to lose or everything to gain?

(The Ancient world’s greatest general: Scipio Africanus defeated Hannibal on the plains of North Africa. The Roman Senate tasked Scipio with the mandate to defeat Hannibal, who’d been stomping thru Italy for over a decade, then in self-centered power fears, didn’t give him a budget to do it. Scipio’s brilliant strategy of methodically dismembering the structure that Hannibal depended on, and then Scipio’s epic battlefield confrontation to defeat Hannibal and his war elephants on the plains of North Africa is still studied in military schools all over the world.)

Lesson: One can ALWAYS give one’s enemy a tactical SHOVE while he’s doing himself in.

  20. That’s my governor. I see that some of you opiners don’t know him well at all. I am thankful we had him leading during Katrina. He is a good man.

  21. We need to start fighting to win like James Carville says, “When your opponent is drowning, throw him an anchor!”

  22. The Sheriffs department of Maricopa County Arizona, are fine upstanding valiant men and women. They sure don’t deserve the constant rattle of racism aimed at them from FOOLS like Mayor Gordon. We here in Arizona see double standards. Get into an accident with an illegal and watch what happens when the police arrive on the scene. The illegal is asked for ID, they have no license or registration and are let go, while you have to have all ID in order, license registration, and proof of insurance. No I.D, now try to get repairs done on your car, ha good luck you’re on your own dime, that is unless you call the Sheriffs dept instead of the police, then you have a chance.

    ………..

Have a high regard for him. He PROVED he can govern and deliver by his leadership during Katrina.

Because of his EARNED credibility, just encouraging him to be more forthright in confronting the Democratic Party dangerous agenda and FAIL. For example, generally for the GOP WHERE is the combined voice of politicians in support for our ally Israel?

I certainly agree with the fact the the GOP leadership is not standing strong enough publically. Talk is especially cheap these days, and I hate what they are doing to Israel.

But as far as this Gulf spill goes, I stand by whatever Haley Barbour says. Having worked with the Barbours for 3 years, I could tell by the look on his face while he was talking that he is pissed. All of the Barbour men are like that. Smile on the outside, controlled boil on the inside, that is, until it’s time to act.

  28. nathan jessup i watched that vidio and your right gotta love those guys specialy the first telling that loud mouth mayor to shut up

  29. I love me some Haley Barbour. He is getting flack here for not meeting with Obama but I’m not so sure what the big deal is. He participates in all of the phone conferences and it sounds to me like he would prefer to work with Admiral Allen and avoid the others if he can (at least that’s what it seemed like to me from the full Fox interview).

It really annoys me when people here in MS criticize him about this after the leadership he showed during Katrina. My dad lives in Pass Christian and I was down there over the weekend, it was business as usual.

It’s too bad Haley has that strong accent and those lobbying connections because he would make a fantastic president. Mississippi is an extremely hard state to govern, we have so many problems and few easy solutions and he has done so much over the past 7 years.

  30. Oilbama– Proof that affirmative action is a failure.

  31. Haley is right on the money. When “R”‘s pile on Democrats mess’ they give cover to them.

Everyone in the Republican Party would be wise to heed his words on this.

Helen Thomas is a great example. On the HuffPo the headline is about Ari Fleshers statement and the libs are piling on him and not Helen.

  32. @jerryl #30

It seems as though calling out liberal babble it the best approach to expose the lies. Chris Christie sure has figured out the formula. As a Conservative I see an overused, outdated and mindless playbook being used by brainless liberals. Who’d a thunk it?

    NRJ

  33. My very good friend and fellow Conservative Gov. Haley Barbour is just “a simple Southern boy from Yazoo City” (his campaign commercials were like watching the biography of a great yet humble American!), and he has the right attitude about this mess that “President” 0bama has caused in the gulf. Spending the weekend in New York City was a shrewd PR move and shows that he will not stoop to accept the hand of the enemy! This Marine, for one would, not accept any illegal orders from a political limp noodle like him. Don’t let the anti-business whacko’s get to you, Haley! As soon as 0bambi gets off his duff and gets this thing cleaned up, the quicker BP can regain its perception as a valuable pillar of American capitalism.

    ……….

I’m just one of the regular official commentators. Shane Wilkfors (DSW) manages it – he’s been active in AZ politics, especially Pro-Life. FYI. He recently announced he’s working on JD Hayworth’s campaign so the McCainiacs and Leftie trolls are pissed that he has the gall to put JD Hayworth press releases on it. Gee. The nerve.

Anyway, I’ve made about three opinion posts about what I believe is a very very dangerous undermining of law enforcement by the political Left.

So, this post and video ties right into it, regrettably:

My perspective has been the Third World. One of the characteristics of the Third Worlds is ineffective, corrupt and unprofessional policing – which ISN’T accidental. Corrupt government do not want effective policing. They underpay, don’t pay, they underequip, they give minimal training, they lard it with hacks.

It’s hideous to see American, and in this case especially Arizona law enforcement under the hysterical Left’s campaign to abuse them – a purposeful attack designed to undermine the LAW – Federal and STate in SB1070. If the Left is allowed to continue their abuse of police, good men and women will QUIT.
Police and the Sheriffs’ departments NEED to know the public has their backs. AMerica has the finest policing inthe world, developed over YEARS of investment – the LEFT with DESTROY that. There is a reason Americans are not subjected to entire neighborhoods being robbed by one armed gang – all night long to go house to house and not a cop in sight, depite dozens of frantic calls.
We have extremely professional law enforcement, we CAN LOSE IT in frightening speed.

  35. If you don’t think the goal here is tying legislation to “reform” offshore drilling into CAP AND TAX legislation, you’re mad.

The Dems aren’t satisfied with destroying health care in this country. Now they are going for the rest of the economy too. If they manage to sucker the GOP into passing CAP AND TAX along with offshore drilling regulations, get ready to move to Canada or get ready for the price of everything to double.

  36. John McCain needs to retire with dignity, the dignity that he has refuse to show us. His sudden discovery of conservatism is a slap in all Arizonians faces. J.D will at lest be honorable and true to his constituents with all his votes, and not reaching across the aisle only to bring back a bloody stump. With all his back room deals and COMPROMISES and the dishonest way he conducts himself he has to go.

  37. Col. North, nice to hear from you. You sir are an inspiration to all Freedom loving Americans Semper fi.

  38. I’ve proposed this exact strategy back in December 2009. Check it out here:

    http://hyphenatedamericans.blogspot.com/2009/12/what-should-conservative-do-now.html

  39. Gov. HB would make a great president. He is a great manager and leader.

He would drive the left mad too.

  40. The worst ecological disaster hits the gulf coast and all you can do is bag on the President and support a Redneck who wants to keep drilling. I feel you are all blinded by racism. Thats just my opinion. We should be leading the world in a new direction, the sun, wind and tides are free. How many generations of families will lose their livelihood? Prior to Obama there was Bush and Chaney both Oil men, they don’t give a hoot about anything but their bank accounts.

  41. I think one of the the things that lead to Obama getting elected was the sentiment that people were tired of electing Presidents from the South. They felt it was time to let other people from other parts of the country have their chance to lead. Well, it’s looking more and more apparent that we probably elect people from the South because they have that Git R’ Done mindset. Whilst we see now how the Chicago machine overwhelmingly runs on graft and political back scratching. For Obama it’s not about finding the most effective solution but the one that potentially yields a favorable outcome for a select few politically connected insiders. What’s worse is this administration acts like they knew going into this that all the crap they are shoving down our throats is going to leave a bad taste in our mouths. They are acting like a bunch of looters snatching and grabbing as much free stuff before the authorities arrive.

  42. Thanks, Smart People think alike.

  43. Clinton Left with a surplus.

    Bush left with a deficit.

If you were an employer who would you hire?
