Armed Couple Driving SUV Full of Weapons Detained at Tampa's MacDill Air Force Base

A armed couple was arrested tonight after they tried to enter Tampa’s MacDill Air Force Base in an SUV full of weapons and ammo.
Local ABC Action News reported:

Two people are in custody after trying to gain unauthorized access to Tampa’s MacDill Air Force Base.

At 5 p.m., the two individuals were stopped after they couldn’t provide the proper identification. Military style gear and weapons were found when their SUV was inspected by security forces.

MacDill AFB’s Fire Department and Explosive Ordinance Disposal units were dispatched and no explosives were found in the vehicle. The situation is still being investigated and the Bayshore gate remains closed.

Officials have not released the names of the two men.
