THE STATE-RUN MEDIA IS OUTRAGED!
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a bill today that bans schools from teaching classes that call for “the overthrow of the the US Government.”

The democratic-media complex believes this is racist:

The Yahoo headline reads:
“More racial controversy for Arizona”

The Politico headline reads:
“Arizona bans ‘ethnic studies’”

This is what the new law bans:

The law prohibits the teaching of any classes that promote “the overthrow of the United States government,” “resentment toward a race or class of people,” “are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group” or “advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.”

Like the Arizona immigration law, this sounds reasonable to most Americans.
But the far left and the far left media are outraged and report this as a new “racial controversy.”
Unbelievable.

  1. May God bless AZ Gov. Brewer…doing the job no other politician has the guts to do…

  2. Al Sharpton really had Arizona running scared, didn’t he?

  3. Talk about bigotry and profiling. African Hyphen American studies?

That is conjured up by bigots.
My uncle and family were career missionaries to Africa. To Muslims. They were white, cousins born white, Muslims were not Negroes but African American means blacks. Why are they so dishonest?

My great grand parents lived in Mexico but were Mexican and not Hispanic. They were not spaniards.
The ethnic studies are by intent, racist and divisive.

  4. And now we know why the San Diego Unified School District is in such budget turmoil:

The school board has no clue what it’s supposed to be doing. Those people held a meeting and voted on the Arizona immigration law, probably without knowing anything about its text.

    http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/may/12/school-board-condemns-arizona-law/

This school district has had, I have been told, six superintendents in six years, and these board members think it is their function to opine on a law passed by another state. Richard Barrera (President) and John Lee Evans (Vice President) as well as the rest of the board, and trustee Sheila Jackson, should be recalled, forthwith, and replaced by people who are interested in running a school district.

  6. Arizona should be renamed “The Common Sense state”.

  7. La Raza wants to bring back Aztecland or some such crap. Does that mean ripping beating hearts out of bodies as sacrifices, throw the still warm bodies down the steps of the political buildings? Slave labor?

Brewer has a pair that’s for sure and I’m glad to vote for her against Goddard – 2x loser.

  8. Brewer for President?

  9. When you remember back to the Democrat’s slave days you find — One of the worst punishments metered out to those who dared teach slaves and recently freed slaves English. After the Civil War it was even worse as the Democrats tried to contain the slaves down on the farms.

Apparently there isn’t much difference then and now.

And why wouldn’t you want immigrants to learn English? Would you think they would enjoy being slaves for life?

History, learn it or repeat it.

  10. Said another way… what the DNC-Controlled State-Run Media Complex is advocating for IS the overthrow of the the US Government.

  11. I guess they missed the video of the LaRaza radical professor at the rally promoting the overthrow of the US and promoting communism.

  12. Arizona is sounding more and more attractive.

  13. Divide and conquer.

Weak people are easier to control.

    Some people never learn.

  14. Funny, but the Yahoo! story didn’t mention the part about classes that advocate the overthrow of the U.S. Government …

  15. Finally, someone in government who has some sense.
Initially, these programs were begun with good intentions, but like everything else they were used by unqualified and biased individuals to promote political agendas and the personal povs of teachers and instructors.
The result being that these studies have further divided the nation’s children, emphasized their differences and made for ever more grievence over past conflicts.
So,instead of bringing more understanding of others, it has created a sort of separatism.
This approach was a failure of epic proportions and perhaps Gov. Brewer will start us on the path to rethinking how we teach our children.I sure hope so.

  16. She’s pulling the plug on funding for these classses that do not teach about USA History?
Good. It’s high time. My LEGAL immigrant grand parents did not get any special treatment or classes about their country. Teach REAL US History. That’s all. There is no money for illegal aliens to learn about their country. If they don’t like they can GO BACK HOME. Brewer for President.

  17. The dems want the groups fighting with each other. Blacks and Mexicans against Whites. This is inciting chaos and upheavel.

  18. wow gov brewer sarah palin michelle backman have more integrity and guts and truely love their states and acountry and willing too fight for both more then any male pol in the usa from what i can see

  19. Aripaio/Brewer….2012

  20. What is not understood by the ‘liberals’ is the difference between racism and nationalism.

In California, we have reached the point that students are marching under a Mexican flag.

This problem is NOT about racism, it is about Nationalism. The public school system has people teaching students to favor a foreign government over the US government.

  21. Taxpayers have been funding magnet schools for MeCHA for years. Public tax dollars
    fund racist school
    Posted: June 01, 2006

There was an online video circulating at the time which illustrated how local MeCHA gangs assaulted a reporter who visited one of these magnet schools.

  22. Its a shame the elites back East have absolutely no idea about what is going on in this country.

While we have many of Hispanic desent that are wonderful people who value America and have assimilated, there are also a significant number of Hispanic people, particularly in the South West US, that hate America and want to cause nothing but trouble.

We have freedom in America so that people can reach their highest potential in life. We should not provide freedom to people that want to overthrow our government, intimidate kids in school and teach hatred and racism.

If we don’t collectively act to rid our nation of these people, the trouble makers, we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

  24. Research La Raza Studies.

  25. I gotta hand it to Arizona. They are not shrinking violets.

  26. Brewer is presidental material. FINALLY there is a politician with real spine.

The Democratic party is showing its true agenda…throw down the USA and demolish its borders. Call everyone who gets in the way a racist. The light of truth is glaringly bright.

  27. They had gone THAT far over the cliff? Teaching classes on overthrowing the government?

  28. Uh, has the MSM been tinkering with the photo to make Brewer look like the wicked witch of the west?
That’s the second pix that makes her look horrid. She’s NOT that scary. A little creative art work there?

Nancy Pelosi, deficit queen, was blithely on a magazine cover looking 17 years old last month, but Brewer’s had at least two photos picked by the MSM that make her look 105. Pelosi is older than Brewer, and cranks up bigger debts. Brewer inherited the NAPOLITANO DEFICIT when Napolitano QUIT her GOVERNOR position, a quitter who didn’t honor her sworn pledge to complete her term.

If Brewer (R) is having to sign this stuff, remember she’s been governor only a few months, after 6 years of Janet Napolitano’s FAILED governance of Arizona. If the immigration issue has reached a head, Napolitano (D) for DEMOCRAT shouldn’t be forgotten as the one who let it fester, who ignored the border security problems, the current Arizona budget distaster is Napolitano’s bag of flaming tuds left on the Capitol front steps as she QUIT the state, RAN AWAY.

Yeah, THAT Napolitano. The one in charge of Homeland Security.

  29. The tide is turning. We are no longer allowing BIGOTS to tell us that WE are BIGOTS.
We are no long allowing those who are INTOLERANT of other views to tell us that we are INTOLERANT.
I can smell November from Wisconsin.

  30. “the (immediate) overthrow of the United States government?”

    SIGN ME UP!

I love to see the ankle-biters’ arguments turned around on them. Great job! LOL

  32. Some school in Chicago won its softball(?) championship for the first time in decades and was going to Arizona, but the school cancelled the trip…can’t support those racists, you know.

  33. Chicago is buried up to its eyeballs in debt… glad AZ was able to help out and save some $$$ for the school districts and taxpayers.

    Viva Los 1070!

  34. So, in the state of AZ ethnic studies, including Native American studies are banned. It is a good thing tribal land is “federal” because if the Brewer law were to apply, then the Navajo, Apache, and Hopi would no longer be allowed to study their own culture.

Arizona, like New Mexico, is – and always has been – a multi-ethnic society. On Saturday, a public school near where I live in Lincoln County, will be having their annual Fiesta Dancers – traditional Hispanic dancers. The group is very very good, and rather well known. According to Brewer’s new law, they would be considered “ethnic” and would not be allowed to carry on a tradition that goes back well over 50 years here.

I have a few ancestors who came over on the Mayflower. I would be a little annoyed if, in Plymouth, Mass. there were no ethnic studies about the original settlers. Same thing with my Jamestown ancestors.

To me ethnic studies are more a cultural and location kind of thing. To ban Native American ethnic studies in a state that is home to several remarkable Native cultures is just plain – well – stupid.

A society that fears things ethnic is truly a frightening thing.

    ….
    Heh heh.

I’m in AZ and boy howdy THAT did NOT go over well with the usual suspects. Just snarled and frothed and flailed, arrgh arrgh.
Finally, the retort was “Napolitano didn’t QUIT, she was PROMOTED.”

Sort of like Hillary Clinton (D) didn’t QUIT either. And Governor Richardson (D) QUIT and then had to UNQUIT to cover his butt back in New Mexico.

  37. Hey Pink Flamingo are you really that stupid.
No offense, but it takes a special kind of idiot to come to the conclusion that you just did.

  38. The law prohibits the teaching of any classes that promote “the overthrow of the United States government,” “resentment toward a race or class of people,” “are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group” or “advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.”

I don’t see ANYWHERE in here where the study of Native Americans, Europeans, Eskimos, Hispanics, Africans, Indonesians, Chinese, et cetera, are banned. Only those classes that are designed specifically FOR that ethnic group (and not designed for others) or classes that advocate ethnic solidarity. No fear of ethnic study here, just prohibiting a full class full of unchallenged drivel, designed for one ethnic group to study and that all taxpayers fund.

Taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be used for dividing Americans and sabotaging US assimilation… although, most statists don’t agree. Most of these classes have been championed by progressives, and liberal teachers have been teaching them for years, helping to promote racist and anti-non-minority philosophies and sentiments.

Saul Alinsky must be cursing from the grave about now about AZ.

  39. SJR
If you happened to bother and read the bill, rather than listen to MSN and their other commie networks you would know that the bill applies to ONLY those ethnic study groups which advocate the overthrow of the government, racial purity, socialism/commiunism. Most of this would apply to what is being taught at the highschool and college level that goes unchallenged(in other words taught as truth). The American Indian studies would still continue as well as the Fiesta Dancers. This is NOT about fearing ethics or having pride in where you come from. I fear people like you who bury their head in the sand to what is going on around you, spewing this drivel as if it were true.

  40. I love Arizona more and more. You all can just follow in our footsteps……the chicago team that didn’t come here, well who did that hurt…..not the coaches but the students. I will vote for Gov. Brewer…she has our backs.

    ……..

B.S. is truly a frightening thing, too … well, no, it’s just pathetic.

The “ethnic studies” at the heart of this are crap propaganda, pushed by those with political partisan agendas with emotional appeals to “injustices” and “oppression.”

It’s disingenuous to ominously suggest that a traditional dance group wouldn’t be allowed to perform. That’s legit culture, not the activist deharmonizers of the likes of LA RAZA who preach looking at all others who don’t fit the LA RAZA approved model with suspicion, separation, hate and covetousness. Think an African student is welcomed by LA RAZA? No way. How about an Apache or Navajo? LA RAZA, respresenting a particularly narrow ethnicity which has NEVER been confused with the tribal groups that roamed or settled AZ, NM, CO, NV, CA is claiming their traditional lands as THEIRS. They’ve never been buddies, even 800 years ago they weren’t friends.

Yeah, THAT’s the recipe for PEACE.

  42. Yet, the MSM would have everyone believe that overthrow/anarchy is the TPM objective. See? the left always accuses thier opponnent of what it is they themselves do. powder is dry

Gus, I think her red color came out of a bottle. She is actually a blonde. Make’s sense now doesn’t it. Either that or the bottle is empty and was 80 proof. powder is dry.

  44. I thought the only ones who wanted to overthrow the government were tea partiers? That’s what I’ve heard. Keith Olberman said so. You mean to tell me that La Raza and Mr. Ron Gochez, High School teacher at Santee High School in LA, political islam (CAIR), and all of the rest of the overthrow America crowd are serious?

  45. ClassicFilmNo,

The factual issue of whether or not an “ethnic studies” (ES) program teaches division, hate, and/or disloyalty is not dependent on whether it receives state funding. Just because a particular ES program doesn’t get state money doesn’t mean they can’t/don’t teach division, disloyalty, etc.

  46. More and more I get the feeling that I should move to Arizona. Seriously thinking about it.

  47. Could they have possibly found a worse picture to use? Allahpundit likes to post the worst ones he can find of her too. There are decent pics of her. She looked fine in the ones at the D-Backs game with Palin.

  48. The governor is ensuring that the Republicans became the party of white evangelicals – no “ethnics” need apply. Let’s give her a chance and see how that works out.

  49. This is the only politician I actually like. Maybe she can stop the mexicanification of the US.

I’m not even white but I don’t find anything racist in any of the things she is doing in Arizona, she needs to do more maybe make english the official language in Arizona.

The father of this country (George Washington) spoke english, I think everyone should speak and read english. The US Constitution is written in English not Spanish. Of course it is racist to even suggest such a thing.

re: The governor is ensuring that the Republicans became the party of white evangelicals – no “ethnics” need apply. Let’s give her a chance and see how that works out.

It looks like the republican party is more a party of patriots, though it still leans to the left somewhat. If the “ethnics” aren’t patriots they need not apply.
The democrats is a party of lazy people who don’t work, work for the civil government, immigrants.

  50. Gary D #55 — As a Hispanic and a Republican you are largely mistaken in thinking that “ethnics” need not apply. As a matter of fact, except for some misguided members of one branch of my family we are all Republicans. The irony is that these members of my family are the most uneducated. So, if I follow your train of thought, the Democrats are encouraging the uneducated to “apply”.

Furthermore, I approve both of the laws that the governor has put into effect and wish that more state governors would have her fortitude and stop coddling people who really do not care about this country.

  51. Reading the actual article it’s pretty clear this bill won’t amount to a hill of beans. I’d like to see at least a single class that this prevents before I start chanting Brewer 2012. Otherwise it’s just another neutered measure that lets proponents rest on their laurels about real change while simultaneously feeding the backlash. Have a chat with California about their GOP-lead immigration reform and you’ll get an idea of where this is headed.

  52. This is the text of the law. Arizona House Bill 2281.

    http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/hb2281s.pdf

  53. It’s the AZ state legislature that is putting these bills up. Brewer is signing them.

The yeoman’s work is being done by the state reps. They just passed another bill to totally revamp AZ’s education system – to rectify decades of low achievement – a very needed action. School achievement here is awful. Piss poor curriculum and “facilitators” instead of teachers who know their subjects.

  54. How do you think they would feel about this law if it would bans schools from teaching classes that call for “the overthrow of the Obama Administration” ?

Maybe they would think differently, eh?

  55. Yikes! I like Jan. My gosh, we better guard her she is valuable. What cajones she has, maybe she could clone them and pass them out to the Republican congressmen. Each would receive a pair with written instructions for proper use to receive full benefits. What a gov. (Ahhhnold, take note you jerk)

  56. Aren’t these the same folks who’ve had their panties in a bunch over “anti-government agitation” by Tea Party grannies? Aren’t they telling us that our government is good—but they want kids to be taught to overthrow it?

    This is really confusing.

  57. Brewer for President! This women has guts and wishing her and her State all the glory it well deserves. She is protecting her citizens not only from the illegal crime but also from those who wish to do us harm through indoctrination from our very schools. God Bless this women!
