Top Obama official told reporters from the Chicago Tribune today that the administration has no intention of processing illegal aliens referred by Arizona!
FOX News reported:
A top Department of Homeland Security official reportedly said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.
John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, made the comment during a meeting on Wednesday with the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper reports.
“I don’t think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution,” Morton told the newspaper.
The best way to reduce illegal immigration is through a comprehensive federal approach, he said, and not a patchwork of state laws.

Lets see we have suffered under this onslaught for more than 50 years, so just when do you and Immigration and Customs Enforcement plan on effectively enforcing the current Federal law, or do you only enforce laws you like? Oh yea I for got about that little used crossing into Canada that presents such a risk that your department is spending millions of our money to upgrade. This issue really shows what political correctness is all about. Racial profiling and affirmative action are two sides of the same coin. When law enforcement uses racial profiling to benefit society at large, it’s considered a horrible, unpardonable offense. When affirmative action is used to society’s detriment (e.g., promoting incompetent people to positions above their abilities), it’s considered a wonderful thing.
Not that the Arizona law is about racial profiling.

This is illustrative of what I have started commenting lately.
The federal government is illegitimate. It is enforcing laws at its discretion and according to liberal ideology rather than applying equal protections.
It is acting in its own interests and not to the benefit of the people.
With the increasing unionization of governmental employees, we are seeing the rise of a privileged class of government employees exercising political power, creating huge debt for the purpose of gaining their benefits, and losing the connection with the people who are supposed to fund them in ever-increasing amounts.
Very soon we will have huge pension benefit bailouts for these people who have benefits given to them by politicians against the interest of the public at large. Meanwhile the rest of the public must make do with a decreasing value of their savings, which funds the majority of their own retirements.
And that is why this official bureaucrat can make such a grandiose statement without fear fo retribution.

But I have two problems with that. First of all, the Arizona law is basically a reflection of and defers to federal law. Secondly, how is not enforcing the existing laws a “comprehensive federal approach” beyond a comprehensive sticking of the federal head in the …. uhm … sand.

Here’s an idea for Arizona: Since it would probably be prohibitively expensive to arrest and imprison illegals given the weekly rate of illegal immigration across their border from Mexico, how about picking them up and driving them to Los Angeles! So, we’re not entitled to protection from drug traffickers—when we’re in our vacation home in AZ City (8 miles from where the Pinal co deputy was recently shot and they rounded up over 100 illegals.) However, when Obama was recently here in Illinois—–in Quincy—-he calls out sharp shooters for protection against the peaceful law abiding blue hair tea partiers. ICE has a list of all non complying social security numbers with all major employers in the US. They don’t need Arizona to lift a finger. They could start sending letters tomorrow to these employers that if they don’t clear up these irregularities within 120 days, the feds will do the job themselves by visiting their workplaces.

This has led to a State having to take matters into its own hands and it should be noted their efforts are not to unduly tax people but instead to simply insure the safety of their citizens.
