Four students in the San Francisco area were sent home from school yesterday for wearing American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo.
The administration said the T-shirts were “incendiary.”

NBC Bay Area reported:

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal’s office.

“They said we could wear it on any other day,” Daniel Galli said, “but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it’s supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today.”

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.

They said if we tried to go back to class with our shirts not taken off, they said it was defiance and we would get suspended,” Dominic Maciel, Galli’s friend, said.

The boys really had no choice, and went home to avoid suspension.

  1. Time to fire the principal, and the school board. What ever happened to the first admendment? Should mexican/americans not be wearing american flags, or are they illegal mexicans?

  2. It’s budget time. The best thing the parents can do for that school system is clean house and get somebody who actually wants to teach students, instead of organize the parents in the various positions of authority.

    In California, this can be done.

  3. A teachable moment: To be really incendiary, the students should have worn French flags on their t-shirts.

    The principal missed a prime opportunity to teach all of the students a bit of history, and a bit of the power of US marketing interests to make a non-observed holiday in Mexico into a huge pseudo-ethnic booze fest in the States, a la St. Paddy’s Day.

  4. Time for some major changes in California …..

  5. Oh my gosh, I thought this article was a joke. Wow, I’m such a fool, I thought this was still the United States of America – a free country.

  6. And why are we celebrating sucko de mayo, is that a new flavor of mayonnaise?

    I say if you don’t like America, if you don’t want to see our flag, celebrate our heritage, then why not just go back to the pit you came from. I haven’t seen any celebrations in the USA of the French Bastille Day … anyone?

    Do Mexicans even realize the communists running Mexico are using them as useful idiots?

    One thing that needs to be remembered, when the Democrats ran the American slave trade, the most prohibited thing you could do to a slave, or even a freed slave, was to teach them to read and write. Penalties were severe. There is a method to the Democrats madness of all the Mexican language instructions in school? Could it be, the same old racism in the Democrat party?

  7. Why do we now celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Why are we not celebrating various independence days and regime changes from countries all over the world? If we’re going global, I’m just sayin’…

  8. The American flag is NEVER offensive in ANY situation.

    Step 1: Get lawyers
    Step 2: Nationalize this story
    Step 3: School apologizes

  9. Hey Teacher. That flag they’re wearing? It is the flag of *everybody* in the school, because they are all citizens of the United States of America. It has been the flag that stood in stark contrast to intolerance, bigotry, socialism, and tyranny across the whole world. It is the flag that stands out for the American citizens right to speak our minds, while mere subjects of other countries must cower beneath the uplifted boot of their governments, unable to speak without the threat of fines, imprisonment or even death.

    So I would like to say, as is my right under our Constitution, stick it. Sideways.

  10. It’s San Francisco – what do you expect?

  11. Teacher Union have already bankrupt,cal. mexican economy was bankrupt in 1858 now they up here to destory our, the whole Union in ca. need to be kick out.

  12. It’s nice to see ‘diversity’ bringing us all together!

  13. I would have let the principal suspend me.

    I would, of course, have remained utterly respectful, but would have refused both to turn my shirt inside-out, and to go home to change it.

    If the American flag is incendiary to a certain demographic of students, then that demographic of students should be re-educated, in order to gain a greater appreciation for what that flag represents.

  14. Time to fire the Principal, the VP, and the horses they rode in on.

  15. To HADES with CINCO de MAYO.
    If you want to celebrate MEXICO’s Independence then GO TO MEXICO.
    Do people in Mexico celebrate Quatro de July?
    DIABLO no, they dispise it.

    Stupid principal, Stupid Moronic Latinos.
    What the LAVA happened to FREEDOM of SPEECH.

    Opps NOT ON SINK HO DE MAY HO!

  16. The mexicans on campus were offended? If they are legal citizens of America, shouldn’t they be proud of the American flag? It’s AMERICA. Go back to Mexico if you have a problem with our flag and traditions. Cinco De Mayo is not an American holiday…we don’t have to celebrate it if we don’t want to, and we should always be able to display our flag. Our poor Country.

  17. A bad move, but what’s worse is that the RW thinks this is a great opportunity to rear its ugly head w/the ‘down with pluralism’ card. You know who else doesn’t subscribe to pluralism? The terrorists.

  18. and the world laughs…

  19. Hmmm : “pluralism” == “only Mexican flags”?

    How, um, interesting.

  20. (Hard to say why we’re encouraging celebration of an American drinking holiday by high schoolers… but still.)

  21. People who support the subordination of our sense of nation, it’s laws and traditions, in a craven attempt to mollify those inimical to it, have, in truth, voluntarily abdicated their own rights and privileges as citizens – because they obviously recognize no obligation or responsibility inherent in its possession.

    We have, living in our midst, a class of people who are proud to consider themselves nation-less. Who have been taught to feel nothing but disdain and embarrassment for the country of their birth. Some of them sit presently at the highest levels of our government.

  22. I would have let the principal suspend me.
    ==============

    Me, too, Chip.

    Lawsuits, damages, firings, SCOTUS, deportations: these things would dance like sugarplums in my head.

  23. Home schooling, anyone?

  24. The students should have said they thought it was Cinco de Quatro, a new holiday instituted by Obama in 2009.

  25. This story along with a companion story I blogged about today where white elementary school students in Ann Arbor, MI (my neighboring city) were EXCLUDED from a field trip to hear an African-American rocket scientist. ONLY black students were invited and allowed to attend as part of a segregated lunch group.

    While these aren’t the main reasons I homeschool, they sure make me glad I do.
    Racial profiling is tolerated when you’re a white American student in an American school.

    It’s now considered “social justice” and an educational opportunity.

  26. Where’s the ACLU?

  27. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican celebration, and we live in America…we don’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo…it wasn’t a Mexican School, it is an American school…I think the parents of these kids need to sue this school district. If the American Flag is “incendiary”, in a American school then we are really in trouble…
    I was born and raised here…so was my Mother, my Dad came before illegal immigrations was a problem back in 1918, and got papers to live here legally…we were never brought up to be Mexicans, but Americans…
    American tax payers support that school, so to do that is just wrong…I really hope that the parents of these kids do hire a lawyer and sue the school and demand disciplinary actions against this principal.
    The actions of these folks, the illegal Mexicans just reverbates on down the food chain, because it affects all of us, and it effects the people that have lived here all their lifes, and for generations..because we all get bunched into one big group and that is not good..not good at all.

  28. Wasn’t Cinco de Mayo a “won the battle, lost the war” deal anyway? What’s the celebration about besides getting hammered?

    Maybe the boys should have worn “Remember the Alamo” shirts, or ones with the USS Arizona firing its guns.

    Anything Arizona upsets these boarder busters lately.

  29. Call the number for the principal of this school and let them know the fury we feel.
    707-446-1858

  30. I’ve said it before: If you do not homeschool or willingly make the economic sacrifice to send your offspring to private Christian school, you are guilty of de facto child abuse. Instead of putting your money where your mouth is, how about putting your children and your principles ahead of your money? Or is that too judgmental for all you self-proclaimed “conservatives” (old-fashioned liberals who still won’t objectively examine or reject most of the left’s assumptions and proclamations about race, culture, and nationality)?

  31. That principal better be thanking God that I am not a parent of one of those kids; he would be SORRY. ACLU nothing. I would slap a lawsuit on him so fast his head would spin.

  32. So, Norwegian Independence Day is May 17th. You’re welcome to wear the US flag. In fact, you’re encouraged to honor the US flag!!
    .

  33. In a few months this school will be begging for federal freshly printed money because they are broke. Not just because of Arnolds follies but because they have been invaded by a horde of non citizens who do not pay their fair share and live on the government teat. Enough already, America love it or leave it stop this insane pc bull.

  34. What frustrates me is not that this is occurring is that conservatives are actually surprised by it. The very idea of compulsory public education is a socialist notion intended to conform individuals to the desires of the government. I just watched a Congressional committee meeting on education and why anyone would want Governors state capitols or DC politicians deciding what their child should be learning is beyond my comprehension. Freedom of thought is a fundamental right and yet so many conservatives willingly turn over their children each day for the convenience “free” public education affords them.

  35. All hear! hear! Bill-tb #6 -

    “…when the Democrats ran the American slave trade, the most prohibited thing you could do to a slave, or even a freed slave, was to teach them to read and write. Penalties were severe. The TRUTH will set you free.

  36. Wow, just wow.
    The Mexicans are fully annexing the Southwest and West for Mexico and Americans are allowing it.
    Margaritas anyone?

  37. Those who can’t do, teach…

    I HATE LIBERALS!!!

  38. Sheila,

    I read your statement twice and still cannot make any connections as to what the hell you are trying to say.

  39. averagemelon #42 – you sure are

  40. Mail campaign – send flags to that school and to the school board.

  41. Granted it’s SanFran–but this is an outrage.

    I completely understand what Sheila is saying. Publik skool–over my dead body. ;o)

  42. I would LOVE to see what would happen if Mexican students were sent home for wearing Mexican flag shirts on the Fourth of July.

  43. L.C.C. #44

    Send ‘em a box of American flags, with “CAUTION! INCINDIARY MATERIALS INSIDE!” written on the box.

  44. I think the hispanics, legal & ILLEGAL forgot which country they live in! We are NOT in Mexico and will where our FLAG tshirts any damn time we want to! Cinco De MAYO is NOT a US holiday! We do not honnor mexican holidays in the USA. The school also needs to remember this is the USA, not Mexico. Go back home and support your holidays there!

    Take away our flag and you will be KICKED OUT and BACK to your pathetic country!

    You live in the USA, you follow our LAWS!
    Dont like it? Dont let the doorknob hit you in thr A** on the way back home!

  45. Well, tell you what, if the American flag is incindiary so ought to be American tax dollars.

  46. I wonder what flag they had flying in front of the school?

  47. Is it a crime to be white in America, yet?

    Is marriage between white people illegal, yet?

    Should I start reading up on La Raza studies?

    Will white men ever take THEIR country back?

    Were the Founding Fathers latino?

  48. Yep.
    The same thing happened on St Patty’s day….oops, wait, no it didn’t. Why? Because Irish-American students wouldn’t have become upset by the wearing of their national flag.
    Why is it such an affront to the Mexican students? Time to look around and see where you are.

  49. I hate this hyphenated-American thing. Mexican-Americans? Those are Mexicans IN America. African-Americans? Africans IN America.. Myself I’m an American-American like you all, an American IN America and I have loyalty only to America.

  50. Cinco de Mayo is not a major holiday in Mexico.

    It is only commemorated, in a minor form, to remember the victory of the Mexican Army over French troops at the Battle of Puebla. (The French used to occupy Mexico for a time. And you would not probably believe that Maximilian, a Hapsburg – yes, a Hapsburg – arrived there and ruled as “Emperor of Mexico” for a while, until he was captured and executed by Mexican troops.) There’s the usual speech to remember those who fell and those who won the battle. Nothing more.

    Meanwhile, it became a holiday here because of the beer industry. They began to call it “a celebration of cultural heritage”. And people took it, hook, line and sinker.

    In other words, it became an excuse to drink!

    It’s nice that cultural heritage is celebrated. Just don’t tell me you’re celebrating it while getting high on margaritas.

  51. This is NOT Meh-hico. It is AMERICA!! Let them go to Meh-hico and celebrate…this is NOT their country, and we do NOT honor them. They should honor AMERICA.

    There are so many damn traitors in this country. Makes me sick!!!!!

  52. S. Wolf
    I only used the hyphen to illustrate American kids with Irish heritage. I didn’t use the hyphen for the Mexican children because most that are offended by an American flag would probably not be Mexican-Americans, they would just be Mexicans.
    My grandparents struggled to come to this country, legally. Because of their sacrifices, I am American and that is how I describe myself when asked.

  53. Mrs. X and Sheila, I am a public school teacher yet I send my kids to private school. Speaks volumes.

    Left Coast Conservative – what is the school’s address? I’ll mail a flag today.

  56. Right is wrong. Good is bad. US citizens are punished for wearing t-shirts with US flags on them because Hispanics MIGHT become violent. Don’t punish the wrong behavior (violence) punish those who do nothing wrong (non-violent) that MIGHT be offensive. Delusional being lived out – PC gone wild.

    Sue, baby, sue. San Fran needs to be shaken to their core if they are going to get this message – and money is the language they understand. Sue, sue, sue.

  57. Is San Francisco even a part of the US anymore?

  58. Wes is district administrator. Ask him to take action against the principal.

    Principal of the high school is Nick Boden. His mail box number is:

    40102

    The school’s number is:

    408-201-6000

    Principal Boden’s e-mail is:

    nick.boden@mhu.ca.us

  59. Ya’ll I agree, sue. In the language of Ronald Reagan you would be defunding the left. This is what must happen. They will settle out of court due to the financial mess they are in. powder is dry.

  60. They suspended them for the wrong reason. They should have been suspended for disrespecting the American Flag. The Flag Code clearly states that the flag is not to be used as clothing. http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm

  61. Another thing about those students – not all students in public schools are citizens. Many are green card holders. Some are here and, because they have an address, they get education. Not all school systems require the paperwork to ensure they are born in the USA. And, should the child be one born here with illegal parents, they are torn between 2 loyalties, their “home country” vs. their “birth country.” It is considered by the leftists that education is a “right” in this country, and ALL people living here may be enrolled in public schools, legal residents or not.

    Don’t assume that all people in public schools are American citizens. I grew up in Montgomery County, MD, where many diplomats lived. I went to school with children of diplomats, or foreign-born children whose parents were legally employed (holding green cards). There were also others, as I recall, who had the papers, but were not necessarily “legal.” The laws are different now, and are not as strict as when I attended school. Our schools are bursting at the seams with many who should not be allowed to attend public schools – it is another “entitlement” to most.

  62. I just talked to the admin for the Superintendent. I demanded his immediate resignation, to which she responded that it is not a district policy and that investigation and response is forthcoming..

    the school’s number is:408-201-6100

  63. They Hispanics are showing how they don’t want to be part of this country, heritage, culture, or language.

    As I stated under another story, if the rest of the American people don’t wake up, the Southwest will become our Palestine in the next 20-25 years.

    They don’t want to be part of the U.S.A. they want to set up their own country in the U.S.A.

    This is a classic display of their true agenda.

  64. Joan of Arrrr. #3
    “To be really incendiary the students should have worn French Flags on their shirt.”
    It wouldn’t have meant a thing to the Mexican students. Bring up the battle of Puebla to most Mexicans and you get a blank stare. However, ever since they started promoting Cinco de Mayo I have made it a point to celebrate Cameroon Day on April 30. No I have never been in the French Foreign Legion, but you have to admire any commander who can hold off 2000-3000 enemy with a combined strength of 60 legionnaires.

  65. I am still laughing
    The school name is Live Oak.
    The “mascot” is they call the students “ACORNS”

    The ACORN deal is not only a BIG deal, it is soo self explanatory.

  66. @ Sheila: I’d love to homeschool my kid, but cannot afford it, at least not right now. I have to go out and earn a living, and at the moment earn only enough to pay my bills (barely). Perhaps you would like to pay the tuition so my involvement with my child’s education will meet your approval?

    I get your point but you are going over the line to accuse people like me of any kind of child abuse based on the little knowledge you have of me (us). I’m involved with my boy’s education, he’s a first grader with a third-grade reading level and his math skills might make your head spin. He also knows a little about what constitutes freedom and is proud to be an American. And guess what? His teacher and I interact a lot and she knows well that I’d have something to say about any kind of nonsense such as what happened to these boys.

    So please keep your broad brush away from us.

    As for the topic directly: Last I checked California was in the United States, and we don’t celebrate Mexican holidays here. No one will ever tell me my child cannot wear the flag of his own country IN his own country.

  67. What? Twilight Zone.

  68. Well, at least it’s nice to see the Mexican students admit that they essentially don’t regard themselves as Americans.

    It reminds me of the incident a few years back, of Mexicans in a sport stadium booing like mad when the Star-Spangled Banner was played. And the stadium was here in the U.S.A.

  69. I’m sure at any moment that Obie will issue a proclamation about those administrators acting stupidly…

    I’m waiting…

    still waiting…

    still waiting…

  70. Segregated field trips and only Mexican flags allowed at public schools. If this is not the handbasket to hell for the American culture I don’t know what more proof you need.

  71. Sounds like its time for another game of “sue the district”.

  72. Really, is this not america for an american to be ridiculed for wearing the flag is to much for me..if the mexicans are so offended by this they can take there asses back to mexico..The last time i checked this is AMERICA…not mexico

  73. TASS #57

    Oh, I wasn’t speaking to your comment although Irish-Americans are part of it.. Irish IN America dammit. ;) I could call myself a French-Irish-English-Belgian-Cherokee-American as all of that and probably more is in my background but bottom line I’m just American like you. And btw there are NO American-Mexicans as Mexico makes it really difficult to become a citizen there.. as if anyone would want to be.

  76. This total crap. They should not have been harassed or even bothered. I am sorry but this is America, not Mexico. Our Flag is not something that should be hidden just to make a small group happy. Telling them to do other wise is wrong. The principle and the rest of the staff who made the choice to make asses of them selves need to be fired.

    Is Cinco de Mayo an American Holiday? Wait nope it’s not. The shirts were not an issue, and the issue is how worried people are about up setting others. Get over it, how about we stop playing favorites. The only Holidays that should be observed by schools are official US holidays, not something that is being done only to show that we can be nice and friendly to others.

  77. I grew up in Texas, and Cinco de Mayo has always been a big deal with the Mexican families, and people would gather in the parks or at homes for barbeque. If it fell on a school day, the kids would be out, celebrating with their families.

    So I don’t understand why it would even be an issue in San Francisco — with no Mexican kids in school, why would anybody care?

    Also, there is no conflict between Cinco de Mayo and the US. Cinco de Mayo is an independence holiday, a day to celebrate freedom, a day when Mexicans celebrate something we all have in common. I’m used to seeing BOTH flags flying on that day, along with a lot of balloons and ribbons.

    It sound to me like the school system is determined to divide our peoples, and should be removed from any job dealing with the public.

  78. Cinco de Mayo has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the UNITED STATES and nothing to do with LATINO AMERICANS you idiots.

    The only country it concerns is MEXICO, you know the country colonized by the Spanish which has been a hellhole of corruption, strife and misery for well over 300 years. So what exactly are these idiots celebrating? The spreading of their squalor and uncivility to this country? Perhaps someone should educate them that their parents fled like hell from the misery which they so long to embrace.

    Instead we get a racist idiot Assistant Prinicipal targeting the only intelligent kids who are smart enough to celebrate the country to which all these idiots have come for a new way of life.

  79. As far as I can tell from this story, no objection whatsoever came from any of the students, Mexican or otherwise.

    This story has nothing to do with any bad behavior by Mexicans. Furthermore, the group that supports illegal immigration, La Raza, does its thing on May Day, not Cinco de Mayo, in part because the Mexicans won’t tolerate it.

    This story is not about Mexicans. It’s about a tin-plated dictator bullying kids for no good reason.

  80. I don’t celebrate foreign holidays, especially those of a country that treats its’ citizens so poorly that they flee. It’s a mystery to me why Mexicans are so fond of Mexico. If Mexico was so great then they would be there. It’s funny that there isn’t a big fuss over their Independence Day, but rather a minor battle. How ’bout getting the Mexicans down south to celebrate the Battle of Picacho Peak, or better yet, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

  81. If they are so proud of this holiday, then they can just go to Mexico and celebrate it there. For the student that said that it is disrespectful for someone to wear a Mexican flag on July 4th, she should be made aware that usually schools are out on July 4th and in any case, if the inverse would have been done, their “rights” would have been respected.

    Furthermore, they are in America, not Mexico and they should behave like Americans. Bunch of weenies.

    As far as I can tell from this story, no objection whatsoever came from any of the students, Mexican or otherwise.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I’ve been listening to sound bites on radio talk shows. One Mexican girl stated that “they(the boys) OWE us an apology…this is OUR day”, another boy went on to state that this “is OUR celebration of independence! NO ONE should TAKE OUR DAY from us”. If you go to this schools website you will see that the majority of the students are Mexican. They do have a problem with US. I hope that the parents of these boys stick to their guns and do not issue an apology to the school or the Mexican community there.
  83. So, tell me in which countries outside the US do US citizens legally hold block parties and set off fireworks on July 4? None of them? That’s what I thought.
    Like Valerie, I’d grown used to the big Cinco de Mayo celebrations held in Texas. Having stopped simply accepting it as “the way it is” and having given it some thought, I think celebrating the independence of Mexico in the US is a load of BS. What significance does Mexico’s independence from Spain 300 years ago have for Mexicans who’ve opted to leave Mexico for the US? If their Mexican citizenship and Mexico’s independence are so damned important to them, then they should high-tail their butts back to Mexico.
    At this time in US history, with an anti-American usurper squatting in the White House, aiding and abetting our enemies as he alienates our friends and allies, allegience to the US by her citizens, and even by illegal immigrants currently on her soil, is more important than ever before.
    PS: If I were an illegal immigrant from Mexico here in the US today, I’d stand shoulder-to-shoulder with US citizens, declare my love for the US while saying adios to Mexico, and call anyone against her my enemy because any fool (even this one) can see that that would be the quickest, easiest way to be welcomed into the fold. Besides, if the US isn’t grasped from the hands of her enemies within before it’s too late, may as well head back to Mexico as there won’t be any damned benefit in staying.
  84. This holiday is NOT celebrated in Mexico, except perhaps in Puebla. It is NOT Mexican Independence Day, which is Sept. 16. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the defeat of the French in the city of Puebla, Mexico. It is a minor event to most of Mexico as they don’t celebrate it.
  85. Francesca #94 – Even less reason that it should be celebrated in the US.
  86. The left often likes to protray the right as xenophobic racists because we sometimes criticize the lack of patriotism shown by most immigrants these days. Too bad it’s the truth. When my ancestors came here in the early 1900s they changed their last name to sound more American, they learned English as quickly as possible and did everything they could to blend into American society. They also raised their kids to fit in with their new country. The only thing they preserved from their old country of origin was some of the food and house decorations like old metal tea spoons, wooden shoes and pictures of windmills that were part of traditional Dutch culture. They didn’t try to force their native language on their American neighbors or protest for the right to celebrate Dutch holidays at schools. They didn’t demand that police officers and teachers speak Dutch. They didn’t demand food labels be in Dutch. They didn’t demand people press 1 for Dutch and 2 for English. They became friggin’ Americans and left the old world behind. Today’s immigrants are so freaking disrespectful and hostile that it’s freaking ridiculous. The real xenophobic racists are the ultra-nationalist immigrants who come to our country in droves now. Usually illegally. I love how the left decries supposed Western cultural imperialism and celebrates 3rd world natives violently fending off the encroachment of foreign influences like those “evil” Western human rights and modern technology that raises standards of living. Yet at the same time they celebrate the destruction of our own native culture and denounce anyone who tries to preserve it as evil neo-nazis. Enough is enough. We need to send these commi leftist idiots back to Russia, China, North Korea and Cuba where they belong.
Our name was changed to blend into society. We don’t hyphenate our allegiance or our ancestory. To those that do – STOP! You are a violator of what’s right in the United State of America. Come and join us – Legally – but leave your home country’s flag and allegiance there because you are coming to the United States to flee your current situation. You are not coming here to spread your former country’s presence – they aren’t supporting you.
All I can say, is to ask yourself who you want to be under in times like this and stand proud because if you’re not under God then your going down under. I hope these five kids and their parents take legal action and will inspire others to stand up for their rights. God be with us all.
  91. my kids are chicanos, meaning born here. for example if kids had school around the 4th of july holiday and i sent my kids with mexican flags wouldnt that be considered disrespect? my point is everyone should respect ethnic holidays wether they agree or not. personally i am surprised they didnt get a beat down from kids celebrating the holiday. have anice day
  93. America is the land of the free and that flag has flown through every war, injustice, prejudice, and terrorist threat. The American flags belongs to the American civilians and those kids was in an American school on American soil. So if you think that beautiful flag is indescent then pick another country that is not so proud of it’s heritage. We love our flag and it stands for millions of soldiers that have died to defend that soil that you call in indescent in. How dare you tell those children that about the flag in the country you live in. That school needs reform and some people need to relearn the country where they live. Man what is America coming to?
  94. Linda, why should we care if someone wears a Mexican flag shirt on 4th of July? This is America and people can wear what they want. Do you understand this? It’s not about separating things according to dates and race. We are Americans and there is NO date in all of the year in which our right to free speech goes underground.
  95. Newton has it right, and I would guess the Principal at the school has recently learned that cinci de mayo is no major Mexican holiday. Cinco de Mayo is a huge USA holiday that everyone seems tobrhibk is sonethink like Nexican Independence. Go ask 10 people what Conco de Mayo represents… You might get 5 answers.
    I’d love to know what that Principal thought Cinco de Mayo was all about…
