Unions hit the jackpot this past year thanks to the radical dems in charge of Washington.
They made off with $10 billion in the Obamacare bill.
Union bosses who have mismanaged benefits for their own members are poised to receive a $10 billion bailout from U.S. taxpayers in the form of a “reinsurance program” that has been folded into the healthcare bill, according to the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI).
Now, they’ll return the favor.
Unions will spend over $100 million to keep the democrats in charge of Washington DC.
The Hill reported:
At least two influential unions will spend close to $100 million on the 2010 election, with most of those funds going to protect incumbents.
Union officials told The Hill they plan to help endangered members — particularly freshmen — who made politically difficult votes in a year during which an anti-incumbent mood has filled the country.
And the number will be even higher since the AFL-CIO declined to give its figures.
While the labor movement has displayed an aggressive tack in Democratic primaries, including supporting some challengers over incumbents, it remains concerned about the party retaining its congressional majorities.
As a result, it plans an enormous spending spree to help ensure Democratic control of Congress.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) plans to spend in excess of $50 million during the 2010 campaign, part of which will fund “a massive incumbent protection program,” according to Gerry McEntee, president of the union.
AFSCME spent roughly $67 million on its political activities in 2008. But the $50 million slated for the 2010 elections is the largest expenditure the union will make in a midterm election, according to union officials. The money will go to help defend the union’s top tier of eight Senate seats and 34 House members.
“We have got to protect the incumbency in the House. We have got to protect the incumbency in the Senate,” McEntee said. “It is going to be hard. Those tea-baggers are out there. There is an anti-incumbency mood out there.”
…The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) plans to spend $44 million in total on its 2010 election program. The union spent $85 million on its 2008 campaign, according to union officials.
For the first time ever this past year more union employees now work in the government than private sector.
Obama also put a former SEIU bigwig in charge of creating manufacturing jobs.
We all know how well that’s worked out.

I wonder how many actual union members like the idea of their money funding the next election?

Union members are on the screwed list along with the rest of us. Once they had well paid jobs — now they will be Obama’s paid enforcers at demonstrations and riots.
Ladue Pundit commented:
Exactly where are these unions finding this kind of cash? Every time you turn around there’s a union pension plan on the skids. I guess they’re skimming from the dues which means more state should become “right to work” states.
The constitution allows us to associate freely. Why should workers have a paid intermediary (paid=extorted) between them and their employer?

And Obama has the breathtaking gall to criticize the Supreme Court for allowing business to contribute to politics?

Good. Keep spending that Union money. It just leads to the demise of Uniosn that much quicker.

If they need a bailout, how do they have money to support LIBTARD campaigns?

SEIU is a Communist Organization:

Let me see if I understand. Obama vilifies the band and insurance companies that get bailouts, but not the Auto Unions nor SEIU.
Obama needs to be removed.
Ladue Pundit commented:
gus, you are correct about the removal of Obama. Even if he’s a lame duck, he’ll be issuing exec orders. He’s the most corrupt president, ever.

Jim, this is an excellent choice of a news story to highlight.
Read this whole story on “The Hill” website everyone.
These hundreds of millions of dollars being spent by the Unions, to “protect” the Democrats that voted for Obamacare, is THE reason it is so hard to get America back on the right track.
There is no way the GOP and conservatives are going to change what the leaders of the unions, and other Democrat/Liberal/Progressive organizations do. They are as stuck-in-their-beliefs as radical feminists are. Even the gays, and minority voter blocs are more open-minded to conservatives and Republicans than these dangerous groups.
The only way to counter these leftist organizations is to EDUCATE the American people on what their agendas are really about.
Conservatives campaigns need to research the union’s Go-Global connections, and start aggressively educating their constituents about how they are bankrolling the democrat’s campaigns.
The GOP also needs to better educate union members on how the union leadership’s agendas are bringing down America.
The GOP needs to break down the union’s over-simplied slogans like “workers rights”, and “protects jobs”, and “protecting families”, and then educate the American people about what they are really doing to our economic future.
- this is what’s chanted, and force-fed over and over to these groups. Many of these members have no idea of the Marxist and Communist roots, and Global agendas of their leaders. They only see in tunnel vision and short-sight by way of their paychecks.
- how are these union members going to keep getting these paychecks if they keep electing democrats that are enacting policies that are destroying America???
Our government is not serving the people when corporations bankroll and bribe those that they elect. How can our government be serving the people if the unions are doing the same thing, by bankrolling and bribing the Democrats?
The purpose of unions should be to help provide workers with a reasonably safe work environment, a commensurate wage, and protections from being fired by bosses on a personal vendetta, against a worker they personally dislike.
The purpose of unions should not be controlling our government. If we cannot outlaw corporations and unions spending millions on campaigns, then we need to better educate the American people on the truth.
NOT all union members have this attitude and are only members because their job requires it. The members that do have this attitude need to decide which side they are on.
The way I see it, union members need to decide which is more important: choosing themselves with their fat paychecks, pensions, and health benefits…or preserving the United States of America for their children and grand-children.
Which is it?
Ladue Pundit commented:
There’s a distinction between union labor: skilled trades and the SEIU paper shufflers and janitors.
I have a couple of family members in unionized electrical and carpentry trades. They did not vote for Obama. They must join a union as a condition of employment. Notice how the unions here decide what is best for the employer and employee. If you do not want to be a union member, the employer cannot hire you, nor can you be hired.
Something is very wrong with this. To make matters worse, one relative paid $600 to be initiated into a union, only to learn later that illegals were allowed in with the fee waived.
Democrats, unions, and the Communist & Socialist Workers Parties are the Devil’s Triangle. Unions must be broken; they are not a choice but a mandate to too many workers. And government workers at any level should be barred from unionizing. What the hell does an office worker need in a union?

The Daily Caller has a story that adds to the whole unions-are-bankrolling-democrats, and democrats-are-protecting-unions-rights-to-bankroll-them:
http://dailycaller.com/2010/05/21/republicans-claim-campaign-finance-amendment-favors-unions/
Basically, the GOP is calling out the democrats for falsely trying to convey to the American public, that the dems are wanting to stop unions from contributing to political campaigns.
The Democrats have this bill called the “Disclosure Act”, that they are wanting to amend campaign finance laws with.
I’ve read the bill:
http://vanhollen.house.gov/UploadedFiles/DISCLOSE_Act.pdf
the word “corporation” was mentioned 26 times
the word “union” was mentioned only once.
The “one-time” that unions are mentioned in the beginning of the bill makes it sound like the bill is going to go after unions, but then the rest of the bill focuses on corporations.
Again, 26 times corporations were mentioned.
unions mentioned once.
I agree that this is a farce, and that the democrats will NEVER try to stop the unions from bankrolling them. They are only interested in stopping corporations from bankrolling elections.
The democrats know that corporations bankroll democrats and republicans, but that the unions only bankroll the democrats.
Wake up America!

Robert commented:
There is a coercive factor involved in belonging to an employment union. In many instances, union membership is required in order to obtain or keep the job. Then union dues are automatically deducted from the employees paycheck.
When the union then supports a specific political position or candidate, the employees are effectively forced to support that position, since their money is being used to advocate that position. Because of this circumstance, unions should not be allowed to participate in political activities.
One difference between union political participation and corporate political participation is the mandatory aspect. The money spent by corporations comes from corporate profits, it is not withdrawn from employees’ paychecks.
In the case of government sector unions, federal money which pays the employees and comes from taxpayers, is then used for a certain political advocacy.
This should be illegal.
Also government employee unions represent the employees against the public interest. We are now seeing that public pension benefits are not sufficiently funded, and that taxpayers are being asked to pick up a tremendous tab, when their own retirement benefits are in doubt.
For these reasons government employee unions should themselves be illegal.
