Here was another gem from today’s Holder hearing…
Obama’s Attorney General admitted during his hearing with the House Judiciary Committee that he has not read the 10 page Arizona immigration bill even though he has repeatedly spoken out against it in recent public outings.
Sean Hannity played the video:
What a disgrace.
FOX News reported:
Despite repeatedly voicing concerns about Arizona’s new immigration enforcement law in recent weeks and threatening to challenge it, Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday he has not yet read the law — which is only 10 pages long.
“I have not had a chance to — I’ve glanced at it,” Holder said at a House Judiciary Committee hearing when asked had he read the state law cracking down on illegal immigrants.
Holder told reporters last month that he fears the new law is subject to abuse and that the Justice Department and the Homeland Security Department are in the midst of conducting a review.
The Arizona law requires local and state law enforcement to question people about their immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the country illegally, and makes it a state crime to be in the United States illegally.

This pattern of not reading a bill and/or law is systemic for Democrats.

For not having read the bill, what makes Holder any different from any other liberal member of congress?

It is unbelievable to the utmost that the top legal administrator hasn’t even look at a 10-page law regarding a matter of national security, to which he has extensively commented on.
If someone told me this scenario was to play out, I wouldn’t bet on such an outcome in a million years.

Does anyone read what the MSM says and not laugh out loud?! The first sentence is not true – the law clearly states that the law enforcement can only request a person’s information WHEN ALREADY STOPPED FOR ANOTHER LEGAL ACTION, and ONLY IF there is enough other evidence to question the person; the immigration status check will be done by federal immigration, then IF the person(s) warrants, they are turned over to federal immigration. Read the bill, Fox!
The second sentence is an oxyMORON: it is ALREADY illegal for an “illegal immigrant” to be in Arizona – or anywhere else in the US! The law simply allows the federal laws to be enforced by Arizona police.
Read the bill, people! Stop spreading misinformation, Fox!! You, of all, should be getting the story straight; after all, “fair and balanced” is only possible when the information reported is TRUE and CORRECT!
Oh, and of course Holder hasn’t read the AZ law – that would make his boss look like the boob he is, since he hasn’t read it, either! Why should the lower-level shlubs read the bill when the POTUS doesn’t bother?!

Most of you know I disagree with the law. Not the intent, Arizona has to do something as they are wedged against another country in the midst of a civil war a al Columbia in the 80′s. Their people are getting hurt and killed.
However, instead of hammering the demand side, the politicians and government lawyers tried to get cute with the “writing” of the law.
This will result in…well…. what you are seeing happening now. I read the law and immediately saw the potential problems not only politically but in the execution of the law when it hits the streets. Had they limited the law to holding employers accountable criminally and cutting off any state funds (including healthcare, schooling and food stamps for example) they would have dried up a supply and a demand. But they tried to be thread a needle, and missed.
If you go to my website and search for “Arizona” you will get the list of article I did on this exposing the problems with the actual implementation of it. http://www.truthandcommonsense.com
Here are a few-
This will explain what the cops will face in reality when trying to work the law.

This one talks about profiling and how we use it all the time to do our jobs better, but always walk a razor’s edge when doing it. The law will now put a spotlight on the technique and will trap many good cops into civil lawsuits.
http://truthandcommonsense.com/2010/04/25/telling-the-story-of-blue-haired-club-footed-midgets-and-stopping-a-known-drug-dealers/
This one explains why on its face the law is racist. Not because it was designed that way, but because it was designed to protect businesses in Arizona from criminal liability and THAT creates the whiff of racism that Sharpton, Holder and the rest will jump all over.

As I have said before, this law was created by moderately talented government lawyers with the intent to “out lawyer” the other lawyers that will challenge this law. They knew this was coming. I don’t think they knew HOW bad it was going to get.
Think for a second before we all knee jerk in defense of Arizona’s government. They may have “knee jerked” in response to the pressure they were getting. But they did not do the right thing. They protected their political donor base from law enforcement’s efforts to stop illegal employment. Shame on them.
If it is so bad, why the half steps? This is like carbon tax and cap and trade in that sense. The world is coming to an end if we don’t do something to stop carbon, BUT if you are willing to pay an extra tax you can keep polluting? Allowing no penalty for the employment of an illegal is a sham.
Worse, another piece of reality is this. In general at the local and state level the quality and talent of the lawyers involved are, to be nice, middle of the graduating class- so to speak. The people they will face in federal court, while defending the monetary and physical freedom of the police officer sued, are the ones who graduated at the TOP of their class, usually from Harvard and such places.
It is like a good NCAA II college team going up against the Patriots circa 2003 or the Pittsburgh Steelers from the seventies.
And here is the kicker- do you know who may very well end up in the Stacy Koon memorial upper bunk at a federal prison? The politicians? No…. The government lawyers who wrote the law? OH heck nooo… The judge? No, silly. The illegals? No, they’ll be rich. Who does that leave?? Yep, the only ones out there really trying to implement a politically driven piece of legislation that was so perfect in its original writing that two weeks after it was put into place, they were already redoing sections of it. And like one poster pointed out, it is ONLY ten pages long. Who is that?
The poor cops. Things like this always lands on them…with both feet.

Good going, FOX!
Finally, finally, somebody’s starting to ask the right questions!
It is the job of the Attorney General, or for that matter, any lawyer commenting on the effects of a law, to at least read the pertinent parts very, very carefully.

Holder isn’t even curious enough to read a short piece of legislation that relates to an issue of national importance and security.
By commenting on the issue without performing minimal research, he is guilty of dereliction of duty.

Here is an article on the Oklahoma law from CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/02/oklahoma.immigration/
Here is the key passage-
—
“I’m convinced illegal aliens will not come to Oklahoma, or any other state, if there are no jobs waiting for them.” said state Rep. Randy Terrill, a Republican and the law’s author.
“They will not stay here if there are not taxpayer subsidies and they certainly won’t stay here if they ever encounter one of our fine state and local law enforcement officials,” he added. “They’ll be physically detained — until they’re deported.”
The new law restricts the ability of illegal immigrants to obtain government IDs or public assistance. It also gives police authority to check the immigration status of anyone arrested, which can lead to deportations.
It doesn’t stop at illegal immigrants. The law also makes it a felony for U.S. citizens to knowingly provide shelter, transportation or employment to illegal immigrants.
—
This is what we call in police work a “DUUUHHH!” moment. You think? You think they would stop coming if there are no jobs and no public programs to take advantage of?
Read the Arizona law and notice the differences.
Here is another key provision in the Oklahoma law. An employee can sue the employer if they are fired and an illegal is in their position.
http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectID=11&articleID=071121_1_A9_hSubc84072
“Mike Jones, owner of ML Jones Acoustics Inc., said after the meeting that his business has not yet been affected by the new law but that many business owners, including himself, are mostly concerned about one section of it.
That section states that an American citizen who is fired from a company can file a discrimination lawsuit if the company retains an illegal immigrant “who the employing entity knows, or reasonably should have known, is an unauthorized alien hired after Balance = 20.0 pts July 1, 2008, and who is working in Oklahoma in a job category that requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility” as the fired employee.
“That is the most destructive part of House Bill 1804″ for employers, Jones said. “We most certainly see it as a problem.”
Jones also said he thinks businesses are being made to do the federal government’s job of verifying immigration status.”
Boo hoo Mr. Jones if you are making a greater profit by hiring illegals and firing citizens you should be sued. Isn’t that the point of it all?

Did all of them just get passed from one grade to the next without ever learning how to read? No wonder they hate Bush’s ‘no child left behind’ program, that would have meant that they would have needed to learn to read while still in school.” And we now have a full congress of these idiots and most of Bambi’s staff is in the same category.
