Pelosi says there’s no doubt the democrats will keep the House.
Nancy Pelosi announced yesterday that there are over 200 House democrats who will be reelected easily and the democrats will keep control of the House.
The Hill reported:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a message for Republicans this fall: Bring it on.
A buoyant Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday basked in the Democrats’ special-election triumph while bashing Republicans and expressing confidence that her party will retain control of the House.
In an interview with The Hill, the Speaker said it was very important to her that Democrats retain the late Rep. John Murtha’s (D-Pa.) seat, which they did Tuesday night.
Pelosi, who was very close with Murtha, said Republicans once again tried to nationalize an election by way of an “anti-Obama, anti-Pelosi” message.
“It didn’t work,” Pelosi said, calling the strategy Republicans have employed regularly in recent years “predictable.”
Asked about House Minority Leader John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) recent claim that there are 100 House seats in play, Pelosi responded, “Let him think that.”
She said there are “more than 200” House Democrats who will be reelected “easily,” but cautioned that she never underestimates her opponents.

Funny, I’ve seen lots of Tea Partiers asking FOR something. And I see a huge majority, including what must be a sizeable number of legal hispanic immigrants, favoring the new Arizona laws, provided they have an accurate description of the content.
There is opportunity here, because the big middle of this country is not interested in having a radical agenda shoved down its throat.
So, it’s not won, yet. But people are definitely starting to ask the right questions, and learn how to find workable answers.
The big question is whether the candidates can be found to run for office.

Bill Mitchell: I agree. Some conservative pundits have already thrown in the towel based on that race. It was a special election in a district who kept voting for Murtha, someone who treated them with disdain. Critz ran on the Republican platform essentially and still promised them their precious pork. Plus, many D voters are die-hard Dems. No one should have ever counted on the R winning. Conservatives need to turn out in droves in November. Also, the RNC needs to grow a pair and be vigilant about the potential for voter fraud.

One has to wonder if she isn’t right. If the payment plans of the DNC will be more powerful than we all imagine.
It is ironic, as this Democrat who won Murtha’s old seat ran against Obama – Pelosi, and we all know it was just more lies. Critz is an ex Murtha staffer, and is in deep with the corruption of the Democratic Party Machine.
It is regretful, and rather disgusting, to think of how mindless this Congressional District – or dependent on Governmental Pork – has become.
However, Conservatives should really take some serious stock on their efforts, for they have not been empowering in real terms for many years.
Perhaps the ‘echo’ existence is not helping matters. We see evidence of hype of certain Celebrities, etc., and a constant bashing of the GOP in an unfair manner. No one wants to see another enormous flop like that last Maverick General Election effort – we must be more objective, honest, reasoned, etc.
We have to do better, and Partisan strongholds like this disastrous ‘Murtha Denial’ must be challenged far more seriously.
2010 is it. We have to prove Nancy Pelosi wrong, or we are all sunk – perhaps this Nation will never recover from the Democratic Partisan disaster.

The “No” circle (Austria should remain independent) was small, tiny, really, really, really, really small.
The “Yes” circle was HUGE.
Voting went like this: you went to the polling station and there the responsible SA guy would tell you “This is where you make the cross”, pointing at the HUGE “Yes” circle. You were supposed to cast your vote right in front of him and all the other people present. Some of these people were SA stormtroopers.
Some people dared to vote “No”.
They were quickly beaten up by the present SA stormtroopers.
Of course Hitler won this “election” in a landslide.

I agree. If we are to continue our way of life, they will have to go their way, and we ours. Just let them try to stop us. I don’t give a darn what any court says either. They are not going to force their way of life on us. We will have to operate as an independent nation. I don’t want to have my wages stolen, or my children enslaved to this criminal regime. But the GOP was fooled, and lost on two fronts. They didn’t have a platform that differed from the democrat and the Bill Russell situation was poorly handled. Let us consider PA-12 for a moment, shall we?
The district is 64%-36% Democrat. A total of 134,000 votes were cast in the PA-12 special election.
Based on party identification, Burns should have lost by a count of approximately 91K to 52K. In reality, he lost 71K to 61K. He reduced a 35K R-D primary-election vote deficit to a 10K R-D general-election vote deficit. That’s a 25K vote swing.
That means that a 64%-36% D district voted 53%-45% D. (Let’s give Critz the 2% Lib candidate vote. The district then voted 55%-45% D.)
So, the Republican candidate garnered 9% higher ballot than party affiliation. The Democrat candidate garnered 9% lower ballot than party affiliation.
That’s an 18% swing in the favor of the Republican candidate – in one of the bluest-of-blue congressional districts.
So, Frau Pelosi: how many of your sitting Democrat Representatives can survive an 18% swing? How many can survive sloughing 25K votes?
Oh, and bear in mind: uber-Lib Critz ran on a platform that practically sprinted to Obama’s right. He couldn’t get away from Obama’s agenda fast enough.
Yeah, that all sounds like it bodes well for your chances this November. Drink some more of your own Kool-aid, and let us know how that works out for you.

Rick, they do not come across with their alternatives. At least they don’t seem to do so with any force. You can’t just run on “I’m not them,” because the next question is, “Then who ARE you?” Being the Anti-Uhbama is not enough. The have to lay out the alternative vision (version?) of government they want to put into play so that the voters have something to vote FOR.
Convervatives know what that vision is. Reagan laid the pattern. The problem is that the public has an attention span measured in minutes so you have to spell it out for them. Deja Vu all over again. (sorry Yogi)

Actually, there are 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
There are 100 U.S. Senate seats, and the Vice President of the United States is the President of the Senate and only votes to break a Senate tie.
Technically, there are currently 5 extra Delegate members of the House, and 1 Resident Commissioner member of the House, but they are not voting seats.
But I agree with your premise in that if the Democrats ONLY win 200 of the 435 seats, that means that the Republicans will go from there current number of 177 seats, to 235 seats, which is a pickup of 58 seats, which will mean that Nancy Pelosi has to hand the Speaker gavel over to the Republican John Boehner.
I believe Pelosi is wrong about the Democrats keeping the House in November, and she knows it too.
She is either lying, or so brainwashed by the anti-Bush wave of the last 8 years, that she is out of touch with reality. She is definitely the most insidious Progressive to ever slip into power, as the Speaker.
The Tea Party patriots and the GOP need to better educate the American people on how corrupt the unions have become, if they want to seal-the-deal on flipping Congress in November.
Every election the GOP has lost so far is due to the entrenched attitudes of generational union pockets around the USA, that do not understand how dire of a situation that the United States of America is in. They only care about their union paychecks and benefits. They don’t understand that their union bosses, along with all of the Democrats that they vote for, are going “Global” with our economy, which will undermine their children’s future, as well as their own union jobs.
NOT all union members have this attitude and are only members because their job requires it. The members that do have this attitude need to decide which side they are on.

I hear talks about Republican this, Democrat that. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people have missed the object lesson of these Midterm primaries.
People need to realize that voters aren’t voting for the Republican Party. They are voting for lower taxes, smaller government, individual liberty, and personal responsiblity and accountablity from our elected officials: Something that we aren’t getting from the current adminstration. They are voting against corruption, big government, and careerist incumbent oligarchs and their gerrymandered fiefdom who feel by virtue of the seat they possess in Congress they can lord of their subjects and treat them as serfs. Republicans are getting elected, only because their party has chosen to align themselves with that platform, insofar as that it garners votes and mobilizes the base. Only time can tell if the RNC actually gets it or not. If a Democrat is willling to offer those positions and then he or she will be elected as well regardless of political affilitiation. We tend to forget that Republicans are just as much the victims as the Democrats are from voter wrath. Go ask Charlie Crist, Mitch McConnell, McCain, Mike Steele. The Democrats are at a greater loss only because they’ve wedded themselves to some pro-tax, anti-1st admendment, anti-2nd admentment, anti-enterpreneur, socialist agenda and are too close-minded to see the world outside of their narrow little box. Which would be fine, provided thats what the voters want. But they don’t want that, and the Dems are too pig-headed and narrow-minded to realize this.
But the few that do, like Critz, can and will get elected. People need to stop thinking about collectivist organizations like political parties and focus on what matters, the individual and his/her political beliefs, which are transcedant.
The sooner we bring politics down to the individual level and listen to the voters as opposed to deriding them, the better off we will be as a nation and a country. We need to hold all leaders accountable and speak truth to the powers that be, and what greater way to do so than by exercising our greatest right of all, the right to vote.
