The peaceful leftists and pro-Hamas thugs were caught on film beating the Israeli soldiers with pipes, metal rods and chairs.

May 31, 2010 — Video taken by IDF naval boat shows the passengers of the
Mavi Marmara, one of the ships in the ‘Free Gaza’ Flotilla, violently
attacking IDF soldiers who were trying to board the ship after having sent
repeated requests for the boat to change course.Large groups of passengers surrounded soldiers and beat them with metal
poles and chairs, and threw one soldier over the side of the ship. Some
passengers grabbed pistols from the IDF soldiers and opened fire. As a
result of the attacks, seven IDF soldiers were injured, and nine of the
passengers were killed.The ‘Free Gaza’ Flotilla had publicly insisted on their non-violent
intentions, however their violent attack on the IDF soldiers was clearly
premeditated. They had knives, metal rods, firebombs and other items ready
to use.

Israel, the Flotilla and International Waters
Among the various statements of outrage targeted at Israel, many point to Israel’s confronting the “flotilla” ships in international waters as a sign of Israel’s guilt.
I direct your attention to the San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea. Specifically, paragraph 67-68:
67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:
(a) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;
(b) engage in belligerent acts on behalf of the enemy;<
(c) act as auxiliaries to the enemy s armed forces;
(d) are incorporated into or assist the enemy s intelligence system;
(e) sail under convoy of enemy warships or military aircraft; or
(f) otherwise make an effective contribution to the enemy s military action, e.g., by carrying military materials, and it is not feasible for the attacking forces to first place passengers and crew in a place of safety. Unless circumstances do not permit, they are to be given a warning, so that they can re-route, off-load, or take other precautions.
So these were ostensibly merchant vessels who were flying the flags of neutral states (since Turkey and Greece have not declared that they officially side with Hamas in their war for Israel's destruction). However, there was definitely reasonable grounds to believe that they were carrying contraband and breaching a blockade (since that was their very public, stated intention). After receiving prior warning (see YouTube video), they intentionally refused to stop (I heard that they just radioed back curses in Arabic and English), and they quite clearly resisted visit, search or capture….(continue reading at the linked title at the top of my post).

THe blockade is expressly to prevent WEAPONS from being landed at Gaza beaches and port.
ALL Humanitarian aid is handled by the United Nations office for GAZA. ALL aid given by countries, NGOs and private citizens is handled thru the UN office. They have secretaries, telephones, website, warehouses, office hours. They are very busy, they process A LOT every day.
There is NO VALID reason to run ANY LEGITIMATE aid or donation thru the naval blockade. ZERO.

The flotilla was organized by the Free Gaza Movement, a coalition of leftist human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups engaged in attempts to break a blockade imposed by Israel on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
Ayers, Dohrn and Evans’ Code Pink have led several recent Free Gaza Movement initiatives, including attempted marches into the Gaza Strip. Dorhn was in the Middle East just last month on behalf of the movement.
Ayers and Dohrn were close associates for years with President Obama, while Evans was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign.

It should be noted, there wasn’t any trouble on the other five ships boarded, so what was the difference? The difference was that the commandoes were attacked when they tried to board that one particular ship. Why didn’t the people on the other ships feel the need to beat the commandoes?

The Israelis were following international maritime procedure with a standard, announced boarding of a non-cooperating vessel, and the ship passengers/crew attacked them. Copious video proof of it.

I had a REALLY bad feeling, even before the actual incident occured, as soon as I heard the “humanitarian aid” convoy was being called a “flotilla.”
What the organizers of the “flotilla” intended to happen, happened exactly the way they wanted it to. The instant protests and press releases are ample proof of that.
This was a trap. Israel walked right into it.

Coincidentally, for a different reason, I’d been reading the Israeli newspapers all week and the problem of the arriving flotilla has been in their news for days BEFORE this happened. It might be a surprise to American audiences, but the refusal of the flotilla to abide by Israeli instructions, the directing of the flotilla to deposit any “humanitarian aid deliveries” at the correct depot and the back and forth communications has been in the news and going on for several days.
It isn’t about “aid” or “humanitarian” it was all “bait” and “attack.” About lying and nasty.

Just some random thoughts … You know, I can accept that Israel’s enemies lie thru their teeth. It’s war. But what makes me grind my teeth are the useful idiots, bratty tools and media narcissists who enable it, who sell out everything and everyone’s shared production and sacrifice that has made their lives comfortable.

Israel is NOT blocking Gaza, because it simply can’t block Gaza completely.
Why?
Because Gaza also shares borders with Egypt. The ships could have gone to Egypt and unload there. Or they could have gone to Israel. From either location any aid could have been transported to Gaza. Israel even offered to do that.
This “flotilla” only had one purpose: provoke Israel.
