As if having their president bash our laws in front of the US Congress was not insulting enough…
Now the Mexican government in Sonora is running threatening ads in Arizona newspapers.
Doug Powers reported this at Michelle Malkin‘s blog.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio tweeted about this late yesterday:

From Sheriff Joe’s twitter page:
“I want the public to call 1-800-4SONORA & demand to know the meaning of this ad that was in the AZ Republic today http://twitpic.com/1ptueq”
Do they really want to start threatening American tourists?

Anyone who visits Mexico is an idiot. Yes everyone says it is safer than America but do you really want to be a statistic. Here in the US you at least know the areas to avoid, in Mexico the whole country is a free firezone. The police are as corrupt as the criminals, many times the police are the one doing the kidnappings.
Yes the Mexican people are really friendly etc etc. I’m surprise the sonora tourism office would approve such an AD.

17 more states planning Ariz. ‘illegal’ crackdown
[In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care,
17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as
federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught
by the states.
"Over the last couple days, Obama and the chief of ICE have refused to honor their oaths of office," he said. "Their constitutional requirement
is to enforce existing laws.
[..]
“Seventeen states are now filing versions of Arizona’s SB 1070, which is designed to help local police enforce America’s existing immigration laws,” ALIPAC said in a report today.
The report said numerous national and local polls indicate 60 to 81
percent of Americans support local police enforcing immigration laws.
“Our national network of activists have been working overtime trying to help the state of Arizona and the brave Arizonans who have passed this bill,” he said. “Arizona no longer stands alone and we have now documented state lawmakers filing, or announcing they will file, versions of the Arizona bill in seventeen states! We will not stop until all states are protected from invasion as required by the U.S. Constitution.”]

Personally, I think we should start boycotting items made in Mexico. However, since most of hte items we purchase today come from one of three places; China, Canada or Mexico (in addition to Taiwan), this would make life a little difficult. For example, we just changed the radiator in our vehicle, it was made in Mexico. We bought five movies from WalMart, all four DVDs were made in Mexico. For a country that says they have horrible economic conditions, we are buying a lot of items made there. If there are not jobs there, then who is making all this stuff? And if there are people their with jobs, then they are being paid slave wages, which means, they need to protest their own government, not ours.
Either way, boycott MX made items and tourism. And that includes beer and tequilla.

Not so fast. I actually think Mexico may start to feel that they aren’t driving this thing at all, but the Obama crowd is, and will drive it far far beyond Mexico’s control. Mexico’s just a cleptocracy at the moment, with drug lords. Somewhat straightforward, but if the American Socialists think border chaos will advance their radical political agenda, Mexico may find it can’t control the fire that Obama is stoking on BOTH sides of the border.
I think Mexico may regret before we do thinking Obama is actually on their side.

Al Shabaab is a terrorist group based in Somalia with links to the Somali attacks dramatized in the movie “Blackhawk Down.” A few months ago, the group announced its allegiance to Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden.

Islamic Illegal Immigrants
[Roughly 10% of the approximately 2 million Muslims in the U.S. are “illegal aliens” who may pose a homeland security risk. Some Muslim-Americans appear busy converting American Blacks to Islam, to the tune of about 250,000 converts a year. Other Muslim immigrants appear successful at gaining political clout. For example, in the State of Michigan, they got legislators there to vote for declaring Israel a terrorist state. Muslim immigrants are some of the most highly educated immigrants to America, with almost half having a bachelor’s degree. Several Muslim immigrants are political activists or radicals, and opinion polls show that a large majority are dissatisfied with U.S. policy toward the Middle East and that a significant majority believe their religion prohibits giving political allegiance to a secular government such as ours. On the other hand, there are some Muslims who do become loyal Americans and serve with distinction in the U.S. military. Suspicion of Muslim immigration (and suspected terrorism links) has been so acute as to cause serious thought be given toward putting a hold on Muslim immigration.]

Typical Liberal thinking. Can’t keep the hate impersonal, then project that thinking onto others who don’t view the world or people that way.
No one hates Mexicans, but everyone hates the situation the politicians have put everyone in, pitting Mexicans against Americans. Politicians promised work and benefits for illegals, comforts and inticements of getting the laws changed, that they haven’t accomplished, building expectations, so that’s rotten, and didn’t consult with the American People as to whether they were okay with this, because taxes have been going up, and services closing under the additonal strains, and now ignore and insult those who complain.
This situation was created, a direct result of a series of bad political actions, so there’s nothing wrong with being pissed about being dragged in deeper to it unwillingly.

(Note I did not say Mexican-American) If you are a legal US Citizen than great. This is Hispanic on Hispanic crime and I believe if you are a legal US resident, the US should protect you from criminal border incursions meant to kidnap you or your family. Many of the people causing problems in Mexico are exporting the violence to the US. Mexico had more kidnappings then Iraq and now, Phoenix, AZ is known as the kidnapping capital of the US. The violence has overflowed to the US and instead of supporting AZ to put an end to the violence, we are supporting those who cause the violence to keep to be allowed to keep causing that violence.

Mommy and Daddy cannot help you. You get in trouble, your fault or not, you are screwed. Americans are easy targets for foreigners. As the economy of the world incresingly goes to hell, so does the safety of American tourists world wide. Stay home, see America. It’s a pretty cool place.

re: [putting severed human heads up on the [lamp]posts]
hmmm, now that sounds like a familiar intimidation tactic (not that it’s anything new per se, but there has been a distinct up-tick in Mexico since 2006, they’re also using IED’s, go figure).. just don’t be surprised when, not if, they’re ordinary occurrences in the US (newsflash, Islamists are highly involved in the global drug business)..

According to the gentleman who answered the phone, only half of the ad was published on the first day. The full ad, including Arizonans swimming and having fun, was published the next two days. It was a mistake and bad timing, but not a threat to tourists or Americans in general.
viktor commented:
This ad clearly has threatening overtones. Anyone trying to say that it is merely clumsy advertising is either disingenuous or has a politcal tin ear in view of the political controversy surrounding Arizona’s recent anti-illegal immigrant law.
This business with Mexico has reached a tipping point. The Mexican Government has gotten so cocky that it has finally overplayed its hand.
The gloves are off, Mexico. You will reap what you have sowed.
After Obama, the Mexican Government is going to be the GOP’s best unintended ally next November.

i don’t think you’re not getting the other half of what i’m saying (but
hey, even when we agree we disagree, that’s nothing new for us lol)..
…..
Um. No problem… I think we’re more talking past each other than disagreeing. I’m thinking that you think my position is it should have been banned. No, that’s not what I was getting at. If I didn’t make my point, I need to articulate it better.
Commenting…It’s an ad for tourism. Ads to sell things and attract business are refused all the time (banned isn’t the correct word- that’s an attempt to limit free flows of political debate and facts) for any reason, for things as stupid as the owner of the newspaper hates the owner of the company because they used to be roommates in college.
My point was the AZ Republic knew that ad would bait Sheriff Joe and pro- SB1070 folks (the majority of citizens – of whom don’t buy the AZ Republic anymore due to their obnoxiously snotty Progressive Left bias), so I was complaining about the AZ Republic being a bit too coy, stirring the pot.
I like things in the open. Too much we have people saying one thing domestically and another internationally. I don’t like two-faced and there’s too much of it these days in the media, in politics.
As for ads – the audience reaction is everything. If an ad even inadvertently creates a negative reaction, it’s a marketing failure. Ads are supposed to evoke POSITIVE and ATTRACTIVE, not WTF???
It’s just hard to believe not a soul in the marketing structure that approved and produced this didn’t “get it.”
Mary commented:
Shame on whomever tweaked the add, had anyone of you actually seen the add? the other half says “that are looking to have a good time” and on the binoculars there are pictures of people partying on the beach. This is yet again, another campaign for bad publicity for Mexico, as if they don’t have enough troubles on their own and now this. Makes me sad really

My daughter and I are headed to Arizona in July to show our solidarity with the LEGAL citizens of that state.
We’re gonna spend money and encourage the LEGAL citizens to keep up the good fight and tell tham that over 70% of their fellow Americans in other states support their effort to keep the foreign invaders OUT!

yes, we’ve seen the ad.. “tweaked or not”, you evidently don’t get.. they
brought the trouble upon themselves, so if you’re sad, don’t blame US,
it was Mexico’s ad..
save your crocodile tears for the people of Mexico who find living in their own country to be so oppressive, they flee to the US at the risk of losing them..
save your contempt for the Mexican Government who not only finds pointing fingers at the very country who has helped it’s people most, yet neglects to reflect on it’s own immeasurable culpability..
Mexico has become the Coward capital of the world as far as i’m concerned.. they should be protesting their own government, they should be demanding better of such a rich country..
oh wait, make that yet another wanna be rich
dictator who’s supposedly their leader, hah!!
