Jesse Jackson Jr. May Endorse Republican Kirk in Illinois Senate Race

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. may shun Obama’s pal Alexi Giannoulias and endorse Republican Mark Kirk in the Illinois Senate race. Giannoulias has been in the news lately after his family’s bank was seized by the feds. Alexi Giannoulias ran for Illinois State Treasurer on his experience as vice president and senior loan officer at Chicago’s Broadway Bank.
The Sun-Times reported:

U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s friendship with fellow Rep. Mark Kirk could spell problems for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias, who hopes to win the Senate seat formerly held by President Obama.

A report on the Politico website says Jackson is flirting with not endorsing his fellow Democrat in the Senate race.

“I like Alexi Giannoulias, but I have great respect for Mark Kirk and his service to the people of Illinois,” the website on national politics quotes Jackson as saying.

Jackson and Kirk work together on the House Appropriations Committee, on which both are senior members of the subcommittee that provides foreign aid.
