EPA Moves to Crack Down on Evil American Manufacturers

The Obama Environmental Protection Agency moved this week to crack down on the evil American manufacturers and producers.
The AP reported:
The Environmental Protection Agency moved Thursday to more tightly control air pollution from large power plants, factories and oil refineries, a step to limit emissions widely blamed for global warming.
The EPA said it is completing a rule requiring large polluters to reduce the amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that they release into the air. Those emissions can boost many allergens and worsen smog, which can trigger asthma attacks and other respiratory ailments.
The rule would require companies to install better technology and improve energy efficiency whenever they build, or significantly modify, a plant.
EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said the rule applies only to large polluters such as power plants, refineries and cement production facilities that collectively are responsible for 70 percent of greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources in the United States.
Jackson said the rule sets commonsense standards that will clean the air and protect public health, while avoiding burdensome regulations that could harm farms and small and medium-sized businesses.
Of course, this surprises no one.

What are we going to do about the evil volcanos? Those are major polluters. It’s like we’re putting a bandaid on a paper cut and ignoring a severed artery. Stop the volcanos, then get back to me about the cement factories.

At a given moment in time, and I believe we are quickly approaching that moment, one must ask if the entire Obama administration is merely incompetent and naïve, or are they actually that audacious that they want to bring this entire nation down?
Nothing they are doing will help our economy to recover and everything they want to do will only make things worse. Their foreign policy has emboldened our enemies and they are hanging Israel out to dry. As our economy continues to falter, our national security is clearly placed in jeopardy. They want to legalize aliens who hate America, they have ruined our entire educational system and they have grown unionized government payrolls to unsustainable levels as they have created entitlement programs no on can afford. They are increasing taxes to high heaven and they are about to ruin the best healthcare system in the world. Clearly this is just a short list and I could go on.
What benefit do they expect to derive from destroying our economy and weakening our national security? As we sit here looking to Europe, we can clearly see how the path Obama is on has already brought down Greece – and other EU nations are soon to follow? California, New Jersey and Illinois are effectively bankrupt. Does anyone dispute these facts.
There cannot possibly be any doubt that Obama is unaware of the extent to which his policies are unsustainable. So where is this all going? Why hasn’t anyone in the MSM or even the New Media asked this simple question: If they are betting the farm on computer models for global climate change, what do their computer models say about Obama’s economic policies and why aren’t they putting those economic models out for peer review like the climate models? And I don’t believe for one moment there aren’t many computer models that project exactly what will happen economically and by when. I would bet there are many such models and they all point towards a total collapse sooner or later.
Where are they these models?

You really expect the EPA to do anything that is science-based and makes sense? 16000 pages of federal environmental regulations and “makes” and “sense” are never close together.
The EPA is rushing these bad regulations into existence. They listen only to the green groups. The hurry is to get the odious regs in place before anyone really notices. CO2 is not and never has been a pollutant.

THE number one target of this approach will be cement companies! It takes one ton of carbon to make one ton of cement.
IF these types of regulations stand, then ALL cement will be imported.

Ton carbon/ton cement….The very nature of the process of chemically converting limestone to cement releases CO2. Makes no difference where it is manufactured foreign or domestic the impact on GLOBAL issues is no different. All the EPA does is to destroy American jobs while showing a change in the data subset that means nothing overall

These people are clearly charlatans. They are putting forth environmental policies that are entirely based upon computer models for climate science. Yet, they are not willing to put forth even one computer model that reveals the economic implications of the Obama administration’s policies.
If computer models are good for making projections about climate science, they must be equally as good, if not better, for making projections about the economy.
The Obama administration needs to simultaneously show us their computer models for the economy along side their computer models for the environment to prove they are not placing us on a path towards total economic collapse.
Why is no one bringing up this serious inconsistency and making the Obama administration employ the same standards on the economy as they are on the environment?

We must admit there’s no better disguise for socialism than to paint it green and to claim that every rule you make is for “a greater good”.
The problem now is that the entire premise that environmentalism is built on has been proven false. In reality, it never existed at all.
This planet does not need “saving”: it never has and it never will.
This fact makes it all the more important that we stop electing anyone who professes a belief in AGW. It will take time to purge this ridiculous notion from the public’s mindset, but we have to do all we can now.

The way to deal with this nonsense is to defund the EPA by the US House. If the Republicans win the House in november they can do this and no other branch of government can stop them.

Well, there goes ones of the larger industries (cement production) in Nevada where I live. The company had completed all the required steps to expand before Oblabla took office but were then told they would have to start the process over from the beginning immediately after the election. Now, I suppose, they will be forced to go out of business since not only will the raw materials required be exhausted because they had to start over the permitting process but IF they were to acquire the necessary raw material, it will now be necessary to meet the new EPA standards.
Unemployment in NV is over 13% thanks to Obozo’s statement about Las Vegas and now his minions are destroying one of the larger industries in Northern Nevada. Chalk up the demise of yet another city in the State that is the location of the cement plant. We can now all be prepared to purchase a larger portion of the nation’s cement from Mexico who, by the way, is the largest foreign provider of the material.
Just another feather in O’s cap on the way to destroying America and “transforming” into a soon to be third world country…Greece, anyone?

It is blatantly unconstitutional for the EPA to make law, which is what this edict amounts to. Congress should (or in this case should not) vote on something as sweeping as this. That is there job.
We are now ruled by bureaucrats, who have become governing and law-making bodies unto themselves.

The rationale (excuse) for EPA’s actions come from the notion that the Supreme Court ruled that EPA had regulatory power to curb pollutants.
The Supreme Court was 1) misinterpreted, and 2) even so, the Supreme Court had no authority to make that ruling, misinterpreted or not. A bureaucracy is never supposed to be able to interpret law beyond a narrowly-defined mandate. Congress has to give them permission to expand or contract the mandate.
We are also ruled by imperious federal judges.

Now Obama wants to pack the courts with MORE of their type so we can’t even overturn unconstitutional laws or sue against unconstitutional rules that these alphabet soup agencies create out of thin air. He makes FDR look like a TEA partier.
