Brrrr… Scientists Issue New Warning of Imminent Food & Ethanol Shortages Due to Global Cooling

The leading independent research organization in the US on the subject of climate change issued a warning this week of imminent food and ethanol shortages due to global cooling.
The Space and Science Research Center reported:
The Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), the leading independent research organization in the United States on the subject of the next climate change, issues today the following warning of imminent crop damage expected to produce food and ethanol shortages for the US and Canada:
Over the next 30 months, global temperatures are expected to make another dramatic drop even greater than that seen during the 2007-2008 period. As the Earth’s current El Nino dissipates, the planet will return to the long term temperature decline brought on by the Sun’s historic reduction in output, the on-going “solar hibernation.” In follow-up to the specific global temperature forecast posted in SSRC Press Release 4-2009, the SSRC advises that in order to return to the long term decline slope from the current El Nino induced high temperatures, a significant global cold weather re-direction must occur. According to SSRC Director John Casey, “The Earth typically makes adjustments in major temperature spikes within two to three years. In this case as we cool down from El Nino, we are dealing with the combined effects of this planetary thermodynamic normalization and the influence of the more powerful underlying global temperature downturn brought on by the solar hibernation. Both forces will present the first opportunity since the period of Sun-caused global warming period ended to witness obvious harmful agricultural impacts of the new cold climate. Analysis shows that food and crop derived fuel will for the first time, become threatened in the next two and a half years. Though the SSRC does not get involved with short term weather prediction, it would not be unusual to see these ill-effects this year much less within the next 30 months.”

Why do you think the glomosexuals changed their slogan from “global warming” to “climate change” ?
This way they can scream the sky is falling no matter how the earth’s temperature behaves.
If it is too hot. They blame green house gases .
If it is too cold. They can blame smog for blocking the warming rays of the sun.
Either way they blame it on man and move to tax energy and redistribute the wealth.
When ethanol production causes a world wide food shortage they can blame the industrialized countries and then fleece them for even more money to feed the poor.

Ethanol isn’t NEEDED. It’s a LUXURY product. It was FORCED into our fuel by politics. And corn diverted to ethanol is less corn for FOOD.
End the cumbersome and expensive ethanol promotion and mandates, fake problem solved. Bet that was NOT the conclusion the Left wants readers to reach, though. Sorry, just can’t get worked up about any possible, potential, hypothetical shortage of engine-eating ethanol.

The ethanol… the first time I heard about it the only thing I could do was bang my head against my desk. It’s such a stupid idea.
But don’t be surprised. It’s the rabid left wing’s way of keeping the “upstarts” down. Why do you think so many environitwits, who are usually linked closely with socialism, are screaming at India and China to lower their production of “greenhouse gasses” (despite the fact that there is absolutely no evidence that 0.038% CO2 in the atmosphere have any effect at all)?

A few years back I almost got into a bar fight with a global warming fanatic when I told him that if he hated global warming he was really going to hate global cooling. But consider,
solar physicists have long been warning that the Sun was headed into a solar minima with regard to output.
Ocean current trends suggest that we are in for a long cooling period.
The last fifty years we have been in a relatively quiescent period with regard to major volcanic eruptions.
Currently there are three volcanoes that bear close watching. Eya in Iceland, Chaitain in Chile, and another in Indonesia whose name I cannot recall. Any one of these three have the potential of plunging the world into a prolonged period of intense cold. Watch Iceland in particular. When Eya goes, its sister Ketla usually follows, and on a much larger scale. We have been remarkably lucky for a long time. Like so many other problems which seem to confront us all at once it will take a lot of luck over the next few years to stave off a catastrophe. Personally I think the odds are long against it.

Stuart, I for myself take global warming over global cooling any day.
If it gets a bit warmer, we would have more agricultural areas. Thus more food for the people. Plus all the cultural jumps forward in the history of mankind were achieved during warming periods. Take the Romans, who could plant wine up into England. Or the Danes, who could plant wine in Denmark in ~12th century. And let’s not forget China, where they invented chrome more than 2,000 years ago (while the Romans were planting wine in England.) Good times!
Now shall we compare this to a cooling period?
The big ones, the ice ages, come to mind, but even the “little ice age” was bad enough.

I don’t have any clue as to whether this is the end of the interglacial period or simply another major downturn like the Mauder minimum. However Ice core evidence suggests that when interglacial periods end they do so quite quickly; on the order of two or three years. A third alternative is that this could be a relatively minor minimum such as the Dalton minimum in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. I can extrapolate trends but have no crystal ball. In any case, I am betting on cold.
Perhaps its time to break out the buffalo robes I have and start cutting and sewing a new coat.
