Faisal Shahzad was removed from the national terrorist surveillance list before the Times Square attack.

Confessed terrorist Faisal Shahzad was removed from the Department of Homeland Security travel lookout list sometime after Barack Obama came into office.
CBS reported:
Sources tell CBS News that would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad appeared on a Department of Homeland Security travel lookout list – Traveler Enforcement Compliance System (TECS) – between 1999 and 2008 because he brought approximately $80,000 cash or cash instruments into the United States.
The New York Times reported that the person who bought Faisal’s apartment back in 2004 was interviewed by federal investigators.
George LaMonica, a 35-year-old computer consultant, said he bought his two-bedroom condominium in Norwalk, Conn., from Mr. Shahzad for $261,000 in May 2004. A few weeks after he moved in, Mr. LaMonica said, investigators from the national Joint Terrorism Task Force [JTTF] interviewed him, asking for details of the transaction and for information about Mr. Shahzad. It struck Mr. LaMonica as unusual, but he said detectives told him they were simply “checking everything out.”
Barack Obama began shutting down Bush-era terrorist investigations last year including the investigation of Faisal Shahzad.
We all know what happened next.
Last week Faisal almost blew a hole in the middle of Times Square.
The only thing that saved the people of New York was Faisal’s incompetence.
UPDATE: Faisal Shahzad had contacts with several other terrorist leaders including the radical American-born Muslim cleric Anwar Awlaki, the Taliban Chief, and the Mumbai Massacre mastermind.
ABC reported:
Shahzad also had a web of jihadist contacts that included big names tied to terror attacks in the U.S. and abroad, including the figure who has emerged as a central figure in many recent domestic terror attempts – radical American-born Muslim cleric Anwar Awlaki.
Besides Awlaki, sources say Shahzad was also linked to a key figure in the Pakistani Taliban, its Emir Beitullah Mehsud, who was killed in a drone missile strike in 2009. The Mehsuds had been family friends of Shahzad, who is the son of a former high-ranking Pakistani military officer.

So there are tons of stories in the news about small toddlers whose names match people on the no-fly list, and the hassels those poor kids and their parents go through every time they try to fly, yet the innocent kids never get off the no-fly list.
Yet this guy, bringing tens of thousands in cash into the country, spending months at a time in Pakistan, gets off the terrorist watch list. And he almost escaped because no one used to check the no-fly list for outbound terrorists, only in-bound ones.
This whole security apparatus isn’t worth crap if it doesn’t use common sense.

About Shahzad: I believe it was Channel 2 News, Pertzborn, who interviewed someone, asking how Shahzad got naturalized in 2009. This guy said all people up for naturalization pass a rigorous FBI background check, so apparently Shahzad passed.
Is that plausible, given he was being watched by the GWB administration?
Since he became a citizen in 2009, that may be why they dropped him from surveillance. In 2004, he wasn’t yet a citizen.
He never should have become one. So now the question becomes: How did he ever become naturalized? Is it also an administration program to naturalize these guys so that Holder can call it “domestic terrorism” when it happens?

If they checked him out in 2004 he may have come off the list AFTER an investigation, which is how it is supposed to work. If he brings money in, but spends it on a house he’s good. Happens all the time. The fact he got off the list and should have stayed on it may fall closer to “hindsight is twenty-twenty” than a mistake being made at the time.
That said, if he pops back up or should have popped back up in 2008/2009 after he had some radical changes in behavior patterns, then you may have a complaint. The “how” to solve it every time is something that may be beyond our ability. Law enforcement is imperfect and frankly you want it that way. Options are that everybody get controlled tighter in order to catch a few bad guys. Are you willing to trade freedom for a weak promise of security? Isn’t that the real question we always face?

Brigitte Gabriel is an authority on Islam, however she was a Christian in Egypt prior to coming to the US and becoming a citizen. I think you may have her life story confused with that of Wafa Sultan, another woman who is an authority on Islam as she was born and raised Muslim before denouncing Islam. I reduced the Department of Homeland Security to watching Twitter instead of using high tech surveillance methods – and I think that is too invasive. That is the “Change” I have been working towards!
America sucks. Its military is always mucking-up good Muslim countries who are devoted to killing Americans. There are too many white and Asian people and not enough black and Middle Eastern people in America – they are the ones that vote for me.
Let’s face it, I have to dismantle the terrorists surveillance program because it could be tied to some of my friends – like Bill Ayers. All of it has to be shut down before some investigator finds Faisal Shahzad on one of my donor lists.
Further, I think it important to have open boarders. That way I can add more Middle Eastern people to my donor list. I really should be in jail but, I am not. Who cares if a few million crackers die in a terrorists attack as long as I am re-elected?
My limousine is spewing fumes and I have to bury this story before people start calling for impeachment proceeding against me. I have my government bunker – how about you? America sucks. Good day.

Surely the journalist knows that the CIA, FBI and homeland security personnel do not leave their jobs when a new administration comes into office. If they did we would be back in the 19th century before civil service was created. Does the journalist have specific evidence when the terrorists name was taken off the list and by what administrtor in which security branch? If not, this is just another red herring(from McCarthy era?) to attack our president. I say our president because he is the only one we have- at least have some concern that when you attack our president in front of the world you attack all Americans!

2 things, actually.
First, he was removed from the Treasury Department’s Enforcement Communication System, in 2008. Not 2009. 2008.
Second, that isn’t a “terrorist” list, and he wasn’t on it as a potential terrorist. He was on it because he brought $80,000 undeclared cash into the country in the late ’90s, which he used to buy a house in Connecticut. It’s a list of people who violated currency or customs regulations.
But don’t let the facts slow you down. As you were.

Given what i read in the book Muslim Mafia of all of the Muslim Brotherhood organizations that act as the web of sleeper-cell control and propaganda arm for the Jihad in this country (and their close connections to various FOB’s) and remembering that said B – Barry Soetero – stated that if there was a battle between citizens and Muslims in this country he would side with the Muslims,I think it safe to assume that a deliberate effort directed by the White House to protect Brotherhood agents against any investigation is under way.
