Tell us something new…

A noted Italian exorcist says the devil is working behind the scene in the state-run media.
The New York Times released a 50 year-old sexual abuse story that occurred in Milwaukee this week in an attempt to attack Pope Benedict XVI during Holy Week. The article was a shoddy piece of journalism but caused major damage to the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict XVI.
Today a leading exorcist said the devil was behind the Holy Week attacks.
Catholic News Agency reported:

Noted Italian exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth, commented this week that the recent defamatory reporting on Pope Benedict XVI, especially by the New York Times, was “prompted by the devil.”

Speaking to News Mediaset in Italy, the 85-year-old exorcist noted that the devil is behind “the recent attacks on Pope Benedict XVI regarding some pedophilia cases.”

“There is no doubt about it. Because he is a marvelous Pope and worthy successor to John Paul II, it is clear that the devil wants to ‘grab hold’ of him.”

Father Amorth added that in instances of sexual abuse committed by some members of the clergy, the devil “uses” priests in order to cast blame upon the entire Church: “The devil wants the death of the Church because she is the mother of all the saints.”

“He combats the Church through the men of the Church, but he can do nothing to the Church.”

Satan was pretty busy at the Times 75 years ago too when the newspaper of record served as an indispensable handmaiden to Stalin as he carried out the Holodomor in Ukraine.

Let’s hope Father Amorth can shake the demons from the Old Gray Lady.
It’s about time.

  1. We have cardinals who don’t believe in Christ, bishops connected with demons. Then we have these stories of paedophilia. You can see the rot when we speak of Satan’s smoke in the holy rooms (of the Vatican). – Father Gabriel Amorth

He also believes Satan is in the Vatican. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Devil-Has-Infiltrated-Vatican-Says-Exorcist-Father-Gabriel-Amorth-Church-Sex-Scandals-Evidence/Article/201003215571827?lpos=World_News_Third_Home_Page_Article_Teaser_Region__3

(Am I wrong to have a strong suspicion that this posted comment will disappear? Still, I hope I’m wrong.)

  2. I am still outraged by the covering of Christian symbols for Obummer at Notre Dame.

I say the Holy Catholic Church needs to stand strong and not wimp out. God is strength — rely and trust Him!!
    .

  3. The past year especially, it’s become more and more obvious that the media, though it’s made up of thousands of people, has one voice. The radio shows are very good now at running the montages of the same wording, the same “narrative,” which is plainly coordinated, but even beyond that it’s a uniform “voice” same sort of grammar, phrasing, a consistency not really possible for so many people.

The intonation, the inuenndo, the lying, the vulgarity is all of a theme .. . oh, and curiously or tellingly, the hostility to the Judeo-Christian witness. Bhuddists and Hindus and Muslims don’t get the slime treatment. So it’s not against all religions, just a particular pair.

    Very weird.

  4. Fortunately for the Church, only very stupid people pay any attention to the New York Times any more.

Under Abe Rosenthal, it was the “Newspaper of Record for America,” and if you read it in their news columns you could take it at face value.

Under ne’er-do-well scion of the Sulzberger-Ochs families, poor pathetic Pinch, they have steadily circled the drain. The Raines – Jayson Blair scandal was just the tip of the iceberg. Now it’s just a hack partisan rag.

  5. It has long been known that Keith Olberfart has tourette syndrome, at the advanced stages. But Obama’s homosustainability is a rather vicious demon, something that his wife likes to watch after the kids go to sleep in the Black House basement coffins. Perhaps the Rot Tot Orlaut Barry Childhood photo can explain all of this.

  6. What the catholic church is doing to young children is frightening. Someone explain why none of the rapists are in jail.

I enjoy seeing the church sweat.

  7. wanumba, Bhuddists and Hindus don’t get any treatment at all.

There is, however, a certain media bias. In Germany, when some catholic bastard rapes children, it’s all over the news. But there was the case of a boarding school where such sexual abuse of children seems to have a history going back to when the school was founded (100 years ago) and there was barely any outcry.

Red, you have a valid point. There were several such “incidents” here in Austria over the past 10-15 years. None of the priests is in prison. None of them was ever charged. The Vatican quickly sent them to different positions but they never paid for their crimes. John Paul 2 and Benedict have and are both covering for these bastards.

Also, even if they would get jailed, the punishment here is laughable. In Germany the maximum jailtime is 5 years, here it’s not much different.

In Japan, a country where Christianity has always been marginal, it’s 30 years.

And please, an exorcist? Don’t make me laugh. There is no Satan, there is only human nature. And humans, on default, aren’t angels. That’s why we have laws, rules and regulations.

  8. I don’t see much difference between the media or the Catholic church lately. They’re both full of corruption.

  9. Who was present when the little boys were molested by Catholic priests?

  10. OT from free republic – all that glistens is not gold…… so much for gloria estefan and her

  11. Someone explain why none of the [Catholic priest] rapists are in jail.

Earth to “Red”: Many Catholic priests are indeed sitting in prison this moment. Many others are out but only after having served their prison sentences. At least one was housed with a convicted murderer, who, predictably, murdered the priest in their prison cell. So by asking the question, “why are no priests in jail?” you’re in effect spreading vicious lies.

Please Google “Catholic priests in prison” before you post here on this topic again.

Alternatively, please crawl back to the Sorosian black hole from which you oozed.

  12. And we all know that the devils’ greatest trick of all is making people believe that he does not exist. Be afraid, be very afraid!!!

  13. Major damage to the church? Last I looked, Holy Week services were not canceled.

  14. To “red”, “Andreas K”and “Flavia” et al. I do not know what glass house you live in but if it is one shared with a family,a Minister, Rabbi, Coach, Psychologist,Teacher, baby sitters, School board member or any other human with a modicum of power over another human I would hesitate before I picked up that first stone. Perhaps you think that Christ did not need to come and maybe you thought that priests were not among the fallen, I wish they were’nt, but the fight against evil is old, deep and wide. I suspect that perhaps you don’t realize that. satan or not the echo of the fall resounds in all of us.I wonder if you have even heard of Charol Shakeshafts report on N.Y.C. school districts handling of it’s teachers sexual abuse of students or her report “Educator Sexual Misconduct with Students etc.”, a report dictated by the “No child left behind” progam. This report and many others should be at least of equal interest to you since many of them involve institutions funded by public monies.
I do not mean by all of this that the Church should be immune to public scrutiny or that the millstone priests should not be hunted down and punished, I mean that if your concern were truly about routing these evil doers it would find them where ever they are and they are everywhere. By the way 80% or more of the victims were postpubescent and therefore not victims of pedophilia but of Homosexual sex abuse.

  15. I believe this. I believe he is also operating out of the White House, and Congress. The whole group are demons. When I saw the story about the pedophile priests again, I thought the timing was suspicious. They act as though, other religions don’t have their problems. I’m tired of the Christian bashing, and contrary to what the Indonesian imposter in the White House says(also a demon,) we are a Christian nation, whether he likes it or not.

  16. Ratzinger, informed that the Catholic church was hiding a man who sexually assulted young deaf boys, didn’t feel any need to notify U.S. legal authorities or even to exclude the child molester from the church. Those are not disputed facts.

I just ask everyone to decide for themselves whether they think that’s appropriate conduct. Furthermore, even if YOU think that’s perfectly appropriate, don’t you think reasonable people might disagree? Isn’t it understandable that folks might be outraged to learn of yet another example of the Catholic church protecting sex offenders from the legal consequences of their actions? I thought we were opposed to international institutions that consider themselves to be above U.S. law.

What does it say about the Catholic church that it’s now invoking church doctrine in an effort to prevent people from having a public debate about the subject? Satan is behind news stories about sexual molestation of children? Does this mean we should all fall into line and do what the nice bishop tells us?

Or, as Paul A’Barge asks: who was behind the sexual molestation of children? Because I don’t believe it was God.

  17. Just a reminder to people. This is Holy Week. This is the week we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

Today is Good Friday the day that our Lord laid down is life for you and me whether you believe that or not. We all have access to this Savior. He is there waiting for everyone to accept His gift for themselves.

No matter the conditition of the Catholic Church or the “catholic” church Christ still sits at the right hand of His Father. One of these days (and maybe soon), He will gather up His believers to Him.

Celebrate this wonderful gift of God. A free gift. Do not center on these attacks. As real as Christ is so also is Satan or the Man of Sin. He is waging war against God’s church (those who truly worship and serve Him, not those “who having the form of godliness, but denying the power thereof”). Just as Christ uses mere humans so does Satan. Be aware and alert.

  18. Ratzinger, informed that the Catholic church was hiding a man who sexually assulted young deaf boys, didn’t feel any need to notify U.S. legal authorities or even to exclude the child molester from the church. Those are not disputed facts.

Liar. Police and prosecutors had already been informed. It was the authorities’ own choice not to take action. Thanks to Cardinal Ratzinger, the abusive priest was subjected to a criminal trial within the Church.

And stop being so smug and self-righteous, StinkingMan. There’s nothing noble whatsoever in your repeating lies you’ve been told by others, simply because you’re too gullible and/or too lazy to research the truth.

  19. Back to the truth.

Satan runs the democrat (abortion, class hatred, promiscuity, sodomy, tyranny, etc.) party and Obama is his most effective tool.

Obama is causing a trillion times worse harm than all the pedophiles from all of history and all walks of life. In fact, Obama gives NAMBLA members WH jobs.

  20. Bring Back McClatchy Watch

McClatchy reporter William Douglas was instrumental in spreading the claim that protesters at the Capitol shouted racial epithets at Congressmen.

As Jack Cashill at American Thinker documents, Douglas either was a speed writer of epic proportions, or Douglas pre-wrote much of the article in advance. You be the judge. I am completely neutral on the subject (heh).

None of this would have happened if McClatchy Watch still was active. Day in, day out inspection of McClatchy newspapers might, just might, have deterred the pre-writing of articles.

McClatchy Watch on Twitter just doesn’t do it.

Bring back McClatchy Watch. We need it now more than ever.

  21. I think “thinking man” is wrong on the facts in the Wisconsin case. My understanding is that the secular authorities were informed and they chose not to act and that there was an investigation underway which, right or wrong was stopped because the guy was dying and did in fact die not long afterwards. What could you possibly mean by saying that the Church has stopped the public discussion of this issue. The discussion has been full tilt for almost 10 years. What Catholic Doctrine has been invoked. Who is it that should be leading this discussion, the N.Y. Times. As important, as I mentioned earlier, should’nt the discussion involve all of the institutions that have the same problem and have dealt with it at least as bad as the Catholic Church has. This problem has a myriad of causes that range from the personal, to the institutional, to the cultural. Attempts to address it, to the degree that it has been, were a mishmash of pastoral, therapeutic, legal, both civil and criminal, and denial. There is much blame to go around and the Church should bear its share and it will. As a Catholic I am disgusted by the whole thing and saddened by the spectacle of my beloved Church taking a whipping it deserves and angry for the whippings it does’nt and the glee with which they are given.

Leadership in the Catholic church is decidedly lacking.

    Humans fail.

  25. CHRIS STIREWALT: Democrats Get Hip To The Paranoid Style of Politics.

“To read the news, you might assume that there is a militiaman under every rock and that every tea party is a front for the Aryan Nation. . . . It is usually those out of power who are drawn to paranoid conspiracies, but Democrats sound like a pack of John Birchers talking about a shadowy conspiracy that is plotting against them.”

  26. Well,

Maybe not. Sure, we have a bunch of prejudiced individuals in our media, but even they have their limits. For example, Der Spiegel is getting sick of unscientific fearmongering from the people who insist that humans are causing global warming.

This makes sense to me: Germans have a respect for both science and order. Nevetheless, it took this long…..

    ………….

Of course the big 800 pound gorilla in the room is the abuse by atheist predators. But, being “non-religious” they can’t be accused of hypocrisy, which evidently in the media is worse than the actual crime. It also means one cannot appeal to their consciences, because they haven’t developed any.

It’s very hard to imagine the devil in a clean, modern, technological society, with lots of glittering lights and organized functions like trains and cars and elevators and concerts and supermarkets being stocked by steady, reliable streams of trucks coming from distribution centers, which are filled by a myriad of farms and producers. Everything works like a clock, people go to stores, to restaurants, clubs, libraries. The nights remain bright, with colors, music and human activity. There’s no sense at all of anything else there behind the reality of what our eyes can see.

So, it’s the edcuation of a lifetime to be in the deep night of any West African city, a dark gloom of the winter harmattan dust obscuring the stars overhead, only a few spots in the city lit with electricity, the rest silent and dark, people locked inside their rooms, in fear, as the witchdoctors begin their prowling for humans to sacrifice for their rituals.

And you hear the people talk about the thing that silently moves past their door, back and forth – a shadow of a man, and when he passes, the hair stands straight on the people’s necks, bone chilling fear freezes them in their place, the terror so profound one can’t speak.

The shadows that come along with the ritual dolls and the old traditional masks bought for decoration that quickly dominate a room, drawing all eyes to them all the time, turning a pleasant room from comfortable to a space people avoid, without being able to articulate why they feel so uneasy, as if the bright sunlight was just a thin layer that can be peeled aside to show there’s a black universe right there behind it.

Then you go quit the continent and as you sit in India, passing the time about pleasant things, the Indian turns to you and asks what to do about the black shadow their cousin has called up against them that was first outside the house, at the edge of the property, something that can’t be seen straight on, but a deeper blackness against the night out the corner of one’s eye, silently there, that makes one constantly glance over one’s shoulder, but now is inside one of the rooms, waiting. And they know it was brought out of malice, but it’s something they cannot fight by themselves and they are terrified.

Leon Tolskoy talks about the power, in his book, “The Resurrection.” At the end, the old man prisoner describes the Soviet prison as the AntiChrist, but the prison though is just one part, one hand, of an overwhelming power that drives and guides the state, the prison, the guards to smother the prisoners, crushing them until they break as thinking beings, as physical beings as moral beings – and not just broken as a stick is snapped, but crushed as a boot rises and falls to shatter every broken piece into splinters. That there is a need to correct the people to make them perfect, but those who correct are evil, so nothing is transformed, just the prisoners and the guards themselves together becoming more dead and more destroyed as they sink deeper into what is a black hole of evil, a dark pit where good doesn’t exist.

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate to do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree the law is good. As it is, it is no longer myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know nothing good lives in me, that is in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do – this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work. When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law, but I see another law at work in the members of my body, making war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.
What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
    Romans 7

John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and the life.”
    Isaiah 9:2:
    “The people walking in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the
    shadow of death,
    a light has dawned.”

“God is light, in Him there is no darkness at all.”

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9

  29. #17 – the difference between priests and others raping children is that priests profess to be men of God and they are not to engage in sex within the position of priest within the Catholic Church. Big difference.

I know of plenty of Catholics, and I bet most of them knew of a priest who was molesting children within their own community. Let’s think, if I wanted to molest children and get away with it, what profession would I want to take up, knowing I wouldn’t be prosecuted?

As for priests that do sit in jail for molestation, well just think of how many there must be who don’t then, because the Catholic Church has been brushing the issue under the rug for centuries….and not doing a damn thing, other than moving priests to other communities to continue the insanity.

Christians are suppose to put on the whole armour of God to be able to stand against Satan – I would suggest Catholic priests begin to do the same or get out of the priesthood.

  30. As a Christian I do believe that it is Satan who tempts man, and man makes a choice to follow God or Satan, so I believe it is true, that many priests have been found wanting. God has standards for men of the cloth; therefore, when a priest becomes blemished, the Church must strip him of his priesthood and hold him accountable within the realms of God’s laws, enforced by men. This does not mean that a priest cannot be forgiven, but that he is no longer up to the standard God expects for His teachers.

  31. For the record, is Jim Hoft opposed to the massive amounts of child abuse committed by members of the Catholic Church, or is he more opposed to The New York Times reporting on such abuse? It would seem to me that your morals would have to be pretty screwed up to be more outraged at the later than the former.

  32. ……………….

    THat’s right.
God does hold them to a higher standard as they have a duty and a responsibility as religious leaders, so they face great condemnation. This is scriptural : 1 Timothy 3.
They CAN be forgiven, but the price includes quitting that job, and never being permitted to go back to any church authority position, ever.

Even if men fail their duty to keep a discipline in the earthly church, God will hold those people responsible, so perfect justice WILL be served. It’s better though for people to see the churches react correctly and cut this sort of thing out as soon as they are aware of it. It’s not a surprise that predatory people get into churches – everyone looks golden on their job application, it’s how the churches handle it when they find out. Schools have the same problem – they get predators amongst teachers and staff, but again how they handle it when they find out is the critical element in maintaining or losing the people’s trust.

The Catholic Church is going to move as fast as a big bureaucracy can be expected to move, which is a problem when more rapid decisive action is necessary. Especially in the face of a media that is pretty much openly hostile to the concept of “religion, ” especially the “Judeo-Christian” religious heritage. The Church can’t be tone-deaf to the fact it’s ponderous and deliberative nature can be exploited as “indifference.”

    ………..
It would seem that your morals must be pretty screwed up to twist that up to broadly imply such a thing.

If the Catholic abuse was as out of control as the media suggests, it would be already closed as an institution. The people in the pews would have revolted and shut it down. There are a lot of good priests who diligently serve their parishes well. The majority. No fair person wants to denigrate those who haven’t done anything wrong, or smear them with the taint of the offenders.

We’d just all like to see that even a modicum of fairness on display in the media reporting.

  34. Let’s think, if I wanted to molest children and get away with it, what profession would I want to take up, knowing I wouldn’t be prosecuted?

That’s a no-brainer, Joanne. The hands-down winner: PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER.

    Douchebag.

  35. #37: OK, let’s try a thought experiment, nick b:

NY Times prints an article accusing nick b of covering up sex crimes committed by a priest in nick b’s church. But the story is false, since in fact nick b was the one who initiated the church’s criminal trial against the predator priest in the first place, after the civil authorities failed to take action. But based on the NY Times piece, it looks like nick b is covered it up instead.

So how does nick b react? Is nick b more outraged at the fresh new, blatant, and completely false DEFAMATION of his character? Or at the re-telling of an old sex abuse story that everyone already knows about because it’s been reported numerous times before?

And nick b is more outraged at the former, does that mean nick b’s “morals would have to be pretty screwed up”?
