Redistributor Obama to Wall Street: "I Do Think at Certain Point You've Made Enough Money" (Video)

For some strange reason this didn’t make any headlines in the state-run media?
While his SWAT Team was dealing with unruly tea party grandmothers outside the Quincy, Illinois convention center, Obama told his socialist supporters inside:
“I think at some point you have made enough money.”

Touring the Midwest, President Obama said he was “very pleased” a deal had been reached, and he criticized Wall Street lobbyists for trying to dilute the bill’s most stringent provisions. Obama said he did not “begrudge” wealth that is “fairly earned.” But in a departure from his prepared remarks, he added, “I think at some point you have made enough money.”
The Obamas made made $5.5 million in 2009, up from the $2.7 million they made in 2008.

This man is sick. He’s perpetuating the flawed premise that money is drawn from one giant pie, and that the larger one person’s piece is, necessarily the smaller everyone else’s is.
Of course, that’s not the way wealth works. If I were to start, say, a web design company from my house tomorrow, I’m generating something new, and I’m not stealing wealth away from someone else to do it. Wealth generation is limitless, and money is just a tangible, transactable symbol for that wealth.
Now, if these Goldman Sachs fellas broke standing law, that’s one thing. But stating that they’re just “too rich”, or something like that, is something else entirely. Disturbing.

There is a finite pot of wealth and anything else is just the crazy talk thats left so many people out of business. In your example you are taking money away from your customers and more importantly away from other web design companies. Hopefully at least in the case of your customers you return them a nice product but, they have still lost money.
There is no mechanism by which people can continue to get rich without it impacting every one else. You may rant about Obama’s followers having drunk the kool aid, but, seriously…

Perhaps in a mathematical sense, but we are far from the limits of growth. Are you seriously suggesting that the entire economy is in fact a zero sum game? Please elucidate your point.

If I’m not “taking away money from my customers”, then what’s the point of being in business?
The transaction is an exchange – through my ingenuity, I have something that is of value to the customer. So we trade – the customer receives my services and I receive the cusomer’s money.

So, if we follow his logic that would mean that if a person has a business employing 100 people as soon as the owner has “made enough money” he should close his business and fire his employees. That would mean that not only would 100 people be unemployed but his suppliers, the people that buy his product would all suffer economically.
