Oops! The Quincy Police Department released a bogus statement calling the SWAT Team on the the protesting grandmothers yesterday. Unfortunately, they forgot about the army of videographers that filmed this incident.
The Quincy Police Department released a statement today following the embarrassing incident yesterday when they called in the SWAT squad to quash the peaceful tea party protest outside the convention center during Barack Obama’s visit.
During President Obama’s address, at approximately 1530 hours, the MFFT was deployed. A group of individuals positioned themselves on the south side of York Street near 3rd Street. This was within the area that was to be kept secure at the request of the U. S. Secret Service agents in charge of the site. Prior to the event only ticketed individuals were to be in this area; during the event it was restricted to the general public completely. Secret Service personnel requested these individuals leave the area and to go back to the north side of York Street. They did not comply. Quincy Police Department personnel made the same requests and again they did not comply. At that time the MFFT was deployed to stand post between the individuals and the site and, if necessary, remove the individuals. Once the MFFT was in place, the individuals agreed to move. Once everyone complied and the site was again secure, the MFFT returned to their staging point. No physical force was used during this deployment.
Of course, this ludicrous statement is a complete fabrication. We are currently contacting the police department to retract their statement.
We strongly object to these points.
1. Prior to the event only ticketed individuals were to be in this area; during the event it was restricted to the general public completely.
From the videos below it is clear that the restricted area was not roped off or marked as restricted. The protesters repeatedly checked with the police to make sure that they were not being disruptive.
2. “Secret Service personnel requested these individuals leave the area and to go back to the north side of York Street. They did not comply.”
We have at least three videos below that prove that the protesters asked and double-checked with the police to make sure we were following orders.
3. “Once the MFFT was in place, the individuals agreed to move.”
Once again the video shows that we were already moving from the corner to the middle of York Street before the MFFT marched into place.
The first video produced by Adam Sharp shows Adam checking and double-checking with the police to make sure that we are in the correct area. You’ll also notice that Adam was polite at all times.
In this video Local Quincy Tea Party Leader Steve McQueen was directing protesters to the middle of York Street when the SWAT team was called in.
In this video P/Oed Patriot assists police with moving the protesters to the middle of York Street.
Bob McCarty also has video of the peaceful protesters following orders.
The Quincy police needs to retract their statement and issue an apology.

Quincy PD: “during the event it was restricted to the general public completely”
The Quincy PD must not know English. If this is the statement the PD issued, it indicates the area would be accessed ONLY by the general public. (If it was intended that the general public be kept from the area, the correct verbiage would be “restricted FROM the general public…”)

I have been worried that Obama would call on SEIU, ACORN, Nation of Islam and New Black Panthers to provide storm troopers. Apparently, local police can be compromised also. I hope someday soon that local police in a similar situation will refuse to engage in useless but intimidating actions designed to silence free speech. We are in deep s**t and the situation will worsen between now and the November elections.
Every one should keep the faith and continue peaceful demonstrations.

Jim,
What the police did was pure intimidation.
However, these weren’t SWAT guys, they were regular cops in riot gear.
It’s inflammatory and counter-productive to sensationalize it. If the other side did it, we’d be calling them on it.
We’re above that.

Very well done.
Now, perhaps the city and the police department will demonstrate good sense, and apologize.

Links to these videos should be sent to all the civil offices in Quincy. City email addresses should be available online. Make sure the story is widely known within the local bureaucracy, and that there is video evidence. Let the mocking start within the PD and other local civic offices.
An attempt is being made here to separate the people from the police. To make the people afraid of the power of government. We need to make sure the police (line officers) realize that we know it is their leadership that is abusing power, and that we still support the difficult job they do. It is their leadership that will lose their power at the ballot box.
Patman commented:
We should not be accusing the Riot Police of doing anything wrong. They just obey orders and collect their paychecks.
We SHOULD be accusing whom ever ordered them there in the first place. They are the ones responsible for the farce that ensued.
Jayne on the left coast commented:
What does MFFT stand for? A response team for what?
Jon commented:
There’s evidence that Obama’s people were behind the “deployment” of riot police. It’s pure and simple muscle-flexing, as ordered by those around Obama, trying to put tea party protesters in their place.
Be aware of the next wave of infiltrators who will try to start physical conflicts with the police to draw the attention of the media to begin doing overtime in demonizing Tea Partiers.
We’re having a positive effect in politics and leftists in both the Democrat party and various other leftist groups don’t like that we’re beating them at their own game…non-violent protest. They want a reason to indiscriminately detain us for the reason that we’re so effective and that’s what this is about.
Charlie Collier commented:
Jim Hoft is an irresponsible purveyor of destructive hysteria. He calls this an action of Team Obama, whom he also slanders elsewhere as “goons,” even though his own (confused) reporting makes it clear that the local police department made the decision to deploy these security forces. Only a paranoid lunatic would think that Obama or anyone near the president had anything to do with this.
Hoft also feels free to call anyone a liar when their own version of events contradicts his. This is ideology at its ugliest. No truth is being served by Hoft. He is serving himself and a very, very narrow political agenda, before which he as sacrificed his decency, and any sense of civic charity and responsibility.
Muddywaters commented:
“I wasn’t there and I don’t have all the facts.I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry,” . “Number two, that the Quincy police acted stupidly. And number three – what I think we know separate and apart from this incident – is that there is a long history in this country of Americans and Teapartiers being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that’s just a fact.”
Spook commented:
Super the true nature of the Obama Regime and his blind followers is being revealed. This should do nothing but recruit more freedom loving Americans to the Tea Party Movement.
In the meantime, I suggest all read the book, “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross.
Also, suggest you go to your local gunshop and purchase a semi-automatic firearm. I’d strongly suggest it be in .308 caliber (As this is NATO approved and you can resupply your ammo off the battlefield plus it has more knockdown power than the 5.56×45 (.223) round). Some good choices would be FN FAL type weapons or AR10 (like AR15/M16 but in .308/7.62 caliber). You can generally find ammo online cheaper if you buy in bulk (e.g. 1,000+ rounds at the time.) I would suggest you stockpile at least 5,000 rounds (10,000 would be better!)
The founding fathers would already have taken action. We are a peaceful and law-abiding people overall but we will only be pushed and intimidated so far.

Both sides need to issue a retraction. Clearly the police statement is wrong, but so is the statement that this was a SWAT team and that it was called in to “quash” the protest. That was not a SWAT team, and the protesters were allowed to continue protesting. Nobody was arrested.

MFFT stands for Mobile Field Force Team.
It’s a bunch of cops (from one dept or many) that are specially trained in riot control and civil disturbances. When a need arises, they are pulled from their regular duties and formed up as an MFFT.
Kevin P commented:
Stelermark #17 – O.K. – it wasn’t a SWAT team literally. Would Jack-Booted Thugs, or Goon Squad be more appropriate?
Scott commented:
On the one hand, I want to laugh because it’s so ridiculous to put men on the roof and in riot gear simply to ask people to move across the street.
On the other hand, it really is a sign how frightened the authorities are of losing control when they think its necessary to intimidate an orderly and peaceful crowd singing patriotic songs and waving flags with such a show of brute force.
Kevin P commented:
Scott #22 – exactly. Can you picture this scene outside of Busch Stadium after an everyday Cardinal’s game? Basically – it’s the same type of crowd – just less drunk. Basically they just needed a traffic cop – but sent out the JBT’s.

The Quincy Police most likely made the unnecessary show of force at the White House request. For all we know, the White House also suggested a covering statement (they ARE good at media manipulation).
The Police Department sould have played it straight by being honest from the start, by announcing to the friendly crowd they were making a show of force by request. That would have also made the false statment unnecessary.
A Police Department that lies to the citizens it works for just makes problems for itself.

Instead of trying to find the smartest among them to engage their opposition intellectually, all the teaparty types can do is stand outside and wave loopy signs and then generate frantic reports like this.
Now, if you’re a teapartier, please go read the above a few times. I want BHO to be challenged, and at the link I point out how he lied. Then, compare it to this post: while the partiers might have some kind of point, it’s buried beneath their obsession with being drama queens.

As a Canadian of a certain age, I have a great appreciation for the United States of America and for everything your nation represents. So I was shocked and saddened to see the politicization of your police department as evidenced by your recent statement regarding behaviors of the Tea Party participants in our town. I quote:
“They did not comply. Quincy Police Department personnel made the same requests and again they did not comply.”
From multiple videos I’ve seen, your statement is at best disengenuous and at worst, patently false. I’m not a citizen of Illinois nor of your great country, but as an observer, it seems to me that you should be embarrassed for yourself and your department. The Tea Party participants were everything that citizens should be, and for you to suggest that they represented a threat to either public order or the President, is simply Orwellian.

Just because you are paid to do something does not make it legal or moral. Someone has to be the first to say “NO!” It should have been those cops…there and then!
Remember, whoever gave them their orders, also got THEIR orders from someone too! So everyone is “just following orders!”
It is no excuse, and those cops should all be ashamed.
Sara commented:
Those making excuses for the cops cooperating with this dangerous political police hit designed by Obama’s homies, should remember that this is why Oath Keepers has come about. As a professional association of American-American cops and military members, they can work against being used as the thug’s unconstitutional political pawns. The ones who cooperate against the constitution need to lose their jobs.
Every cop makes a pledge to uphold the constitution and they are expected to uphold that promise to Americans; not the President. It does not matter if the President is a Marxist (global socialist) or a Nazi (National Socialist). Obama is way outside the boundries of the constitution as he directs homeland security to treat his political opposition as “terrorists.”
William Hodges commented:
Since the inception of the current administration, it is becoming quite clear that this is what should be expected across the nation.
If you attend a public rally, protest, or demonstration, do your best to bring along a video camera. The more video produced and the more angles filmed, the less likely anyone can dispute the evidence. This will eventually result in one of two outcomes: 1. Authorities will begin returning to public compliance and treat citizens more respectfully, or; 2. Authorities will drop all pretence of upholding the law and may become violent. The first is most preferable, obviously. The second would provide evidence and cause for public outrage and serve to demand immediate justice.
Let’s never forget the power that video provided following the massacre of Tiananmen Square in 1989. One good picture is worth a thousand words. One good video is worth a million. Many photographs and videos are priceless and cannot be argued against nor suppressed.
